Toni (f) and Bennett (m) a lovely 9-month-old dachshund mix pair, 30-40# respectively, are not only incredibly sweet but also extraordinarily adaptable. They easily befriend dogs of all ages, whether big or small, and their gentle disposition ensures they’re a hit with everyone they meet. These two resilient souls were found in less than ideal circumstances. Today, they are looking forward to a bright future in a loving forever home! If you’re seeking a compassionate and adaptable duo to join your family, Toni and Bennett are the perfect match. *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kennelled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment (spay/neuter, etc.) and a health certificate for cross-state travel*

Story
Animal Profile: Gus is an adorable, ~12lb dachshund/terrier mix who is estimated to be around 4 years old. He was originally rescued from a high-kill shelter in Bakersfield, CA and arrived in Seattle in January.  Foster Update: Meet Gus! This sweet guy has been quick to steal the heart of everyone he meets. We are guessing he is a dachshund/terrier mix, with the cutest wiry fur along his back. He has been getting settled into his foster home and doing great. His foster mom shares, "Gus is a sweet, well-mannered gentleman with a playful, curious nature. He’s been settling in quickly and is loving exploring every inch of our house and backyard. Gus is potty trained and he is quiet and content in his crate — in fact we’ve barely heard him make a single peep except to howl along with an ambulance on his way home! He’s a little shy with new people but has warmed up to us in just a few days to the point where he’s now asking for pets and is dying to snuggle on the couch (we won’t let him at this time poor guy!). He likes to do zoomies in our basement when it’s playtime but also is great at settling down on a dog bed in my office when I’m working. I think this little guy is going to be a total socialite once he has really settled in and gained some confidence. Oh and he has yet to turn down a single treat and cleans his bowl every meal, so safe to say he is food motivated!" As Gus has continued to settle in, he has shown some excitement on his leash where he will pull or vocalize at passing dogs/people. His foster family has been working with him on his leash manners, and he has shown great improvement. His forever family will need to feel comfortable to continue to keep up good leash manners with Gus. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, andhealth certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from euthanasia at Bakersfield in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 01/31/24. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.April 27, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Buffalo is an estimated 6 month-old, 20-ish pound male Dachshund mix who was surrendered to the Caddo Parish shelter along with his two siblings, who have since been rescued.  Foster Update: Buffalo definitely has puppy energy! He loves chews, toys and is happy to entertain himself. Buffalo has an adventurous spirit in the yard and he’s quickly learning what’s his and what’s not in true puppy style. He is house trained and he sleeps beautifully through the night in his crate. He will actually put himself in his crate once he is tuckered out from playing. He is a short little fella but he is full steam ahead and he has no problem keeping up with his furry foster siblings in a game of chase. Buffalo’s ideal day is play, nap, eat, repeat! He is really good at following cues from the other dogs in the house so he would do great in a home with another dog or two that like to play and can teach him the ropes, but it’s not required for him. Buffalo will do best with a family with prior dog experience and no really young children because he is slow to warm up to new people but he is getting braver day by day as his fosters help him see that the PNW is not such a scary place and are slowly introducing him to the neighborhood and new adventures.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from Caddo Parish animal shelter in Shreveport Louisiana and arrived to Seattle via Tail Lights Rescue Project on March 4, 2024. April 27, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
Say hello to Rocco! He is a 5-year-old, 13lb dachshund/chihuahua mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA. He is a very sweet dog who can be shy in new situations. He is house trained , crate trained and is generally a quiet guy, no barking or whining. He is a happy boy and does have some energy to him. He loves to go on walks but also loves to be held and cuddle with his person. He does well with other dogs and would do great with other dogs in the home but could also be fine as an only dog soaking up all of the love and attention. Rodney would enjoy a home in a quieter neighborhood as loud noises can startle him. Rocco is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His fee is $450.

Story
HE WAS FOUND WITH TWO PUPPIES UNDER A HIGHWAY BRIDGE. UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM TESTED POSITIVE FOR DISTEMPER AND, BECAUSE THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY VERY ADVANCED, HE DIED A FEW DAYS AFTER STARTING HIS TREATMENT. ELMER AND THE OTHER PUPPY, TITAN, WERE PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, ONE DAY AFTER THE END OF QUARANTINE, TITAN SHOWED DISTEMPOR SYMPTOMS AND, LIKE THE FIRST PUPPY, DIED DESPITE RECEIVING TREATMENT. THIS WAS HOW ELMER BECAME THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THIS RESCUE. TODAY ELMER IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY AND WITHOUT ANY KIND OF SEQUEL AND IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FAMILY THAT WILL CONSENT HIM. ELMER IS A FAITHFUL COMPANION WHO LOVES TO BE HUGGED AND Cuddled. HE WILL LOVE TO TAKE WALKS AND WALKS WITH YOU. IT IS PLAYFUL AND FRIENDLY, WHICH MAKES IT IDEAL TO BE WITH CHILDREN AND LITTLE ONES. HE LIKES TO EXPLORE, DISCOVER NEW THINGS, MEET PEOPLE AND ABOVE ALL PLAY. The $550.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to Oregon or Washington. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash.
