FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Sundance! Sundance is a stunning 1.5-year-old, 45 lb Border Collie who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. Sundance is highly intelligent, people-oriented, and eager to please his handler. He already knows commands such as sit, down, and shake, and he is extremely trainable and motivated to learn more! He does well with other dogs and would benefit from living with another playful canine companion, ideally a female, to help keep him well-socialized. Sundance will require continued training and savvy handling, but in the right environment, he is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and bonded with his people! Sundance is not a city dog. He will do best in a suburban or rural setting with a fully fenced yard (no apartments, condos, or busy urban environments). He is seeking a structured, predictable home with a solid routine as well as an adult-only home, with no children and no cats. This beautiful boy would thrive with an active adopter who enjoys adventures, training, and truly partnering with their dog. In return, Sundance offers loyalty, intelligence, affection, and the kind of connection that makes herding dogs so special! If you have experience with herding breeds and are looking for a driven, loving companion who wants to work alongside you, Sundance may be your perfect match! Sundance is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Say hello to Bosco! He is a ~4 yo, 60lb, Border Collie/Akita mix. (Our best guess to his breeds, but he could have other breeds as well!) Bosco came to us from CA, in search of his forever family. While we are still getting to know Bosco, so far, he has been is a loving and sweet boy. He has been friendly to all people he meets, and enjoys affection! He is smart and loves treats, which makes training fun and engaging. Overall, he is a happy boy that will enjoy a family that is active with him, spoils him with love, and can continue basic training to help him grow into the best dog he can be! Bosco is active and loves going for walks and being outdoors, he would make a great adventure companion! We are still getting to know Bosco’s behavior with other dogs. He has done well with some dogs (usually calmer females), but some high energy/dominant males can make him a little nervous. He will do great in a home that can continue to help him decompress, as the kennel environment can greatly affect stress and how dogs interact with other dogs. Bosco can be an escape artist, and should have a secure yard in his forever home, and while getting to know him, should not be left outdoors alone. He just wants to be with his people! Who can blame him? Bosco is UTD on shots, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Requires: -Herding breed experienced home -Large fenced yard outside the city -Another playful dog in the home her size or larger Keira is a 2 year old, 50lb Border Collie who is looking for her perfect home. She takes a while to trust, but is loyal to her people once she does. Keira is fearful of people and does not easily trust. She can be skittish and is a flight risk if not contained properly. She will build trust with her people after a period of time spent together and trust building, but she is not a ‘people’ dog with new people. She is definitely a dog's dog. She prefers to be with her dog friends and spends her days out in a play yard with 5-7 other dogs. Keira will need a home that understands and is ok with the fact she is not a super lovey dog that will want human attention all the time. Keira will do best in an adult only home that is patient in building her trust and ok with her being aloof and doing her own thing at times. She is well mannered and does great hanging out in a fenced yard with her dog friends. She is super active and loves to run around in her current large play yard with other dogs. Keira will thrive in a home with a large fenced yard outside of the city. She is not an apartment/condo/townhome dog. Keira requires at least one other dog around her size in the home, and herding breed experience. She would thrive in a more rural setting with a large fenced yard. Keira is UTD on shots, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Chad! Chad is a 5-year-old, 50 lb Australian Cattle Dog/Aussie mix (with a little Border Collie and German Shepherd in there too!) who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. This handsome, fluffy boy is full of personality, has been a volunteer and staff favorite since being in our care, and is ready to find his perfect match! Chad is sweet, loving, and an absolute character. He’s goofy, silly, and full of life ~ always ready to make you smile. He loves belly rubs, will happily flop over for attention, and is a total “leaner” who enjoys being close to his people. As a working breed mix, Chad is smart, driven, and always thinking. He thrives when he has a job to do and will need a home that understands how to keep both his mind and body engaged. He loves to learn and would do great with continued training, enrichment, and an active lifestyle filled with adventures like hiking, running, and exploring. Chad came from a more rural environment and would do best in a home outside of the city, where things are less overwhelming and more in line with what he’s used to. He can become overstimulated in busy environments, which can lead to some reactivity, but he has already made great progress with structure and consistency. He can do well with other dogs but would likely do best with a female dog companion or as an only dog with continued socialization. Because of his energy and sensitivity to overstimulation, he is not a fit for homes with cats or young children. Chad will thrive with an experienced adopter who understands working or herding breeds and is committed to providing structure, leadership, and outlets for his energy and intelligence. Chad would love to find a family or person who will embrace his goofy personality, work with his brilliant mind, and give him the active, fulfilling life he craves. If you’re experienced, active, and ready for a loyal, fun-loving companion, Chad might just be your guy! Chad is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $450.

Story
LONG-TERM FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED ❤️ RJ is a 6½-year-old mixed breed with a heart as big as his paws. With a unique blend of American Pit Bull Terrier, Australian Cattle Dog, Labrador Retriever, Boxer, and German Shepherd, RJ is a handsome, athletic, and intelligent companion who’s ready to find a home that truly understands him. Originally rescued from a Texas shelter at around 1½ years old, RJ made his way to Washington and spent six months with Forever Home Dog Rescue before being adopted in October 2021. His early life is a mystery, but it’s likely he spent time on the streets as a puppy. Despite his rough start, RJ has grown into a sweet, fiercely loyal dog who bonds deeply with his people. What RJ Loves: Exercise & Adventure: RJ thrives with daily activity—he’s a fantastic running and hiking partner and enjoys fetch and chase (though he might not always bring the ball back!). He has been on many backpacking trips and loves being outside. He does well on long walks with familiar people and dogs. Toys & Playtime: Balls, chew toys, and stuffed animals are his favorites, but he’s a toy destroyer if left unsupervised. Training & Mental Stimulation: Smart and eager to please, RJ enjoys learning commands and being rewarded for good behavior. Lounging & Comfort: After a good play session, RJ loves curling up on a cozy dog bed or couch and catching some serious Zzz’s. Affection: He’ll greet you with tail wags and kisses (he’s a big licker!) before settling down with a toy nearby. What RJ Needs: RJ is a special dog who needs a home that can meet his unique needs and provide structure, patience, and love. Home Environment: While he’s lived in an apartment, RJ does best in a house with space to roam and a fenced yard. No Dog Parks: RJ is not a dog park dog and has shown aggression toward male dogs, sometimes unpredictably. He prefers being the alpha and does best with female dogs his size or larger. No Cats or Small Animals: He has a strong prey drive and should not be placed in a home with cats or other small pets. No Young Children: RJ has growled at children who tried to pet him on walks and hasn’t lived with kids, so a child-free home is best. Supervised Toy Time with Other Dogs: Due to resource guarding (mostly over toys and chews), RJ should be in a home where toys aren’t left out and where there are no other resource guarders. Secure Fencing & Leash Use: RJ doesn’t have reliable recall and should never be off-leash unless in a secure area. He’s athletic and could potentially scale a low fence if tempted by a squirrel. Companionship: RJ has strong separation anxiety and does best with another dog in the home—ideally a calm, confident female- and/or a home with owners who work from home and are present regularly. He loves to be a member of the "pack". Car Rides & Crating: RJ is a great passenger and enjoys car rides! He is crate trained and is used to being put in his crate at night. The Ideal Home for RJ: RJ is looking for a committed, experienced dog owner who understands behavioral needs and is ready to give him the structure and love he deserves. He’s not a beginner dog, but for the right person or family, he’ll be an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion. If you’re active, patient, and ready to welcome a dog who will love you fiercely and keep you on your toes, RJ might just be your perfect match.
