Story
I’m Jackson, a 1-year-old Boxer Mix weighing 55 pounds. Brought to the shelter when my previous family abandoned me at the dog groomer, I’m hoping my next family never leaves me behind again! When I was first brought in, I was very scared withdrawing to my bed for comfort. Since my friends here at the MCSPCA were kind, patient, and gentle I’ve bonded with many of them. My new adopters need to understand that I’m still an anxious and nervous boy so building trust is a must! Because I’m so fearful, I will pull on leash trying to escape from situations I’m not a fan of. Being an athletic and strong boy, make sure you don’t skip arm day as muscles will be necessary to manage me out on walks. You’ll also need to keep an eye on me around all exit points in the case I decide I want to bolt. A warm home that allows me the time and patience to feel safe in my surroundings and with my new family is the way into my heart. If you have a gentle and calm approach, I will slowly come out of my shell and would enjoy engaging and playing with my family in a yard. If you are willing to put in the work showing me that the world isn’t such a scary place, I will be your loyal companion in a heartbeat. The Monmouth County SPCA is open for walk-ins every day, starting at noon!

Story
I’m Briggs, a 5 ½ year old Boxer Mix weighing 53 pounds of good boy material. Surrendered to the shelter when my owners felt I was too anxious around the new baby, I’m looking for a new adult home who has the time to dedicate to me and will finally make me feel part of a family. Dropped off at a shelter, watching my previous family who had me as a puppy walk away, has left me feeling all sorts of confused and nervous. All my familiar sights and smells are a thing of the past, but I’m thankful that the friendly faces at the MCSPCA have been helping me settle in while I wait for my new forever. Decompressing and bonding time will definitely help this loyal lad feel at ease! One smiley boy who was probably not getting enough attention in my past life, I tend to get overly bouncy with puppy mouthing when people show me love. It’s like my body can’t contain all the excitement! If you show me gentle affection, one couch cuddler and tv binging companion I’m ready to be. When you’re done with relaxation time, strap on my leash and let’s get to steppin’! I’m on the hunt for an active adult lifestyle allowing me to explore the outdoors while also getting in proper amount of exercise. Ready to give this boxer boy the second chance he deserves? The Monmouth County SPCA is open for walk-ins every day, starting at noon!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. wagoninn.rescuegroups.org Bennett is a handsome boy who is searching for his forever home. Bennett is with our partner rescue in Louisiana but hoping to come to NJ on our next transport. Bennett is described as calm and affectionate. Bennett's foster says he is a sweet and loving companion.  Bennett is dog friendly but best with female or small dogs and good with older kids. Bennett is housebroken, crate trained and does well on leash. Bennett did well on his cat test. Bennett does best meeting new people and dogs out in neutral territory. If he meets new dogs or people in the house he can be a little barky or protective. When crated, Bennett needs bumpers at the top of his crate so he doesn't get "happy tail." Bennett has been fixed, microchipped and he is up to date on vaccines. Bennett was treated for heartworm. Bennett' s adoption fee is $400. How to Adopt Me! Story
This gorgeous girl is a little shy and will need slow introductions at first and patience. Once she warms up she is very loving and her favorite thing to do is snuggle up close. New situations and places make her nervous so she would do best in a quiet home without much traffic and no small children. I think she would prefer a home body or a mellow couple with dog experience. She is about 2-3 yrs old so she is still very playful and loves running in the fenced in yard. She would do best with a well adjusted calm medium/large k9 friend or would be fine as an only dog too. No cats and no farm animals as she does have a high prey drive. She is about 40 pounds, house trained, up to date on core vaccines, microchipped and spayed. Interested in adopting me?  To fill out an application visit 3 Hearts 4 Paws.  Please note: we generally do not adopt out of state unless it is within 1-2 hours of us.  Currently due to COVID we are unable to accommodate out of state adoptions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 30, 2023, 12:50 pm

Story
Meet Chewbacca, also known as Chewie! This adorable three-year-old Boxer Mix is truly one of a kind, and he's ready to steal your heart with his charm and unique appearance. You'll notice right away that he was born with a cleft palate which gives him his uniqe grin. Chewie also has no ear canals, so he is mostly deaf, but that doesn't slow him down one bit - he's a big ball of energy always eager to play and have fun! With the help of a professional trainer, Chewie is learning to communicate and has already mastered his basic commands and is almost house-trained. Chewie absolutely adores bones, toys, and treats, but his biggest passion is playing with other dogs. He's made so many friends during his time at Big Hair Pet Care, where he loves running around and burning off all that endless energy. Sometimes, he can be a bit clumsy and accidentally greet his doggy pals with a friendly paw to the face, so he'd do best in a home without small animals or young children. He's a strong guy - almost a mini horse - and while he is professionally trained, he'll need a strong owner. This lovable goofball is quite the talker too! He loves to yodel his excitement, so having a home with plenty of space for him to express himself would be ideal. After an exciting day of play, Chewie also enjoys relaxing on the couch and unwinding with his favorite humans. He's looking for an adoptive family that has the perfect blend of patience and opportunities for exercise to help him adjust to his new home and keep up with his playful nature. If you're considering welcoming Chewie into your family, we'll arrange a foster period to ensure he's the perfect fit for your household. To give Chewie the best start in his new home, we're including four free in-home training sessions to help him become the best pup he can be. Chewbacca is currently being boarded in Massachusetts, and thanks to a generous volunteer sponsor, his adoption fee has been waived! Additionally, there's a $2,500 donation fund available to approved adopters for Chewie's transport if needed and ongoing training, food, and future medical care. So, if you're ready to open your heart and home to this special boy, apply to adopt Chewie today and get ready for a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments together! To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
