Story
In celebration of America's 250th Birthday, the adoption fee for this doggy has been reduced to $25.00 thru 7/31.Boots is a male Husky mixed doggy who is about 1 year old.His adoption fee has been waived so with an approved application you can take this doggy home for free!Life is an adventure to him, and he's always ready to explore, play, and make new friends. For one wonderful week, Boots got to experience life in a home. He learned how nice it is to have a cozy place to rest, people to love, and a routine all his own. Now he's back with us, through no fault of his own, and while he's taking it all in stride, we know he's dreaming of the day he finds a family that's forever. This handsome boy is smart, curious, and full of joyful energy. He'll thrive with an active family that enjoys walks, hikes, playtime, and making memories together. At the end of the day, all Boots really wants is someone to share life's adventures with. His adoption fee has been waived, so all that's missing is the right person to say, "You're home."Could that be you? Come meet Boots and see just how quickly he'll steal your heart. He is described as a 'Busy Bee'. I’m a naturally playful, curious, and trusting canine. Take me for a big walk every day; give me something to do. After my job’s done, I’ll curl up in front of the fire with you in the evenings. (Externally motivated). It is recommended that whenever you add a new animal to your household, it is done with a slow and monitored introduction.Adoption fees:Cats - $105 for one or only  $150 for two!Dogs - $155For more information on this animal contact washingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comor call 319-653-6713All our animals have been spayed/neutered (or will be arranged if currently too young).Dogs will be tested for heart worms, vaccinated against distemper/parvo and rabies. We recommend crate training until you’re confident that your dog is used to his/her new home. For more information visit: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/dog-behavior/weekend-crate-training.Cats will be vaccinated against feline distemper and feline parvo, and have been wormed. All animals will be bathed and treated for fleas/ear mites. Microchipping will take place at the time of adoption. For an application to adopt, go to:https://www.pawsandmorewashington.org/adoptIf you cannot currently adopt, donations are ALWAYS welcome via our website Donate Now button at pawsandmorewashington.org Or mail to:PAWS and More Animal Shelter 1004 1/2 West Madison, Washington, IA 52353To sponsor an animal, emailwashingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comor call 319-653-6713.Hours:Monday closedTuesday thru Sunday noon to 4 Get directions at:washingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comTo foster an animal (any length of time), complete the questionnaire atpawsandmorewashington.org/foster

During the entire month of August, we will be having a Clear the Shelters event. This means half-price adoptions! Cats will be $50 and Dogs will be $75.Maverick is a male Husky mixed doggy who is about 3 years old.Unfortunately his owner couldn't care for him anymore so had to surrender him. He's always ready for his next adventure, whether it's a long walk, a hike, or exploring somewhere new with his favorite people.Maverick gets along well with other dogs, so he'd enjoy having a canine companion to play with. He would do best in a home without cats, where he can thrive and let his fun-loving personality shine. If you're looking for an active, loyal companion who's always up for making memories, Maverick is ready to be your adventure buddy. Come meet him and see where your next adventure begins! He is described as a 'Free Spirit'. Intelligent, independent, confident and clever, I prefer making my own decisions but will listen to you if you make a good case. We’re partners in this adventure. Story
During the entire month of August, we will be having a Clear the Shelters event. This means half-price adoptions! Cats will be $50 and Dogs will be $75.Chewy is a male Chihuahua abd Dachshund mixed doggy who is about 7 years old. He’s the kind of little guy who wants to be right by your side and simply be part of your life. Chewy’s journey hasn’t been easy. He was left behind when his previous owner moved away, but thankfully, a kind new roommate stepped in and gave him the care and love he needed. When that person had to leave their own difficult situation, Chewy has once again found himself looking for a safe place to call home. Chewy has lived with both dogs and cats and does well with them as long as they're mellow and respectful. He'd love a peaceful home where he can relax, feel safe, and stay close to his people. This little guy has been through enough changes. Now he deserves a forever home where he can settle in, feel loved, and be someone's constant companion. If you're looking for a loyal little buddy who just wants to be by your side, come meet Chewy! He is described as a 'Constant Companion'. Looking for an emotionally secure, mutually satisfying, low maintenance relationship? I am all you need. Let me sit at your feet, walk by your side, and I’ll be your devoted companion forever. Story
Thanks to a generous sponsor, the adoption fee has already been paid.So with an approved application you can take this doggy home for free!Elizabeth is a female Shepherd mixed doggie who is about 9 years old. This sweet girl has lumbar spondylosis, atypical sacral osteophytosis. This often results in pain and spasmodic sensations and potentially effects urine and bowel movement. She takes pain meds daily for the discomfort.Elizabeth walks beautifully on leash, and gets along well with other animals, though she prefers to have her own space and enjoy life at her own pace. She’s ready to spend her golden years surrounded by kindness, love, and the quiet companionship she deserves.Elizabeth is described as a 'Free Spirit'. Intelligent, independent, confident and clever, I prefer making my own decisions but will listen to you if you make a good case. We’re partners in this adventure. Treat me like one and we’ll both live happily ever after. (Internally motivated).Per her previous foster mom:Elizabeth loves people, attention, and mostly food. She also loves dog chews and small stuffies to carry around to nuzzle.Elizabeth plays chase with my cat. The only downside is she chatters her teeth when excited and ends up taking little nips out of the cat, which he does not appreciate. But my cat however will play chase with her and reach and to grab her if she walks by him. Love/hate relationship?Elizabeth seems to be very dog selective so would probably do best as the only dog in the home.Elizabeth is a sweetheart of a dog. She loves with her whole heart. She is a protector by nature so she doesn’t let you out of site. If ever there was a definition of Velcro dog, she is it. She does a happy dance when you come home, when you get ready to take her out and when she knows you’re going to feed her. She is playful at times and will always look at you like you’re the best thing ever! She may love you more than food but don’t ask her to prove it.She is protective of her food, and she is protective of my food. She has gotten after Winston more than once when he was too interested in my food. I’m not sure if that protection for me or a “if anyone is getting some it me!”It is recommended that whenever you add a new animal to your household, it is done with a slow and monitored introduction.Adoption fees:Cats - $105 for one or only $150 for two!Dogs - $155For more information on this animal contact washingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comor call 319-653-6713All our animals have been spayed/neutered (or will be arranged if currently too young).Dogs will be tested for heart worms, vaccinated against distemper/parvo and rabies.
