Story
Meet Wilma!Wilma is a 6-year-old mixed-breed Doberman Pinscher with a gentle and thoughtful nature. She's a gentle soul who is still learning that the world isn't such a scary place, and she grows braver with each passing day. While many dogs her age already know the joy of toys and walks, Wilma is beginning to discover these things at her own pace, and we see her learning everyday.Wilma truly shines during quiet, cozy moments. Some of her favorite things include relaxing in her bed, enjoying tasty treats and snacks, working on a Kong, and spending time with her beloved sisters. She came into our care alongside three other dogs, and despite an unstable past, the bond between them has been a source of great comfort. Watching her sisters gain confidence has helped Wilma do the same, often by following their lead and finding the courage to try something new.Wilma is sweet and calm, and as her confidence continues to grow, she has begun to show glimpses of her playful side. She enjoys quiet companionship and is happiest in a peaceful environment where she can feel safe and supported.Since Wilma came into care with her siblings, a home with a calm, confident dog may be beneficial for her, provided slow and proper introductions are done. An understanding family who is prepared to take things slowly and guide her through this next chapter will be essential in helping Wilma truly thrive.Do you think you could be Wilma's person? Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or2.)Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Story
Both of these ladies are super sweet. They lived most of their lives outside before coming to live with us. They are working on manners like house training and counter surfing, but are highly food motivated. Both are crate trained. Neither has ever been violent but they are fed separately. They are great with kids (they live in a 6 kid home). Rosie is an escape artist and can easily jump over fences. Jubilee is a home body who can open some doors, but they both love running around. Rosie is about 7 and Jubilee 4 or 5. They are adorable and sweet and hyper and deserve a beautiful life. They are good with cats. They have challenges, but they are truly amazing souls. They dog sitters always fall in love with them. Why do we need to rehome them? Last year I got divorced and he did not take them as agreed. I work from home, so I was trying to make it work, but with life and 6 kids, I struggled walking them enough. When with my son's recent cancer diagnosis, it has become unmanageable.

Story
Meet Pebbles!Pebbles is an 8-year-old hound with a heart as big as her ears. She is incredibly sweet and loves to cuddle and be pet, making her a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a gentle, affectionate dog. Once she is comfortable with her people, Pebbles will happily cuddle right into your lap, soaking up every bit of love she can get. When she truly trusts you, she won't want to leave your side.Pebbles comes from an unstable background and will do best with a patient and understanding family who can help her feel safe and confident as she adjusts to new situations. While recently spending a bit of time in foster, she quickly settled into a routine. She enjoys her calm walks, is dog friendly, curious and really likes car rides. She also lets you know she needs to go outside by standing near the door. By evening though she is ready to snuggle and snooze until bed time. With time, consistency, and kindness she has demonstrated she is ready to let her personality shine. True to her Coonhound heritage she can be vocal, but not excessively. She would thrive in a calm home with plenty of affection. Pebbles came into our care with her siblings and may enjoy having a calm canine companion in her new home, provided slow and proper introductions are done to ensure everyone is comfortable.Pebbles will need to be on a urinary diet, which may add to monthly costs.Do you think you could be Pebbles' person? Story
Meet Gentleman!🤵This special man is looking for a home to call his own. Gentleman is just as his name suggests, he is a smart, distinguished boy with a big heart and lots of love to share. While we love him dearly, Gentleman has spent quite a bit of time with us here, and we would all love nothing more than for him to begin his next chapter and settle into his forever home. Finding this special man a home where he can chase a ball, go for quiet, peaceful walks and then cuddle up at your side as your new best friend would make all of our wishes come true!Gentleman has been working very hard to live up to his name. With daily training sessions to perfect his manners, he has made wonderful progress. He can be unsure of new people, and his new family must be committed to continuing to support him in his training as he learns to navigate the world calmly and politely. The ideal adopter would be willing to come meet Gentleman a few times before he is ready to head off to his new life.Like many distinguished gentlemen, our Gentleman has quite the refined palate. Due to severe allergies, he must maintain a strict hypoallergenic diet to keep him looking and feeling his best. Additionally, he is on a daily allergy medication to keep him feeling good and prevent any allergy flare ups. Adopters must be prepared for the costs associated with these medical needs. If you think Gentleman sounds like the guy for you please fill out an application today!1.) Story
Meet Bane! 💙Bane is a handsome, approximately 3-year-old Pit Bull with endless energy and love to share. Some of his favourite things include time with his people, soaking up all the pets and affection, exploring the outdoors and sniffing around the yard. He is also a big fan of a Kong or a treat puzzle! If you're looking for a smart and loyal companion, Bane could be your perfect match.Bane is an energetic, strong boy who will do best in an active home that can keep up with his zest for life. He needs regular physical exercise as well as mental enrichment to help him stay happy and balanced. Because of his strength, Bane can be powerful on leash and will require an adopter who is confident and capable of handling him.Bane would greatly benefit from working with an AnimalKind trainer using positive reinforcement to help him learn leash skills, manners, and build on his training overall. With structure, consistency, and guidance, he has great potential to thrive.Bane is looking for a home where he can be the only animal. He does not get along with other dogs and has a high prey drive, so a quiet neighborhood with minimal encounters with other animals would be ideal for him.In the right home, Bane will be an incredibly devoted companion who gives endless love and affection in return. He's searching for someone who understands his needs and is ready to invest in helping him be the best version of himself.*** Please acknowledge local bylaws for pit bull and bully type breeds.
