Story
Maggie-Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix(mix is known)-female-spayed-8 months-80 pounds. Meet Maggie! Maggie is a big, beautiful Livestock Guardian Dog who is looking for a home that understands her genetic instincts and needs. She came to CCHS because she didn’t get along with the Border Collie in her previous home, but she has met another dog here and was interested in playing. Like many LGDs, Maggie may be a dog who is friendly off-territory but prefers not to share her home turf with other dogs. LGDs are bred to protect their space and livestock from predators, and as they mature, many become less tolerant of unfamiliar dogs in their territory. To our knowledge, Maggie has not been bonded with livestock before. Maggie is housetrained, crate trained, enjoys toys, and knows a few basic commands. Maggie is a smart dog who will thrive in the right household. Apply to adopt at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

Story
Ollie-male-neutered-3 1/2 years-63 pounds. Ollie arrived at CCHS in tough shape — missing fur, red and inflamed skin, and clearly uncomfortable. After testing, we discovered he had three different types of bacteria in his skin and needed immediate care. With weeks of medicated baths and antibiotics, Ollie slowly healed, his coat began to grow back, and his bright spirit came shining through. Today, Ollie is healthy, handsome, and ready for a home. Ollie is a social, affectionate dog who loves attention and absolutely adores playing fetch with a tennis ball. Once he has that ball, he’ll toss it in the air, catch it, and happily entertain himself. When he wags his little nub tail, his whole backside wiggles with joy. He’s smart, eager to please, and loves being part of the action. If you’re looking for a bright, joyful companion with a heart full of wiggles, Ollie would love to meet you. Story
Polaris is a young girl who was found dumped on the side of the road with a bag of dog food dumped on the ground as her only help for survival. A good samaritan picked her up and contacted me. Help Polaris never face that kind of treatment again by giving her a forever home. She is very sweet and friendly and great with other dogs and people and kids. She definitely has a prey drive though, which is not at all unusual for dogs, so no kitties or small animals. She walks well on the leash and does well in a crate. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: spayed, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
Ace is a young hound mix under a year old with a calm, thoughtful personality and just the right balance of adventure and downtime. He enjoys exploring the woods, sniffing around trails, and hanging out near the water, but he is not nonstop hyper or chaotic. After some fun and activity, he settles down nicely. Ace is great with other dogs and with cats. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once he feels safe, he becomes incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loyal. He is the kind of dog who forms real bonds instead of instantly demanding attention from everyone he meets. He would do great with someone who wants an active companion for walks, exploring, road trips, or outdoor time, while still wanting a dog that can relax and coexist peacefully at home afterward. Currently in Oklahoma but can be adopted to approved out-of-state homes via transport. If an adoption does not work out (rare, but life happens), I always take my dogs back. Fully vetted (neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested). Adoption fee: $450 (includes transport and vetting). Apply here: https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 Transport available to: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95.

Story
Bubbie is the kind of dog that bonds deeply with his person. Not in a chaotic or demanding way—he just genuinely wants to be near the people he loves and be part of their life. Bubbie is a young white shepherd mix with the tall frame of a German Shepherd but a much leaner, lighter build. He’s athletic, affectionate, and very emotionally connected to his humans. He was previously adopted and returned because he became very attached to his adopter. For the right person, though, that’s not a flaw—it’s exactly what makes him special. He’s the kind of dog who forms real relationships. Bubbie is also great with other dogs and with cats, making him an easy fit for many multi-pet households. He enjoys companionship and settles in well around other animals. What stands out most about him is his heart. He’s sensitive, loyal, and happiest when he feels connected to his people. Good fit: someone wanting a deeply loyal companion and who appreciates a dog that forms strong emotional bonds. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $500 (includes transport + vetting) Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Zoey has been through a lot, but you would never know it from her sweet personality. When Zoey's owner was admitted to the ICU and never came home, she was left behind along with several other dogs. Through no fault of her own, her entire world changed overnight. By the time she arrived here, her coat was so severely matted that she had to be shaved down completely. Through the entire grooming process, Zoey never fussed, never complained, and patiently allowed me to help her feel comfortable again. That gentle, trusting nature perfectly sums up who she is. At around 3 years old, Zoey is a sweet Shih Tzu mix who gets along well with other dogs and cats. She has an easygoing personality and seems happy just being part of a family. Her coat may be short right now, but it will grow back. Underneath all those mats was an absolutely adorable little dog who is now ready for a fresh start. Zoey is the kind of dog who doesn't ask for much. She just wants a safe home, kind people, and a chance to be loved again. Good fit: someone looking for a sweet, low-maintenance companion who gets along with other pets and appreciates the simple things in life. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (neutered/spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $550 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ.
