Story
Rocky came to us a few months ago as a stray. I’ve tried all the avenues to find his owners without any luck. He is only about a year and a half old, he is neutered, and I have had all of his vaccines & dewormings completed. He is also now microchipped. He is extremely loving, full of energy, and loves to fetch! He is wonderful with kids (we have two boys, 9 & 13) and he loves our two Anatolian Shepherds. Sadly, our one Anatolian does not like Rocky at all and has become aggressive and extremely territorial with him. We would love to have Rocky as our own, but aren’t able to and would love to find him his forever home. He loves to go for car rides, goes into his pin easily, sleeps very well, eats well (and very fast - we’re working on that). Being very young still, he is a chewer and will destroy all squeaky/plush toys within mins! And fluffy dog beds/towels/blankets - we’re working on that too! As long as he has chuck-it balls, chew toys, & bully sticks, his chewing is controlled.

*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*The Yakima Humane Society provides care for thousands of animals each year, some of which require time in foster care before they are ready to be adopted. Fostering a homeless pet is both a rewarding and enriching experience; it is also great for families or individuals who love animals but cannot commit to having a full-time companion animal. The care that dedicated Foster Care Families provide is invaluable, both to the animals fostered and the people that adopt them. You can foster as much or as little as you like, and we need foster homes for a wide variety of animals - kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, and an occasional small & furry animal! You can learn more about our foster program and fill out an application athttp://www.yakimahumane.org/get-involved/foster/.*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*

Story
Meet Tuck, an almost eight year old German Shepherd Mix. Tuck was picked up as a stray in July of 2023 before being brought to us. We can't believe this mature gentleman has been with us for this long! Tuck is a great size at 66 pounds and is stocky rather than tall so he looks more like a medium sized dog. He walks very well on the leash with minimal pulling and is an all around great boy who enjoys human interaction. Tuck is all about the treats! He loves anything food related and with eagerly sit for them. We think he is a pretty easy-going guy although he can be dominant with other dogs so if you have another dog in the household a meet and greet should happen prior to adoption. Tuck would be very happy as an only dog and doesn't need canine a companion, so if you are a one-dog household he thinks that sounds great. Tuck is a mellow dude who still enjoys his walks but doesn't have all that puppy energy, we think that is pretty great. He would make a great companion and we hope he finds his home soon. Tuck went to the SunDome for the March Muttness event and did amazing! He walked with both the staff and the public and loved the attention. Tuck had no issue being petted or approached by the crowd while kenneled and loved getting treats. He watched all the action from his kennel and was a big fan of all the attention. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.
