Story
Hayden is a cheerful and affectionate Lab mix with a big smile and an even bigger heart! Around 3 years old, Hayden came in as a stray with his companion Morgan, and he has proven himself to be a friendly, social, and well-balanced dog. Hayden gets along wonderfully with people and other dogs, and he has very little prey drive. He’s the kind of dog who enjoys being around others and is always ready for pets, playtime, or a nice walk. Like many dogs adjusting to shelter life, Hayden could still use some help polishing up his manners, but he is eager to learn and responds well to positive attention. With his happy personality and easygoing nature, Hayden is ready to bring joy and companionship to a lucky forever home.

If you’ve been dreaming of a “mini husky” with all the loyalty and companionship of a Lab or Retriever, Arwen is ready to steal your heart. Arwen is incredibly friendly with both people and other dogs, making her an easy companion to bring along on adventures or outings. She loves being part of the action and thrives on attention from her humans. Like her husky roots suggest, she’s smart, expressive, and full of charm — and her Heeler side adds that devoted, loyal nature that makes her bond deeply with her people. She knows she’s the star of the show and isn’t afraid to remind everyone with her playful antics and confident attitude. Whether she’s making new friends, soaking up attention, or showing off her silly side, Arwen is guaranteed to bring laughter, love, and endless personality into her future home.

Story
Bolt’s journey hasn’t been easy, but watching him learn that people can be safe has been one of the most rewarding experiences. ❤️ Bolt was found as a stray in rural Grant County and taken in by LAFP before going into foster care. His foster did an incredible job earning his trust and giving him the space he needed to start feeling comfortable. Eventually, Bolt gained enough confidence to explore the yard, play fetch, and interact with her dog — but human connection was still very scary for him. Handling pressure on a leash caused panic responses, and Bolt would “crocodile” when he felt trapped or overwhelmed. This behavior isn’t defiance — it’s fear. Dogs like Bolt survive by protecting themselves, and trust has to be built slowly, fairly, and consistently. That’s when we stepped in to help continue his rehabilitation journey. With a long line, positive reinforcement, structure, patience, and allowing him to move at his own pace, Bolt has been learning how to exist safely in new environments without feeling threatened. He spends time hanging out with me while I clean, observes daily routines, and is finally starting to understand that he doesn’t have to be afraid anymore. And he is doing SO well. 🖤 Bolt is available for adoption, but he will need a calm, patient person or family willing to continue building his confidence through trust, consistency, and kindness. He doesn’t need perfection — he just needs someone with a gentle heart who understands that healing takes time. Dogs like Bolt are worth every ounce of patience. Watching them choose trust after surviving fear is something truly special.
