Story
Animal Profile: Hunter is an estimated 2-year-old 117 lb recently neutered male Great Dane who was found as a stray in San Bernardino wandering in tact and with a cherry eye. He was urgent at the crowded shelter where he was a volunteer favorite due to his goofy friendly nature with people and dogs. We will share more as we get to know him in foster care. Foster Update: Hunter is a sweet, goofy, loveable boy with an easy-going disposition. He's yet to meet a human or dog he doesn't love. He's also met some cats he loves, but he doesn't understand why they don't like playing with him. Typical to the breed, as a young Great Dane, he is completely unaware of his size and rather uncoordinated. For this reason only, he would do best in a home with older children and preferably some giant breed experience. He loves his cuddles and becomes very attached to his people. He is a classic velcro dog that sticks close to your side wherever you may go. He does very well in a crate or kennel and has been great when left for longer stretches of time while at work. He is extremely food motivated and very smart so he will be easy to train with positive reinforcement. The downside to his food obsession is that he will continue to need work with counter-surfing. We are actively working on this and making improvements. As a teenage Dane, he divides his time equally between erratic zoomies and long naps. He does a wonderful impression of Tigger jumping from couch cushion to couch cushion. A few highlights of his accomplishments and personality: Knows Sit and is working on Down Rings the bell to go outside for a potty break Doing well learning leash manners Enjoys a longer lead but could learn a heeled walk with more training Crate trained and house trained Likes to play fetch Can amuse himself with toys in his quiet area Loves other animals and is non-reactive He is slow to pick-up on cues from his fellow canines when they are asking for space so he needs help setting those boundaries and re-directing Observes and learns quickly, including handy tricks like how to lift the toilet seat, get over a gate, or open a door with a handle Hunter is all-around a truly wonderful young boy. His goofy traits and sporadic bursts of energy are typical of a young Dane for those familiar with the breed. He has the best disposition and doesn't let anything get him down. Due to his previous stray lifestyle, he is used to taking initiative to get his needs met and it will take some time for him to learn that he no longer has to do that. Setting boundaries and consistently reinforcing them will be the key to his success, but he's such a smart boy I have no doubt he will learn everything quickly and be an amazing addition to anyone who adopts him. Adopter Profile: Large breed experience required Giant breed experience preferred Other dogs / cats / older kids OK Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which include neuter, cherry eye surgery, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, health check with veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Hunter was a stray intake in San Bernardino and rescued from San Bernardino city shelter, arriving to Seattle area foster care on April 7. He will be neutered and have cherry eye repaired on May 6, and then be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.  May 8, 2024, 4:31 am

Story
Meet MARK IKEGAMI Mark is a sweet guy, who loves to run and play. He's very treat and affection motivated and wants nothing more than to please his people who help make him feel secure. He can make friends quickly with people but he can be a tad timid in new situations so it's important to give him a few minutes- then he will (literally) be eating right from your hand. Mark is very dog-social and great with dogs of all ages and sizes and has lots of friends. He is equally as happy after he's done playing, to lie next to you and be the good boy that he is! Mark has mastered basic training with us and knows how to walk well on a leash, sit, down and is ready to learn more with your guidance! He enjoys walks and he is crate trained and housebroken, which would both be beneficial for him to continue in his new home, especially to help him settle in and relax. We feel his best home would be one with a person experienced with building confidence in large dogs who has a confident mentor dog for Mark to look up to and learn from. Due to Mark's shy nature, we believe he would do best in a family with older children. He does truly enjoy being with other dogs and it'd be great for him to have that going forward. NAME: Mark Ikegami LITTER: He is part of our "Real Genius" litter. AGE/GENDER: Young (born 9/9/2022), male BREED: Based on the DNA, Mark is a Great Dane, shepherd, lab, husky mix TEMPERAMENT: Playful and mischievous CATS: Good! Continued socialization will be important! CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 12 and older ADOPTION DONATION: $600.00 HEALTH: Mark is healthy! He is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Each dog also receives a "Tour Gear Bag" full of brochures, coupons, and supplies for your new pup! Please visit our website www.motleyzoorescue.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.

Domino is a great dane that is mostly lazy low key dog except when food is around. She is house trained, good on a leash and good with commands. Sadly we are looking to rehome her because the new baby hasn't been a welcomed by the dog.

Story
We adopted Pepper December of 2021 from a lady who had a litter and Pepper was the last pup to go. She is almost 3 years old. She loves attention and needs to be able to run around and get her energy out. She is a very sweet girl, loves to be around people, and sleeps a lot. She does get the zoomies and very excited when we come home and especially when she’s about to eat her meals. Pepper’s new home needs to be very loving, her parents need to be present so she doesn’t get lonely, and she does need to be able to get her energy out either with a walk or running around in a backyard or field. Pepper is great with kiddos and is very gentle with them.

Story
Myrtle is ready to find her forever home! This sweet girl is a social butterfly who adores everyone she meets—big or small, furry or not, she welcomes them with open paws!  Myrtle is a curious explorer who enjoys shadowing her humans around the house, always eager to see what they're up to. She has a special fondness for the 9-year-old in the family, as she's known to suddenly break into a playful run, which never fails to delight Myrtle! One of Myrtle's favorite pastimes is lounging on the floor surrounded by her collection of toys so that whenever she moves her head she has a new option to play with – such a funny girl!  Myrtle gets along fabulously with her canine foster brother, enjoying playtime and taking cues from him like a champ. She would do great in a home with another dog, or would also be fine as a solo pup with regular playdates. Myrtle is making excellent progress with her training and is learning house manners, basic cues, and doing well with house and crate training. With her eager-to-please attitude and love for companionship, Myrtle is sure to be a delightful addition to a loving home! We estimate Myrtle was born around August of 2023, so she’s still a pup, and a DNA test on her brother (Cletus) showed she’s a Great Dane/Lab mix. As of March, Myrtle weighed in at 31 pounds, but she’s still catching up on growing after initially coming into rescue very underweight. She’s super tall with very long legs, so we expect her to grow up to be a good size girl! If you're looking for a sweet, social, and playful companion, Myrtle could be the one for you!  Myrtle’s adoption fee is $550 and she is spayed, up to date with vaccinations, and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Myrtle, please fill out an application from our website https://www.forgottendogsrescue.com/adoption-application. Per our rescue policy, unless specifically noted in a dog's bio, we will not consider adoption applications from families with children under 5 years old. See more photos of Myrtle (and her brother Cletus) on their Facebook album! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.823200423182980&type=3 ##1982923##
