FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Mikey! Mikey is a 1-year-old, 15 lb Dachshund/Spaniel mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. He’s now looking for a very special home that can give him the time, patience, and understanding he needs to thrive. Mikey is a shy, sensitive boy who can be skittish in new situations and around new people. He is considered a flight risk, so he will need a calm, secure home committed to keeping him safe while he learns to trust and settle in. He’s looking for a quiet, predictable environment—ideally outside of the busy city—where he can decompress, build confidence, and establish a steady routine. Because of his sensitive nature, Mikey will need an adult-only home with adopters who have experience working with shy or fearful dogs. Having another well-adjusted, confident dog in the home would be a huge benefit for Mikey. He takes comfort in other dogs and would love a buddy to help show him the ropes and build his confidence. While he may be reserved at first, once Mikey forms a bond and feels safe, he shows his true colors—sweet, cuddly, and deeply loving with his people. He just needs time, patience, and a gentle approach to get there. Mikey has not been tested with cats. Mikey is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Meet Sweetpea! Sweetpea is an 8-year-old, 10-lb purebred Dachshund with a huge love for people and a heart that’s ready for a fresh start. This little girl came to us after experiencing some neglect, including a skin condition and significant dental disease. Our veterinary team recently performed a dental procedure and had to remove all of her teeth. During that visit, they also discovered an old fracture in her jaw that left the lower jaw with very little bone support. Because of this, Sweetpea’s jaw is fragile and she will need to stay on a special soft-food diet for the rest of her life. She cannot have anything hard (including kibble or crunchy treats), as further damage to the jaw could require surgical removal of the lower portion. Right now she does great eating soft foods like shredded chicken, canned dog food, and soft options such as baby rice cereal. Sweetpea gets along well with other dogs, but for her safety we are looking for a home without other pets. This will prevent any chance of her accessing hard food or kibble that could harm her jaw. Despite everything she’s been through, Sweetpea has a wonderful personality. She absolutely loves people and enjoys soaking up attention. She does not have separation anxiety and can be left home alone without issue. She is also pee pad trained and does well with a routine. She will need to be taken outside shortly after eating, as she tends to need a bathroom break soon after meals. Sweetpea’s ideal home: • No other animals (to keep her diet strictly soft food) • An attentive adopter who can carefully manage her special diet • Adults only household able to closely monitor her jaw health • Someone looking for a loving little companion who adores people Sweetpea may have some special needs, but she has so much love to give. With the right home, this sweet little dachshund will happily spend her days cuddling, enjoying her soft meals, and being someone’s devoted companion. Sweetpea is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $300.

Story
HE WAS FOUND WITH TWO PUPPIES UNDER A HIGHWAY BRIDGE. UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM TESTED POSITIVE FOR DISTEMPER AND, BECAUSE THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY VERY ADVANCED, HE DIED A FEW DAYS AFTER STARTING HIS TREATMENT. ELMER AND THE OTHER PUPPY, TITAN, WERE PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, ONE DAY AFTER THE END OF QUARANTINE, TITAN SHOWED DISTEMPOR SYMPTOMS AND, LIKE THE FIRST PUPPY, DIED DESPITE RECEIVING TREATMENT. THIS WAS HOW ELMER BECAME THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THIS RESCUE. TODAY ELMER IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY AND WITHOUT ANY KIND OF SEQUEL AND IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FAMILY THAT WILL CONSENT HIM. ELMER IS A FAITHFUL COMPANION WHO LOVES TO BE HUGGED AND Cuddled. HE WILL LOVE TO TAKE WALKS AND WALKS WITH YOU. IT IS PLAYFUL AND FRIENDLY, WHICH MAKES IT IDEAL TO BE WITH CHILDREN AND LITTLE ONES. HE LIKES TO EXPLORE, DISCOVER NEW THINGS, MEET PEOPLE AND ABOVE ALL PLAY. The $550.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to Oregon or Washington. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash.

Story
Welcome Bambam to CCPAL Rescue. Bambam is a 10-week-old Dachshund mix. We think with Chihuahua. These puppies are small at about 5 pounds right now. We think they will be 15 or less full grown. They are good in a playgroup with their siblings. They are getting used to being kenneled and are fine in a car. Bambam is the most vocal of the 3, but Dachshunds are going to typically be vocal dogs. He wants to be loose in a play group with his sisters. Once a Dachshund bonds they bond to a single person and while they can love others in the family, it will be clear who is their person. They are in Texas at the CCPAL Rescue. Bambam can go with children. We like all children to be 8 or older. They were found as strays and pulled from one of the local high kill shelters. Bambam would be best in a home where the person doesn’t work all day every day. A puppy needs time to spend being with her humans and they need to be socialized with other people regularly so they become well rounded adult dogs. Dachshund dogs do best in a home with less steps or levels in the home. We would love someone that loves this breed. I love this breed so I know there are those that feel the same about this loyal and loving breed. They can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Welcome Mutz to CCPAL Rescue. Mutz is a 3-year-old Daug (Dachshund /Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He has an adorable underbit and has really blossomed at the Rescue. He is a quieter dog and has learned to like to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions.
