Story
Meet Nymera! 🐺 Her name, Nymera, means “noble” — a fitting name for such a strong and graceful soul. (It’s pronounced nih-MEER-ee-uh.) This gorgeous girl was found stray near the border of Mexico, and the moment her rescuer opened the car door, she hopped right in as if she knew her new life was about to begin. Nymera is about 1 year old, weighs 30 pounds, and is a Border Collie mix with a heart as big as her smile. She’s affectionate, intelligent, and social — she loves everyone she meets and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She has that classic Border Collie sparkle — alert, eager to please, and full of gentle energy — but what makes her truly special is her sweet, trusting nature after all she’s been through. ✨ Nymera is ready to lead her own happily-ever-after — could it be with you?

Meet Cici! 💛 This beautiful girl has already been through far more than any dog should. When her former owner was seen kicking her, some kind strangers stepped in to save her. They cared for her the best they could, but after being evicted, they reached out for help—and that’s how sweet Cici landed with us. After everything she’s been through, Cici can be a little unsure at first, but she doesn’t have a single mean bone in her body. Once she realizes you’re safe, she melts into the sweetest, most loving companion. She truly blossoms with kindness and gentle reassurance. Cici is about 2 years old, weighs 25 pounds, and looks like a darling border collie/terrier mix. She’s ready for a home where she’ll finally know what it feels like to be cherished. If you’re looking for a gentle soul who just wants to love and be loved, Cici is waiting for you.

Story
Oreo is a 3-year-old male Border Collie/Jindo mix who was rescued from a shelter just before he was scheduled for euthanasia. Sadly, and for unknown reasons, before finding himself abandoned and alone at the shelter, his teeth had been deliberately ground down. Amazingly and despite this, he remains a lively, energetic, and otherwise healthy dog who is remarkably intelligent, craves human interaction, and is very loyal to his guardian. Oreo has the exceptional intelligence typical of Border Collies, fully understanding various commands such as "sit," "wait," and "house." He is also deeply loyal to his guardian and has a strong capacity for forming deep bonds typical of the Jindo breed. He is truly a remarkable dog who has the capacity to grow into an even more amazing companion through continued obedience training and by establishing a trusting relationship with his guardian. Oreo is incredibly affectionate and loves people. He is also very social and gets along well with other dogs. However, he has a habit of jumping when excited, which requires caution when a person is interacting with him in a low position. With consistent training, this behavior can be corrected. Being highly energetic, Oreo possesses excellent jumping ability. At the training center, he has been known to leap over fences—not out of a desire to escape, but due to his curiosity and strong attachment to his guardian. In fact, he has demonstrated behavior where he jumps over a fence when he hears his guardian's voice outside, only to return shortly after. For this reason, families with yards should ensure proper supervision, and a high-fenced environment may be more suitable. The Ideal Family for Oreo is: ✔️ Someone who understands the high intelligence and energy levels of Border Collies, the exceptional loyalty of Jindos, and can provide sufficient mental and physical stimulation ✔️ Someone with experience in training or handling large dogs ✔️ Someone who values bonding with their dog and is ready to build a deep connection ✔️ Someone who can provide ample space for Oreo to move and exercise freely Despite his heartbreaking past, Oreo still loves people and finds his greatest happiness in being with his guardian. With so much intelligence and energy, he has limitless potential to become the perfect lifelong companion if he meets the right family, one that understands him and is ready to provide him with love, care, and proper training. Oreo is waiting for his new family! ❤️

Story
Animal Profile: Buddy is a 4.5-year-old Doodle (1/2 Border Collie 1/2 Standard Poodle). He was purchased from a breeder prior to his owners having children. Buddy is a friendly but slightly anxious guy who has not adjusted well to having a toddler in the home. His family invested in a 4-week board and train with a local dog trainer in hopes that it would help Buddy feel more comfortable around small toddlers. Buddy completed his training; he has excellent house and leash manners, is house trained, crate trained; and knows the ‘place’ command. Unfortunately he was still too uncomfortable around the kids after training, and his family decided it was best to find him a new home. Buddy has been trained using balanced methods, including e collar for off leash reliability. Buddy does great at doggy daycare, but does have some resource guarding around food and select toys when it comes to other dogs. While he enjoys his dog friends, we think he’d be happiest as an only dog. Buddy has not lived with cats. Buddy is currently in foster care with a balanced trainer, and doing well. Foster Update: coming soon! Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $550 which includes his neuter, core vaccinations,  DPPV, Bordetella, microchip, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application  December 9, 2025, 2:28 pm

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Say hello to Laurel! She is a ~1 year-old, 28lb, Border Collie mix who is ready to find her perfect family in the PNW. Laurel came to us from a high kill shelter in CA as a stray. She can be fearful in new situations and will thrive in a home that can provide consistency and help her build confidence and trust. Once she knows you she is very affectionate and loving! Laurel feels much more confident with other dogs around, and would do best in a forever home that has a dog companion for her. She is not tested with cats, and due to her fearfulness at this time, we are looking for a home without children. Laurel would love a home with a fenced yard for her to run and play! She would not do well in a busy city environment at this time. Laurel is spayed, UTD on shots and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $500.

Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED (currently in foster care) Meet Enzo! Enzo is a 5-year-old, 30 lb Border Collie/McNab mix who came to us from an overcrowded CA shelter. He’s incredibly sweet, loving, and as smart as they come! Enzo has been shining in foster care! He is crate trained, house trained, and with some patience and guidance from his wonderful fosters ~ he has learned to love cats! He’s also great with other dogs and loves his people. Enzo is active, playful, and still full of that classic herding dog spunk. Fetch is one of his all-time favorite activities. He knows several commands: sit, down, shake, roll over, and spin and is eager to keep learning! This boy doesn’t just want physical exercise; he needs mental work. Puzzle toys, training sessions, trick work, nose games — he thrives when you give his brain something to do. Because of this, we are specifically looking for an adopter with herding breed experience who understands what dogs like Enzo need to feel fulfilled. He’ll do best in a home prepared to keep his mind and body busy, give him structure, and help channel his intelligence in a positive way. Enzo would love a home with a yard and an active routine — hikes, adventures, outings, and plenty of enrichment. Once his needs are met, he is affectionate, loyal, and a wonderful companion who bonds deeply with his people. If you’re searching for a brilliant, devoted, fun adventure buddy — and you understand herding breeds — Enzo is ready to be your guy! Enzo is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $450.

Story
Kaia Bear is one special lady, searching for her special family! This darling 8-year-old Cattle Dog mix is ready to set off on her new adventure. And she hopes it involves hiking and exploring! Kaia Bear is a big fan of being outside, sniffing all there is to sniff, feeling the sun on her fur, and getting her steps in. Not only does she make an amazing adventure buddy, but Kaia Bear bonds strongly to her people and makes an amazing best friend to keep you company at home. Kaia Bear enjoys sitting in her person's lap, getting pets, and playing fetch with tennis balls. And of course, showing off her cool tricks! Kaia Bear can be selective with other dogs and does better with mellow male dogs. Any introductions to resident pups should be done slowly. She hasn't lived with cats before, but we get the sense she may not do well, so she will likely do best in a home without kitties. Kaia Bear is looking for a quiet, adult only home with a yard (no apartments, please) she can zoom around and sunbathe in. If you think Kaia Bear may be your match, reach out to us today! Kaia Bear's adoption fee is waived in thanks to a generous donor and our Pay it Forward program. **Kaia Bear's adoption process is a little different than our usual process. She will need several meet and greets (both in shelter and at your home) before going home to stay. Please email adoption@homewardpet.org if you're interested in learning more about Kaia Bear!**
