*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*The Yakima Humane Society provides care for thousands of animals each year, some of which require time in foster care before they are ready to be adopted. Fostering a homeless pet is both a rewarding and enriching experience; it is also great for families or individuals who love animals but cannot commit to having a full-time companion animal. The care that dedicated Foster Care Families provide is invaluable, both to the animals fostered and the people that adopt them. You can foster as much or as little as you like, and we need foster homes for a wide variety of animals - kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, and an occasional small & furry animal! You can learn more about our foster program and fill out an application athttp://www.yakimahumane.org/get-involved/foster/.*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*

Story
Meet Tuck, an almost eight year old German Shepherd Mix. Tuck was picked up as a stray in July of 2023 before being brought to us. We can't believe this mature gentleman has been with us for this long! Tuck is a great size at 66 pounds and is stocky rather than tall so he looks more like a medium sized dog. He walks very well on the leash with minimal pulling and is an all around great boy who enjoys human interaction. Tuck is all about the treats! He loves anything food related and with eagerly sit for them. We think he is a pretty easy-going guy although he can be dominant with other dogs so if you have another dog in the household a meet and greet should happen prior to adoption. Tuck would be very happy as an only dog and doesn't need canine a companion, so if you are a one-dog household he thinks that sounds great. Tuck is a mellow dude who still enjoys his walks but doesn't have all that puppy energy, we think that is pretty great. He would make a great companion and we hope he finds his home soon. Tuck went to the SunDome for the March Muttness event and did amazing! He walked with both the staff and the public and loved the attention. Tuck had no issue being petted or approached by the crowd while kenneled and loved getting treats. He watched all the action from his kennel and was a big fan of all the attention. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Quincey, a 4-year-old German Shepherd/Husky mix.Are you looking for a dog that loves attention and is amazing at playing fetch? Look no further! Quincey is a confident, energetic and very sweet boy. He loves getting scratches and cuddles so much that he will bark for more if you stop. He loves to be out in the park and seems used to a more outdoor lifestyle. Quincey would love a home with a securely fenced in yard where he can play fetch with his new owner. Quincey does pull on his leash in his excitement but he is getting better about that. He may do best in a home with no small children at this time until he gets some focused training as he tends to jump up when overly excited. Story
Buzz went to the SunDome for the March Muttness event and did amazing! He was quiet for the whole event and walked with both the staff and the public. Buzz had no issue being petted or approached by the crowd while kenneled and loved getting treats. He spend most the night patiently waiting for attention and leaning in to peoples hands or legs when they spent time with him.Meet Buzz, a 7-year-old male Shepherd mix.Buzz would be a distinguished gentleman if he wasn't so willing to roll over and have his belly rubbed. This great guy is so much fun to just sit in the grass and spend time with. The photographer's helper sat criss-cross-apple-sauce and Buzz crawled his whole 73 pounds right into her lap. Buzz is not a fan of their cats, so would best to be in a home without cats. Buzz did a sleep over and was an all-around great boy that does well on a leash. This pet is available for adoption on 9/3/23 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Mr. Blue, a three and a half year old Husky/Pitbull mix (we affectionately refer to the breed mix as Pitsky). The boy has stunningly blue eyes that draw you in, add on the black and white coat with hints of brindle undertone and you are mesmerized. Mr. blue is excited about pretty much any situation, just wanting to be a part of the action. He is still working on some of his manners such as not pulling on the leash and he is a strong boy so he would benefit from some training. But don't let that throw you off, Mr. Blue has a lot of good traits. One of those is that he is super food motivated which makes it easy to get his attention and should make training a breeze! Mr. Blue has also met several other large breed dogs in the play yard and has done well with all of them. He really just wanted to play and if the other dog started to get worked up with his enthusiasm, he was easy to redirect by calling his name. We think with some structure and training Mr. Blue has all the building blocks to make a fantastic dog for someone who enjoys and active companion. Mr. Blue went to the SunDome for the March Muttness event and did amazing! He was quiet for the whole event and walked with both the staff and the public. Mr. Blue had no issue being pet or approached by the crowd while kenneled and loved getting treats. He spent all night being a really good boy and was happy for every pet he got. Mr. Blue is located at our Ellensburg shelter. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org.
