Story
Bodie (also known as Brownie) is a 1-year-old Boxer/Pittie mix with a zest for life and a heart full of love! Weighing around 40 pounds, this energetic pup is always ready for action and still has plenty of playful puppy energy to burn. He absolutely loves running around in the yard, playing with his toys, and making new canine friends. Bodie thrives in the company of other dogs and has become quite the social butterfly at Hounds Town, never failing to get the whole room moving with his infectious enthusiasm. Because of his high-energy nature, Bodie would do best in a home with kids 10 and older who can keep up with his playful spirit. A home without cats is preferred. If you're looking for a fun-loving, active companion who will bring excitement and joy into your life, Bodie is the perfect pup for you! Apply today to meet this lovable goofball!   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Story
Meet Charlie: The Family Dog You Didn’t Know You Needed (But Totally Do) Okay, here's the tea—Charlie is a two-year-old Boxer/Hound mix who ended up in need of a new home thanks to a tale as old as time: baby enters stage left, dog exits stage right. Yeah, it’s that classic “we had a baby and now we can’t keep up with the dog” situation. Their loss? 100% your gain. Charlie is a lovable goofball with a heart of gold and energy for days. She’s playful, spunky, and thrives in a home where zoomies are encouraged and tug-of-war is a sport. She’d do best with active humans or other dogs who can keep up with her enthusiasm for life. She's not aggressive at all—just sometimes forgets she's not a lapdog and may bump into tiny humans when she's excited. (Who among us hasn’t bulldozed a coffee table in our joy?) The good news? She’s spayed, fully vetted, up to date on all shots, microchipped, good with cats, and ready to be your new best friend. Basically, the hard work’s been done—she’s ready to move in and start living her best life. Looking for a playmate for your current pup? A hiking buddy? A dog who brings joy, laughs, and probably a little bit of chaos (the fun kind)? Charlie’s your girl. If you want to meet this amazing pup contact Teri at 630-897-7454 Adoption fee: $275. Charlie’s looking for a fresh start—maybe with you. She’s got the love, the training, and the wiggly butt. All that’s missing is her forever family. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Are you looking for your ride or die? Look no further. Rider is here to apply for the position. He is a 2.5 year old Boxer mix that weighs in just shy of 70 pounds. Rider has been looking for his forever home for awhile. He was found as a stray October of 2023 in Southern Indiana. He eventually made his way up to Rover Rescue. He has gone through 2 knee surgeries which has delayed finding his finding his forever home. He is ready to settle down. We have him on a joint supplement to help with arthritis from his surgeries. He is also on a single protein diet and probiotics due to a sensitive stomach. He has been doing well with these though. Rider does need an adult only home. He also needs a dog savvy owner. He likes to see what he can get away with and needs someone to continue working on his manners. He has come a long way in his time with Rover Rescue. Rider loves car rides. He thinks there is nothing better than sticking his head out the window and feeling the wind in his face. We do seatbelt him in for his safety. Rider also loves walks. After his knee surgeries we are building up his endurance. He does tend to get excited and pull, but minds the gentle leader. Rider is living with 2 smaller dogs. He loves to romp and play with his foster brother. He respects his crabby older sister. He does need slow introductions. He can sometimes get fussy with new friends at events. We think it may be a little leash reactivity. He may do best with a submissive female. We have noticed some prey drive with Rider and would recommend a home without cats no cats or small animals. Rider is crated while his family is away and at night. He will go in willingly for treats. Sometimes he may sing a little song when his family first leaves, but will settle down. Treat toys sometimes help too. Rider is fully house trained and has not had any accidents. Rider is overall a pretty laid back guy. At night he loves nothing more than snuggling on the couch with his people. Rider may seem a little rough around the edges at first but will be a loyal companion with some work. He wants to please his people. Please give this guy a chance. If you would like to meet him, please call Annie at 815-685-0746. His adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Dog’s Name: Sawyer Location: Chicago, Il Age or Date of Birth: 11/18/2024 Gender: Male Breed: Pitbull Labrador Mix Color: Tan Dog's Weight: 45 lbs Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?: Unknown Kids?: All kids Training: Leash trained:  In progress Crate/Kennel:   In progress Potty trained:   Yes Car: Rides well in car Meet Sawyer – Your New Best Buddy! Say hello to Sawyer, a true bundle of joy and Mr. Personality! This happy-go-lucky young pup has never met a stranger—whether human or canine, he didn't like.  Sawyer is ready with a tail wag and a heart full of love. He’s playful, affectionate, and always down for a good snuggle after some fun! Don’t let his young age fool you—Sawyer is impressively well-behaved indoors. He’s respectful, friendly, and full of charm. He does get a little bouncy when excited to see you (can you blame him?), but he's already working hard on his manners. Sawyer loves playing with other dogs and thrives on the energy of a good romp. He can get a bit rowdy in the best of ways, but he listens when other pups ask him to tone it down. A playful doggy sibling would be a dream for him, but it’s not a requirement—he just wants love and attention, whether it comes from a pup or a person! Sawyer had a brief encounter with cats in a previous foster home. While he seemed curious and eager to play, he showed no signs of aggression. With proper introductions, he could likely coexist with a dog-savvy cat. Sawyer is still brushing up on his basic commands, but he’s eager to learn and please. A little consistency and positive reinforcement will go a long way with this bright boy. Medical Note:Sawyer is scheduled to see an animal eye specialist on 7/30 to evaluate a condition called entropion. Sawyer would thrive in just about any loving home. Whether it’s a family with another playful pup or a human who can give him lots of attention and playtime, Sawyer’s heart is wide open. He’s ready to be your loyal companion and best friend.
