Story
Introducing Wilma!   Wilma is a 4-year-old sweetheart who has really started coming out of her shell since arriving with us What started as a nervous, shut down girl has turned into a clingy little love bug who just wants to be close to her people.   If you leave the room for 15 minutes and come back? Prepare yourself Wilma will greet you like you’ve been gone for years and absolutely insists on giving hugs when she sees you again.   She loves having her comfy recliner spot where she can relax and watch the world go by, but she also wants to know where her people are at all times   And while Wilma may have had a bit of a counter surfing phase before… she has officially retired from her life of crime She’s actually become very cautious and gentle about taking treats now.   Wilma would do best in a calm home with older children where she can continue building confidence and soaking up love. She’s the kind of dog that bonds deeply once she trusts you   Interested in meeting Wilma? Fill out an app! ##2700276##

Story
Introducing Emma!   Emma is a goofy, high-energy girl with a BIG personality She loves attention and fully believes she should be the center of it at all times. If another dog is getting pets, Emma will absolutely bulldoze her way into the middle of it   She’s playful, active, and loves to run around, but she is also insecure/skittish at times and will need a family willing to help continue building her confidence. Emma is a jumper too — and not just a little one this girl can jump as high as your head without thinking twice.   She’s also incredibly smart… unfortunately sometimes she uses her powers for chaos Emma has mastered counter surfing and has a very expensive hobby of stealing things off counters to chew up. Her current obsession? Cords Apparently if it plugs in, Emma thinks it’s a snack.   While Emma does okay around other dogs, we personally think she may thrive best as an only dog or where she can soak up all the attention for herself. If there are other dogs in the home, proper introductions will be required.   Emma is looking for a patient home that understands quirky, energetic dogs and is willing to work with her while also laughing at her ridiculous antics along the way shes a ball of energy and needs a job, Her favorite toys are the big roasted cow knee bones. She can figure out a treat puzzle in minutes.    Interested in adopting Emma? Fill out an application! ##2700263##

Story
Meet Felicia   Have you ever seen a brindle poodle before? Yeah… us either Maybe she’s a doodle? Maybe she’s just uniquely fabulous. Either way, Felicia is absolutely adorable and definitely turns heads everywhere she goes   Felicia is the kind of dog that quietly settles herself into your life — and your heart.   Her absolute favorite thing in the world? Being petted and scratched Seriously… this girl will happily sit there forever soaking up love and attention.   She is potty trained, crate trained, walks wonderfully on a leash without pulling, and has a calm, easygoing personality. She currently goes outside on leash for potty breaks and exercise since there isn’t a fenced yard, and she does great with the routine.   Now if there are deer or squirrels nearby? Her instincts definitely kick in, so we would worry about chasing and recommend continued leash walks or a secure fenced area.   Felicia LOVES chew bones and likes carrying them off to quietly settle down with them. In fact, she already has a brand new bone picked out to go with her to her forever home   She only really barks when the other dogs bark — — and while certain noises can still startle her a little, she recovers within seconds and keeps right on going.   She loves treats too, although she’s still learning confidence when taking them directly from your hand.   Felicia also prefers slow introductions with new people. She doesn’t immediately run up to strangers, but instead likes to introduce herself in her own time and comfort zone Once she feels safe, she settles in beautifully.   She has also been around a confident cat and mostly ignored them, although we would be more cautious around cats that may run.   Felicia is very nervous around small children, especially loud voices and fast movement. She was tested around children under 10 and was clearly uncomfortable, so we believe older children or a calmer home environment would be best for her.   Felicia hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet. Honestly, she seems far more interested in cozy routines, peaceful companionship, watching wildlife, and getting endless scratches from her humans   She’s looking for a patient, loving home where she can continue relaxing into being somebody’s cherished girl ##2700277##

Story
Meet Gunner We got another “stray call.” This guy was not thrilled to see us. No wagging tail. No instant trust. Just a scared, unsure dog who made it very clear he didn’t know what was about to happen—and honestly? Fair. Once we got him home, settled in, and realized treats are, in fact, a universal language… the tough guy act faded fast. Underneath it all is a big baby who just needed the world to slow down for a minute. Since then, we’ve learned a lot about his story—and it explains everything. He originally came from a shelter and, at only 11 months old, has already been through three different homes. The most recent “owners” are the ones who turned him in as a stray, so it’s pretty clear he wasn’t wanted anymore. That kind of instability does something to a dog. He can be growly with people he doesn’t know—but not aggressive. He doesn’t try to bite. He’d much rather create space and get away. That’s fear, not malice. Once he knows you? He’s affectionate, goofy, and relaxed. Good with kids Good with other dogs Does have some resource guarding with food around other dogs, so he will need to be fed separately He’s still a puppy. A confused one. A dog who has learned that people disappear—but is quietly hoping this time will be different. He deserves a family who understands that trust is built, not demanded. A home that won’t give up when he needs reassurance instead of pressure. A chance to finally stay. And honestly… after everything he’s been through? Who could blame him for being cautious. If you’re patient, kind, and willing to help him learn that not everyone leaves—this boy will give you his whole heart. Located in mauston Wisconsin Adoption info coming soon Please share. His story doesn’t need another chapter about being returned.   behavior note: His behaviors are consistent with a young dog who has experienced repeated instability—not a “problem dog.” The growling is distance-increasing communication, not intent to bite. He responds well to structure, routine, and positive reinforcement. His resource guarding is specific and manageable (feeding separately from other dogs), and we have already seen improvement with consistency. With a patient home and continued confidence-building, he has strong potential to thrive. ##2655778##
