Story
Buck is a German Shepherd and Husky mixed doggy who is about 3 years old.Poor guy was surrendered after his family lost their home.Despite the big changes in his life, Buck’s sweet nature is beginning to shine through. When Buck first arrived, he was very scared and shut down, taking time to adjust to his new surroundings. Recently, he’s started coming out of his shell and showing his true personality — a gentle, free-spirited boy who just wants love and stability.According to his previous owner, Buck does well with cats, dogs, and kids, making him a wonderful candidate for many types of homes. He has a calm, kind demeanor and is learning that people can still be trusted. Buck would thrive with a patient family willing to give him time to continue building confidence. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality really starts to bloom. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a soft heart and adventurous spirit, Buck may be the perfect match for you. He is described as a 'Free Spirit'. Intelligent, independent, confident and clever, I prefer making my own decisions but will listen to you if you make a good case. We’re partners in this adventure. Treat me like one and we’ll both live happily ever after. (Internally motivated). It is recommended that whenever you add a new animal to your household, it is done with a slow and monitored introduction.Adoption fees:Cats - $105 for one or only $150 for two!Dogs - $155For more information on this animal contact washingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comor call 319-653-6713All our animals have been spayed/neutered (or will be arranged if currently too young).Dogs will be tested for heart worms, vaccinated against distemper/parvo and rabies. We recommend crate training until you’re confident that your dog is used to his/her new home. For more information visit: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/dog-behavior/weekend-crate-training.Cats will be vaccinated against feline distemper and feline parvo, and have been wormed. All animals will be bathed and treated for fleas/ear mites. Microchipping will take place at the time of adoption. For an application to adopt, go to:https://www.pawsandmorewashington.org/adoptIf you cannot currently adopt, donations are ALWAYS welcome via our website Donate Now button at pawsandmorewashington.org Or mail to:PAWS and More Animal Shelter 1004 1/2 West Madison, Washington, IA 52353To sponsor an animal, emailwashingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comor call 319-653-6713.Hours:Monday closedTuesday thru Sunday noon to 4 Get directions at:washingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comTo foster an animal (any length of time), complete the questionnaire atpawsandmorewashington.org/foster

Story
Elizabeth is a female Shepherd mixed doggie who is about 9 years old.She is currently being fostered.Per her foster mom:Elizabeth loves people, attention, and mostly food. She alsoloves dog chews and small stuffies to carry around to nuzzle.Elizabeth plays chase with my cat. The only downside is she chatters her teeth when excited and ends up taking little nips out of the cat, which he does not appreciate. But my cat however will play chase with her and reach and to grab her if she walks by him. Love/hate relationship?Elizabeth seems to be very dog selective so would probably do best as the only dog in the home. Another observation I quickly made is that potty training was never fully achieved. We are working on her communicating when she needs to go out, but this area still needs work.Elizabeth is a sweetheart of a dog. She loves with her whole heart. She is a protector by nature so she doesn’t let you out of site. If ever there was a definition of Velcro dog, she is it. She does a happy dance when you come home, when you get ready to take her out and when she knows you’re going to feed her. She is playful at times and will always look at you like you’re the best thing ever! She may love you more than food but don’t ask her to prove it.She is protective of her food, and she is protective of my food. She has gotten after Winston more than once when he was too interested in my food. I’m not sure if that protection for me or a “if anyone is getting some it me!”She would indeed be a delight for someone in a one dog household.Elizabeth is described as a 'Constant Companion'. Looking for an emotionally secure, mutually satisfying, low maintenance relationship? I am all you need. Let me sit at your feet, walk by your side, and I’ll be your devoted companion forever. (Socially motivated).
