Story
Meet Clover! She's a 1.5yo female Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog mix looking for her perfect home. She's up to date on all shots, spayed, and has gone through boarding training. She's highly intelligent and knows her basic commands. She'll learn anything that you want/need to teach her faster than you'll ever imagine. We adopted Clover as a puppy with every intention of being her forever family. However, due to chronic illness limitations and other medical issues we simply can't give Clover what she needs anymore. She needs a family that will be able to keep up with her high energy and mental stimulation needs better than we can. Clover would do best in a house without cats. Her herding instincts are very strong and cats understandably don't like that. She would thrive with another dog in the house. She does well with older children but would need easing into being around younger kids. For whatever reason she just doesn't trust them. I am happy to answer any questions you have!

Story
Oreo is a 3-year-old male Border Collie/Jindo mix who was rescued from a shelter just before he was scheduled for euthanasia. Sadly, and for unknown reasons, before finding himself abandoned and alone at the shelter, his teeth had been deliberately ground down. Amazingly and despite this, he remains a lively, energetic, and otherwise healthy dog who is remarkably intelligent, craves human interaction, and is very loyal to his guardian. Oreo has the exceptional intelligence typical of Border Collies, fully understanding various commands such as "sit," "wait," and "house." He is also deeply loyal to his guardian and has a strong capacity for forming deep bonds typical of the Jindo breed. He is truly a remarkable dog who has the capacity to grow into an even more amazing companion through continued obedience training and by establishing a trusting relationship with his guardian. Oreo is incredibly affectionate and loves people. He is also very social and gets along well with other dogs. However, he has a habit of jumping when excited, which requires caution when a person is interacting with him in a low position. With consistent training, this behavior can be corrected. Being highly energetic, Oreo possesses excellent jumping ability. At the training center, he has been known to leap over fences—not out of a desire to escape, but due to his curiosity and strong attachment to his guardian. In fact, he has demonstrated behavior where he jumps over a fence when he hears his guardian's voice outside, only to return shortly after. For this reason, families with yards should ensure proper supervision, and a high-fenced environment may be more suitable. The Ideal Family for Oreo is: ✔️ Someone who understands the high intelligence and energy levels of Border Collies, the exceptional loyalty of Jindos, and can provide sufficient mental and physical stimulation ✔️ Someone with experience in training or handling large dogs ✔️ Someone who values bonding with their dog and is ready to build a deep connection ✔️ Someone who can provide ample space for Oreo to move and exercise freely Despite his heartbreaking past, Oreo still loves people and finds his greatest happiness in being with his guardian. With so much intelligence and energy, he has limitless potential to become the perfect lifelong companion if he meets the right family, one that understands him and is ready to provide him with love, care, and proper training. Oreo is waiting for his new family! ❤️

Story
Hi, I’m Annie Mae! I’m a total rockstar — a social butterfly with higher energy who would happily run all day if you let me. I’m crazy smart and could easily be trained for agility, sports, or even service work. I’m potty trained, leash trained, dog friendly, and great with kids. I LOVE balls and playtime, and I thrive when I have a job or activity to keep my mind busy. If you want an energetic, intelligent, and playful companion who will keep you on your toes, I’m the one! Before coming here, I had quite the journey. I arrived with eight puppies and was severely malnourished, having clearly put everything she had into caring for her babies. The man who brought me in handled me roughly, but despite that, I have remained incredibly sweet, affectionate, and trusting. My resilience and loving nature really shine through, and I’m ready for a future where I get to be cared for just as much as I care for others. I am currently located in Texas but am available for adoption in multiple states across the country. My out of state adoption fee is $750. This fee helps cover the cost of care while I was at the shelter AND the cost of transporting me home! This includes: spay/neuter, if unaltered upon intake. age-appropriate vaccinations during time in care. a registered microchip if unchipped upon intake. a heartworm test if over six months of age. current flea/tick prevention during time in care. 3(+) broad spectrum deworming treatment. any medical expenses while in care. a health certificate for travel. the cost of travel (drivers, gas, and vehicle maintenance if via our route, or up to $200 in crate rental fees if on another transporter’s route!) Every adoption through the SPCA of Brazoria County also come with a PetSmart adoption kit, and some coupons for PetCo! Our first meeting/interview for adoption occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Apply to adopt me at https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/BRAZ/27759-long-distance-adopt-app. If you have questions, please email jami@spcabc.org.

Story
Animal Information:  Meet Brownie! She is a 2 year old, 29 lb female Border Collie mix (best guess) who joined us from California, along with her 3 12-week-old puppies on 06/11/2026. When our rescue partner reached out to us about the puppies, we couldn't leave mom behind.  Foster Profile: Brownie is a special gem of a girl, looking for that special gem of a family. Brownie is an incredible pup! She has stolen our hearts-- she's smart, wants to please and is great with our resident dogs. She is Such a love bug! She's potty trained and crate trained though we are working on her "feelings" about being crated and she's coming along-- no apartments considered for this reason. She couldn't be more affectionate-- regularly sitting to ask for pets and climbing into our laps to be a little lap dog. She does need to build her confidence as she is still a little skittish on walks (we can tie you pointers/advice on how to be her best  leader ).Shes a terrific jogging companion and is looking for an active family . Anyone who adopts sweet Brownie is seriously lucky! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter (on contract, if applicable), core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Story
Animal Information:  Meet Cobbler! He and his 3 siblings are 12 weeks old Border Collie mixes (best guess) and will be joining us from California along with their mom Brownie on 06/11/2026. Foster Profile:  Cobbler is a 3-month-old Border Collie mix with a gentle heart. While he may be a little shy when meeting new people, it doesn't take long for his sweet nature to shine through. He's looking for a patient family who can help him build confidence and continue discovering that the world isn't such a scary place. When Cobbler feels nervous, he'll often seek comfort by tucking himself between your legs or finding a cozy corner where he feels safe. With a little encouragement, he warms up and shows just how lovable he is. For such a young puppy, Cobbler is incredibly smart and learns quickly. He’s already doing well on leash and happily walks by your side. He has a great recall for his age and enjoys playing chase with respectful children. As a typical growing pup, he’s currently teething and picks up anything he finds. Cobbler loves spending time outdoors, especially relaxing in a shady spot on warm days. He's currently working on house training and learning basic commands. He's making great progress and is eager to keep learning! Cobbler would thrive with someone who understands that confidence grows with patience and positive experiences. If you're looking for a sweet, clever companion and are excited to help a young puppy blossom, Cobbler might just be your perfect match. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter (on contract, if applicable), core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian.
