Story
Phoebe – Gentle, Resilient, and Learning to Shine Phoebe’s story is one of quiet strength and second chances. This 1½-year-old beauty came to MAGDRL in rough shape after being severely underweight and neglected, but her gentle heart never faltered. From the moment she arrived, Phoebe has shown herself to be sweet, curious, and eager to please. Phoebe has been adjusting well in her foster home and has been opening up to her true loving playful personality. She loves her toys and always keeps one with her wherever she moves through the house. Phoebe loves learning and working on her training commands, she gets super excited when she sees her leash come out and her cheese being cut up and prepped. She still loves to cuddle when given the opportunity, but she has also started to feel more comfortable being independent and spending time laying by herself or finding somewhere the sun is coming in the window so she can nap. She is very interested in the outside world but is still nervous and timid outside. She loves to watch the neighborhood kids and dogs walk by from her window by the couch. As the weather gets nicer, she is becoming more interested in hanging outside and laying in the sun. She gets into her zoomies mode outside every now and then loves to sprint full speed around the yard and jump around with a ball. Phoebe needs a home that will continue to socialize her and help her build more confidence. She is so loving and would love a forever home, could that be you? Phoebe will make a wonderful companion for an active home where she can continue learning about the joys of indoor life and being loved. Phoebe is ready to meet her forever family! Story
Meet handsome Captain Jack — a gentle giant with a heart as big as he is. 🖤 At 4 years old, Captain Jack is the perfect blend of goofy best friend and loyal companion. He’s the kind of dog who will make you laugh with his silly personality one minute, then lean into you for the sweetest cuddle the next. Beneath his striking Great Dane presence is a deeply affectionate soul who simply wants to love and be loved. Captain Jack is wonderfully well-mannered and truly the total package: • House broken • Crate trained • Leash trained • Knows all basic commands • Very obedient • Medium energy level • In perfect health He does best with children 12+ due to his large size and would thrive in a home with other large dogs. He is also okay with cats. Whether you live in a quiet home, a busy family environment, or somewhere in between, Captain Jack adapts beautifully and is ready to become someone’s loyal shadow. This boy deserves more than just a home — he deserves a family who will treasure the incredible dog he is. Great Danes are known for their devotion, and Captain Jack embodies that completely. He will be your couch companion, your protector, your comic relief, and your best friend all wrapped into one oversized, lovable package. Located in Harpers Ferry If you think Captain Jack may be the missing piece to your family, please reach out. Story
Benny is a sweet, curious, and laid-back boy who is ready to find his forever home. He loves people deeply — whether that means a good cuddle, belly scratches, or just hanging out together. Whatever his people are doing, he wants to be part of it. Benny loves the world around him. He's super happy being outside, watching nature from any window, and soaking up car rides with the breeze on his face. Back inside, you'll find him napping like a rock, playing with squeaky toys, or curled up close to you. He doesn't bark much, which makes him a pretty easy houseguest. He's doing well with housetraining, crate training, and leash walking, and he gets along great with other dogs. He hasn't met young kids or cats yet. If you're looking for a loving, easygoing pup who just wants to be near you and soak up life together, Benny might just be your guy!

💗 Meet Darcey — A Smart, Loving, and Playful Great Dane Mix Say hello to Darcey, a beautiful 1½-year-old Great Dane mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. At around 90 pounds, she may be a bit smaller than a typical Dane, but she’s absolutely convinced she’s a lap dog — and she’ll happily prove it every chance she gets! Darcey starts training on 3/13 to ensure she is ready to be the best girl she can be for whatever lucky family is ready to give her a 'furever' home. Darcey is full of life, love, and enthusiasm. She’s wonderful with kids, adores playing with her foster family’s nephews, and loves her toys — especially her new favorite stuffed animal, “Stuffy.” She’s a bright, eager-to-please girl who loves learning new things and showing off her smarts. In fact, she learned to ring a bell to go outside in less than a week — and since she’s the only dog in her foster home, she figured it out all on her own! She’s also crate trained, enjoys routine, and has settled beautifully into home life. Car rides can make her a little anxious at first, but once the road smooths out, she relaxes and enjoys the trip. Her DNA mix is: 91% Great Dane 8% Weimaraner and 1% Argentine Dogo. Darcey’s mix of intelligence, affection, and energy makes her an absolute joy to be around. She loves to snuggle, give kisses, and be part of whatever her people are doing — whether that’s playtime, cuddle time, or just hanging out together. She would prefer to be the only pet in the home. Darcey is ready to find a forever family who will appreciate her sweet nature, loyalty, and zest for life. She will do best with an experienced owner who is comfortable with training and discipline. She also needs a home that can provide her with lots of exercise and an active lifestyle. 💖 Darcey is available for adoption now — and she’s ready to fill your home with love and laughter! Story
Meet Tex – Your Perfect Laid-Back Companion 🐾 Tex is an 8-year-old gentleman with a calm, easygoing personality who is now under the care of MAGDRL. He is currently being boarded while we search for a loving foster or forever home where he can enjoy the comfort he deserves. Tex has a true “old soul” demeanor. He lives for affection and will happily soak up pets for as long as you’re willing to give them. His favorite place is near an open window where he can bask in the sunshine and relax the day away. While he’s not overly playful, he does enjoy the occasional burst of zoomies that show off his fun side. He ignores other dogs, does well in a kennel environment, and is comfortable with non-dominant male dogs. Tex previously lived peacefully with a 9-year-old female Mastiff mix. He is crate trained, though he hasn’t needed a crate in years, and he does not have separation anxiety—making him an easy addition to a home. Tex is now in a foster home in NJ and is doing great with his Dane foster sister. Tex is a sweet senior boy who just wants to be loved and cuddled, a wonderful companion for a quiet home. He will do best with female dogs. Tex is trustworthy in the house, does great in the car or on a leash. He is crate trained but has proven he doesn't need to be crated if left unsupervised. Tex is such a gentle old soul, if you want to give a senior a place to live out their golden years, Tex is the boy for you!. If interested, Please contact Chelsea at chelsea9049@yahoo.com. Tex is located in Prince William County, VA Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about an adoption.
