Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. POPPERS was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 30 October 2023. POPPERS is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of January 2023 and on has an estimated weight of 33 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue      YouTube channel      and      photo albums on our Facebook page      to see a LOT of pictures and videos. POPPERS is an absolute sweetheart, brimming with affection and love with the sweetest, gentle "old soul" type personality. He can come across like a couch potato but he loves to run and wrestle with his friends. When he was in the kennels he did gain some weight, which now he is more active he is losing them - but it is important for his family to be aware to keep him active to keep those dangerous pounds off. POPPERS is a top favourite with everyone he meets. He is a hard chewer of toys and anything other than tough chewing toys he will destroy - red kongs are like scooby snacks to him lol He has been around adults of all ages, shapes and sizes, small children and people with special needs and was gentle and loving.  He is responsive and is happy to show anyone he meets lots of love. He does need an active family who will ensure he gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that he needs to live a happy fulfilling life. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. POPPERS is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a  reduced adoption  fee of $100. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
Gypsy is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. Gypsy is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She is normally good around small dogs but occasionally mistakes one for a toy when she is over-excited. So she is not recommended for homes with small dogs. She is not too fond of puppies getting in her face either. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She could perhaps use more obedience training with someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved family member, and she needs a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited and we now know that comes from the Boxer in her. Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Ridgefield NJ, Rye NY, or Nanuet NY. She is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Story
Meet Anastasia, a sweet and loving Boxer/Black Lab mix who has just experienced the heartbreak of being surrendered. Anastasia's story began in December 2020 when she was just a tiny, adorable puppy, full of promise and potential. She found what she thought would be her forever home, adopted by a family who seemed to love her deeply. For three years, Anastasia was a loyal and affectionate companion, always ready to offer her unconditional love and warmth. However, her world was turned upside down when her family brought her back to us with the simple and cold explanation: "we had a baby." It's heartbreaking to see how some people can treat animals as disposable, casting them aside when life gets a little more complicated. Anastasia deserves so much more than that. She deserves a family that will cherish her not just when it’s convenient, but forever. Anastasia is now looking for a true forever home—one that will appreciate her for the loyal, loving dog she is. She has so much love to give and is ready to share her heart with a family who will never abandon her again. She is playful, sweet, smart, and affectionate. She loves all people and does well with other dogs. She walks well on a leash and sleeps through the night without making a peep. She is fully grown at just about 40 pounds. Anastasia would love to share her home with older children or those with prior dog experience. Anastasia is extremely trainable. She already knows many commands such as sit, stay, and give paw. Are you the one who can offer Anastasia the stable, loving home she truly deserves? If so, please consider giving this beautiful girl the forever home she's been waiting for. Apply to adopt at www.homeforgooddogs.org. ❤️🐾 Anastasia is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. All adoption applications must be completed on www.hfgdr.org** HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life! Story
Vivi is a sweet and spunky, 11-month-old female, tawny-colored, Boxer mix (with beautiful green eyes), weighing in at 40lbs. Though she's already looking for a second chance at happiness (through no fault of her own), that hasn’t stopped her from being a lovable and playful companion ready to start her happy life. Vivi may be young, but she already knows how to sit and has great leash manners. She loves to play and cuddle. Her tawny coat and adorable face will steal your heart in an instant. This curious and intelligent girl is still learning how to play with toys, but that just adds to her quirky personality. Vivi is not only affectionate and friendly, but also a social butterfly who will make the perfect lap animal and best friend. She's a joy to be around and will bring so much love and happiness into your life. She enjoys the company of people and will do well with a family who can keep up with her energetic spirit. Vivi displays a friendly interest in other dogs; any home with another dog will simply require a meet and greet with both dogs. Vivi is looking for a loving family who will give her the second chance she deserves. If you are interested in meeting Vivi, please complete a Dog Adoption Interest form. An adoption counselor will contact you to answer any questions and schedule an appointment.July 13, 2024, 3:02 pm
