Story
Looking for the ultimate playmate? Meet Baby, an adorable, 1-year-old mixed breed pup who`s fully grown at under 30 pounds and bursting with charm, energy, and affection. Baby is the perfect mix of playful and sweet. She loves to learn, thrives on pleasing her people, and is absolutely obsessed with balls and fetch. If you`re someone who enjoys active playtime and a dog who’s always ready for the next throw, Baby might just be your perfect match. She gets along well with most other dogs and would likely enjoy a canine companion, though she would be better off in a home with no cats. With her friendly personality and eagerness to connect, she has all the makings of a wonderful family dog or loyal sidekick. Baby is truly an absolute doll! Smart, loving, and ready to bring joy (and a tennis ball) into your life. Our dog adoption fee is $150 and that includes up-to-date vaccinations and preventatives, spay/neuter, Heart worm testing, and their microchip. Meet our adoptable pets Tuesday-Saturday from 1pm-4pm or get a head start on adoption by filling out our questionnaire at agcshelter.org/adopt-1

Story
This sweet boy may have had a rough start, but you’d never know it from his joyful spirit. He came to us as a stray, and while our vet discovered that he has some old, healed fractures in his back legs that didn’t quite set right, it doesn’t slow him down one bit. His back legs may be a little wonky, but he gets around just fine—and honestly, it just adds to his unique charm. He’s a vocal little guy who loves to chat with you, especially when he’s excited or ready for attention. And attention? Yes, please! He absolutely thrives on love and affection. Whether he’s soaking up pets or trotting around outside enjoying the fresh air, he’s happiest when he’s near his people. And if you sit still long enough, get ready—this boy is a certified kiss-giver and will happily cover you in smooches. He’s looking for a home that will appreciate him for exactly who he is: a resilient, loving, slightly quirky pup with a whole lot of heart. Our dog adoption fee is $150 and includes their spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccines and preventatives. You can find or adoption questionnaire at agcshelter.org/adopt-1 Or stop by and meet our adoptable animals Tuesday-Saturday 1-4pm

Story
Sweet Pea is a 4-month-old puppy with a BIG personality packed into a tiny, wiggly body! She’s a self-proclaimed zoomie champion, certified energizer bunny, and all-around jumpin’ jelly bean. This girl is always ready for action — whether that’s bouncing around in play, showing off her goofy side as a professional derp, or having a full-on “conversation” as your favorite talkative negotiator. She’s still learning the ropes of puppy life, including leash walking and keeping all four paws on the ground (because saying hello without jumping is just so hard when you’re this excited about life!). With consistency and positive guidance, she’s going to pick things up quickly. But don’t let all that energy fool you — Sweet Pea is also a devoted lap collector and a clumsy cuddler. When the zoomies wind down, she’s more than happy to crash into your lap (gracefully… or not ??) and soak up all the love she can get.If you’re looking for a fun, goofy, high-energy pup who will keep you laughing and shower you with affection, Sweet Pea is ready to bounce her way right into your heart. ??Our dog adoption fee is $150 and includes their spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives. You can get a head start by filling out our adoption questionnaire at https://agcshelter.org/adopt-1, or you can stop in at 2205 E. Washington St. in Mt. Pleasant, IA Tuesday-Saturday from 1pm-4pm. No appointment required!

Story
Hank is everything people love about Huskies wrapped up in one incredibly handsome package. With his striking black-and-white coat, fluffy fur, and bright personality, he turns heads wherever he goes. But Hank is more than just a pretty face—he’s a fantastic dog with a big heart and an even bigger zest for life.Hank loves making friends and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He does great with kids and is even eager to make friends with cats, often trying to convince them to join in on the fun. He’s social, playful, and happiest when he has company. As you might expect from a Husky, Hank is an active boy who will thrive with a family that can keep up with his energy level. He loves to be involved, explore, play, and spend time outdoors. Whether it’s long walks, hikes, play sessions, or adventures, Hank is ready to be your enthusiastic partner.Hank was known to be a bit of an escape artist in his previous home, but we’ve noticed something important during his time with us: he doesn’t seem interested in wandering off when he has his people nearby. Here at the shelter, he stays in the yard and is content to hang out, as long as someone is outside with him. More than anything, Hank simply wants companionship and interaction. If you`re looking for a beautiful, friendly, active dog who wants to be part of everything you do, Hank may be your perfect match. He’s ready to find a home that will give him the exercise, engagement, and companionship he craves. Our dog adoption fee is $150 and includes their spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, age-appropriate vaccinations, and preventatives. You can find our adoption questionnaire at agcshelter.org/adopt-1 or stop in to meet all of our adoptable pets Tuesday–Saturday from 1pm–4pm. No appointment required! Story
Shaggy is a young sweetheart with a soft spirit and a heart full of love. He was found out in the country alongside his brother, Scooby, and it’s likely the two had been running for quite some time before they were brought to safety. Through it all, Shaggy has remained incredibly gentle and trusting.A submissive little people-pleaser, Shaggy has a softer, more sensitive energy than his brother. He looks to his humans for reassurance and truly wants to do the right thing. He’s extremely sweet, playful, and very malleable — the kind of pup who will blossom beautifully with patient guidance and positive reinforcement.Shaggy enjoys playtime and affection in equal measure. He handles new people and situations fairly well, especially when he has a calm, confident human by his side. He seems relatively dog-friendly, though dog-to-dog meet-and-greets are always recommended for any dogs in the home.Like any young pup, Shaggy will need continued work on general manners, learning to settle, and potty training. But his eager-to-please personality will make training a rewarding experience for the right family.Shaggy is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, and heartworm tested (negative). His adoption fee has been generously fully sponsored by his finder! You can apply to adopt Shaggy at agcshelter.org/adopt-1 or come by to meet him and our other adoptable pets Tuesday-Saturday from 1pm-4pm.If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who will grow alongside you and soak up every bit of love you give, Shaggy is ready to start his next chapter.
