Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED Introducing Sam! He is a 1-year-old, 21 lb dachshund mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA. He is currently living in a foster home. In his foster mom’s words: “Sam is a squishy, squeezy, kissable, lovable loaf of sweet bread and an all-around good boy.” Sam is a very sweet and playful boy! He loves playing with toys and tennis balls and he can keep himself entertained tossing them around, but really loves when you play with him, too. After a relatively short burst of play time energy, he is ready to relax for a long nap on the bed or couch. He enjoys being included in family time, whether that is hanging outside, lounging on the couch, cashing in on frequent belly rubs, or at bedtime. He is a big-time cuddle bug and would love a home that lets him sleep in bed with them and hang out on the couch. He loves giving and getting kisses. He has not exhibited any separation anxieties while staying in foster. He has been fine left alone, crated or uncrated. He does have an affinity for chowing down on things he shouldn’t - pieces of socks, pieces of soft toys, and cardboard egg cartons being his favorite. He is house trained and doggie door trained. If he doesn’t have free access outside via doggie door, he will whine and meet you at the door to be let out when needed. He has a curious nature and needs a secure backyard where the fence meets the ground as he gets curious if he can see/smell under fences and may try going on his own adventure. He loves exploring the yard and burying his treats (unsure if he remembers where he puts them though!!). He can be a bit shy with new visitors and tends to bark at them but will calm down when you show they are trustworthy. It’s been easier for him to meet new people when you pick him up for a slow intro. He is a charmer though and everyone will love his sweet personality. He is otherwise a very quiet dog. He would be fine being the only dog soaking up all the love you have to give or having a similarly sized companion to play with. He enjoys playing with toys with other dogs, as long as any high value toys or treats aren’t stolen from him during solo enjoyment. Being a young pup, he can be a little jumpy, but it is actually rather cute. Sam would prefer a home where extensive car travel is not a frequent occurrence, as long trips can make him car sick. He has had pretty good luck on motion sickness medication, but he’d prefer shorter rides or to hang at home when possible. Sam is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Say hello to this cutie, Solo! He is a 1-year-old, 32 lb dachshund/chihuahua mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA in hopes of finding his forever home here in WA! Solo is super sweet, friendly, and loves to socialize! He has done well with other dogs in our care and would love another playful dog in the home as a playmate, or he would be fine as an only dog with continued socialization. Solo is a strong boy who will need continued work on his leash manners, as well as his basic obedience training. He does learn quickly, however, and is very treat motivated. Solo has a very loving and adventurous personality. He would love a forever home that takes him on daily walks and lets him explore as much of the world as possible! He would do best in an active home that can provide him the physical activity he needs and would love to cuddle up on the couch with his people at the end of the day! Solo is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Animal Profile: Lemons is an adorable dachshund mix who is estimated to be around ~1 year old and weighs 18lbs. She was rescued from a high kill shelter in Bakersfield, CA.  Foster Update: Lemons has really settled in and her personality has begun to shine as her comfort grows. She is a sweet dog who wants nothing more than to be in your lap under a blanket on the couch. She loves being close to people,  and though she likes to take introductions with new people slowly, she will end up in your lap staring into your eyes.  Lemons is very polite on leash, but doesn't seem to be enjoying time outside in the cold temps. Once we get back into my yard, she sprints for the door and sits and waits patiently for me to catch up with her. Though she can get excited, she is a very calm and loving little girl. She sits politely waiting for me to put her leash on when it is time to go outside and has taken quickly to potty training. She is a fast learner and is eager to please her human- she also knows exactly when it is time to be fed and is great at providing reminders.  Lemons sleeps in a crate in my bedroom and does not make a noise all night and will happily get in her crate when I leave for work if a Kong full of peanut butter is involved. She struggled with boundaries with my resident dog at first, but with some guidance, she has provided him with the space he needs. They try to play together, but both are a little reluctant and awkward figuring it out and usually end up going for separate toys.   I think she would do well in a house with another dog or by herself. She co-exists well with the resident dog in her foster home, but she does require a slow and structured introduction. Her forever family would need to follow some guidelines to help Lemons understand the dynamic in her new pack for a successful transition.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, andhealth certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from euthanasia at [Animal Shelter] in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on [DATE]. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.December 12, 2024, 4:35 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Lt. Dan! You got new legs...err..a new leash! Lt. Dan is an adorable short stack with little legs, large ears, and a big fat head. Lt. Dan is one easy going dude. He has been in a family home with dogs, cats and kids. Unfortunately his family had a change of living circumstance and were not able to take Dan with them. He has been neutered and is on his way to the PNW. We cannot wait to meet him.  Foster Update:  With short little legs, big paws, a chunky head, and a baguette body, Lt. Dan is the cutest and happiest guy! His tail is always wagging and he lights up when he sees people. He walks nicely on leash, but will pull if he sees a critter like a rabbit or squirrel. He sleeps through the night in his crate and is great about going potty outside. Lt. Dan is very food motivated which is helpful for training. He enjoys toys and playtime but also loves to snuggle up. He has a good balance of energy and calm and has been a quiet work from home companion. Adopter profile: Dan is a confident dog, and will need an experienced handler who will give him clear guidance. Dan follows the cues of the resident dogs in his foster home and would do best in a home with another dog. Due to his exuberance, Dan would not be a good fit for a home with children. No first time dog owners, please. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog is being transferred from Animal Advocacy & Rescue Center, our partner in Del Rio Texas and arriving via Paws Up Rescue on 11/10/24 to the Seattle area. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.December 6, 2024, 4:22 pm

Story
HE WAS FOUND WITH TWO PUPPIES UNDER A HIGHWAY BRIDGE. UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM TESTED POSITIVE FOR DISTEMPER AND, BECAUSE THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY VERY ADVANCED, HE DIED A FEW DAYS AFTER STARTING HIS TREATMENT. ELMER AND THE OTHER PUPPY, TITAN, WERE PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, ONE DAY AFTER THE END OF QUARANTINE, TITAN SHOWED DISTEMPOR SYMPTOMS AND, LIKE THE FIRST PUPPY, DIED DESPITE RECEIVING TREATMENT. THIS WAS HOW ELMER BECAME THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THIS RESCUE. TODAY ELMER IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY AND WITHOUT ANY KIND OF SEQUEL AND IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FAMILY THAT WILL CONSENT HIM. ELMER IS A FAITHFUL COMPANION WHO LOVES TO BE HUGGED AND Cuddled. HE WILL LOVE TO TAKE WALKS AND WALKS WITH YOU. IT IS PLAYFUL AND FRIENDLY, WHICH MAKES IT IDEAL TO BE WITH CHILDREN AND LITTLE ONES. HE LIKES TO EXPLORE, DISCOVER NEW THINGS, MEET PEOPLE AND ABOVE ALL PLAY. The $550.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to Oregon or Washington. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash.
