Story
Hi, I’m Annie Mae! I’m a total rockstar — a social butterfly with higher energy who would happily run all day if you let me. I’m crazy smart and could easily be trained for agility, sports, or even service work. I’m potty trained, leash trained, dog friendly, and great with kids. I LOVE balls and playtime, and I thrive when I have a job or activity to keep my mind busy. If you want an energetic, intelligent, and playful companion who will keep you on your toes, I’m the one! Before coming here, I had quite the journey. I arrived with eight puppies and was severely malnourished, having clearly put everything she had into caring for her babies. The man who brought me in handled me roughly, but despite that, I have remained incredibly sweet, affectionate, and trusting. My resilience and loving nature really shine through, and I’m ready for a future where I get to be cared for just as much as I care for others. I am currently located in Texas but am available for adoption in multiple states across the country. My out of state adoption fee is $750. This fee helps cover the cost of care while I was at the shelter AND the cost of transporting me home! This includes: spay/neuter, if unaltered upon intake. age-appropriate vaccinations during time in care. a registered microchip if unchipped upon intake. a heartworm test if over six months of age. current flea/tick prevention during time in care. 3(+) broad spectrum deworming treatment. any medical expenses while in care. a health certificate for travel. the cost of travel (drivers, gas, and vehicle maintenance if via our route, or up to $200 in crate rental fees if on another transporter’s route!) Every adoption through the SPCA of Brazoria County also come with a PetSmart adoption kit, and some coupons for PetCo! Our first meeting/interview for adoption occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Apply to adopt me at https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/BRAZ/27759-long-distance-adopt-app. If you have questions, please email jami@spcabc.org.

Story
Oreo is a 3-year-old male Border Collie/Jindo mix who was rescued from a shelter just before he was scheduled for euthanasia. Sadly, and for unknown reasons, before finding himself abandoned and alone at the shelter, his teeth had been deliberately ground down. Amazingly and despite this, he remains a lively, energetic, and otherwise healthy dog who is remarkably intelligent, craves human interaction, and is very loyal to his guardian. Oreo has the exceptional intelligence typical of Border Collies, fully understanding various commands such as "sit," "wait," and "house." He is also deeply loyal to his guardian and has a strong capacity for forming deep bonds typical of the Jindo breed. He is truly a remarkable dog who has the capacity to grow into an even more amazing companion through continued obedience training and by establishing a trusting relationship with his guardian. Oreo is incredibly affectionate and loves people. He is also very social and gets along well with other dogs. However, he has a habit of jumping when excited, which requires caution when a person is interacting with him in a low position. With consistent training, this behavior can be corrected. Being highly energetic, Oreo possesses excellent jumping ability. At the training center, he has been known to leap over fences—not out of a desire to escape, but due to his curiosity and strong attachment to his guardian. In fact, he has demonstrated behavior where he jumps over a fence when he hears his guardian's voice outside, only to return shortly after. For this reason, families with yards should ensure proper supervision, and a high-fenced environment may be more suitable. The Ideal Family for Oreo is: ✔️ Someone who understands the high intelligence and energy levels of Border Collies, the exceptional loyalty of Jindos, and can provide sufficient mental and physical stimulation ✔️ Someone with experience in training or handling large dogs ✔️ Someone who values bonding with their dog and is ready to build a deep connection ✔️ Someone who can provide ample space for Oreo to move and exercise freely Despite his heartbreaking past, Oreo still loves people and finds his greatest happiness in being with his guardian. With so much intelligence and energy, he has limitless potential to become the perfect lifelong companion if he meets the right family, one that understands him and is ready to provide him with love, care, and proper training. Oreo is waiting for his new family! ❤️

Story
There’s no mistaking Dream when she enters a room—she’s the spark plug that flips the switch on any gathering, turning a quiet space into a full-on fiesta. Born around Valentine’s Day, this little Border Collie mix doesn’t just bring energy; she *is* energy, with a contagious enthusiasm that’s impossible to ignore. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who doubles as your personal hype squad, Dream’s your girl. Living with Dream means your days will be anything but dull. She’s confident and outgoing, the kind of pup who waltzes up to new friends like she’s known them forever. Playtime isn’t just an activity—it’s a full-contact sport with plenty of silliness and tail-wagging antics. Whether she’s chasing a ball, nudging for belly rubs, or simply soaking up attention, Dream’s joy is utterly infectious. She’s got a big personality wrapped in a medium-sized package, and she’s happiest when she’s the star of the show. Underneath all that pizazz, Dream is a quick learner with a respectful streak, especially for her age. She’s working on her potty training and already showing signs of being well-mannered, a promising sign for future adventures together. Her people skills are top-notch—she adores human company and gets along well with other dogs. Cats, too, are safe in her orbit, which is a nice bonus for a pup with so much zest. If you’re ready to add a joyful whirlwind to your life, Dream might just be the companion who keeps you smiling through every day. She’s not just a dog; she’s a celebration waiting to happen. To meet Dream and start your own party, visit workingdogsnw.org and see how to bring this lively spirit home. Every adoption makes room for another dog in need, so your choice to open your heart to Dream makes a difference beyond just your own household.

Story
Montana is an affectionate 4-year-old Lab/Pit mix who’s ready to be your loyal companion for life. This sweet girl is a fetch fanatic who lives for playtime and loves nothing more than chasing balls with her favorite humans. She’s both treat and toy motivated and ready to learn new tricks. Montana gets along fine with other dogs, but she’s truly a people-focused pup who wants to be your number-one play partner. On a recent Doggie Day Out adventure, she proved to be a calm car passenger and a wonderful trail companion. She enjoys sniffy walks and likes to lead the way without pulling on the leash. Though Montana can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly with patience (and a few tasty treats). Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys gentle petting and cuddle time with her friends. If you can toss a tennis ball, you’re already in her inner circle! Montana was placed on final because shelter life has become overwhelming for her. Repeated encounters with unfamiliar people reaching into her kennel have left her feeling uneasy, and she may growl or show her teeth to ask for space. But outside the kennel, Montana’s true personality shines—sweet, playful, and full of love. Montana will thrive in a calm, patient home that gives her time to decompress and build trus ##2599337##

Dog video: https://youtube.com/shorts/Qob9_pTe_jQ Cat in video: https://youtube.com/shorts/VC2qRKqs0p8?feature=share Snuggle time: https://youtu.be/Uo3TkspW3NQ Animal Information: Sunny is a 1–2 year old Border Collie/Shepherd mix weighing about 55 pounds. She is a healthy, happy young dog with a wonderful temperament. Sunny has a nice energy level; she’s active enough to enjoy walks and playtime but not overly hyper. She has very soft fur and an affectionate personality. Sunny loves being close to her people and will happily lay her head on your chest for cuddles, along with plenty of sweet kisses. Sunny is crate trained, house trained, and does well on leash. She is quiet, enjoys being around people, and settles nicely in the home. She may still need a little help learning to give clearer cues when she needs to go outside, but she is already doing very well. She gets along great with other animals and is currently living with three cats and two large dogs in her foster home without any issues.  Foster Profile: Sunny is an absolute gem! She has been a wonderful sweet loving pup  who is slow to warm-- initially shy but fairly quickly becomes friendly which is very typical of her breed mix . She is curious and gentle around people and currently curious about other dogs from a distance. Sunny is Very energetic, typical of her breed and currently goes on two to three hours of walks each day-- she would love an active family who hikes or runs and is also willing to maybe engage her brain with agility or flyable or barn hunt or sheep herding-- tiring her out will include engaging her brain, nit just her muscles. Breed experience is a must. she enjoys playing in the house and is a lovely leaner and paw giver when seeking attention. She does have an off switch, but she's a fast recharge. Sunny does well in her crate and understands it as a safe space. Sunny is not very vocal in terms of barking, but has a brief whimper initially when left at home. She needs time to warm up to you on her own or she may give a low growl to let you know to give her a moment. Sunny is working on her leash manners and will need continued guidance in this area and we are working on it. o far, Sunny rides very well in the car and is calm while occasionally looking out the window. Sunny knows sit and of and give paw, and se also responds well to hand signals. Sunny seeks attention and enjoys snuggling and being close and could use some training on How To Chill. She will need structure and activities, because she is a smart cookie.                                                                                                              Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Story
Ronney is a teddy bear he literally melts into hugs and cuddles. Never barks, very well-mannered and trained. He is extremely intelligent - taught himself how to open doors and picks up tricks fast. Low energy level just loves sitting outside and observing the world or cuddling up on the couch. A home with no kids or older kids would be ideal as he has never lived with kids before. Would be best in a single dog family or with another smaller calm dog. He gets a bit defensive / nipping with bigger or high energy dogs. He is extremely sensitive to loud noise i.e. (car backfiring, fire alarm, etc.) this can make him very anxious. He can get nippy around strangers when nervous. Fine in either apt or home. We adopted him from a shelter almost 9 years ago and have adored him. However, we are expecting our first child and are wary of how he will handle the transition and all the noise. He is the sweetest most well-behaved dog I've ever seen minus his anxiety. Will be 12 in November.
