Despite being found tied to a pole and brought to the Manhattan ACC, Xena has held onto her gentle, easygoing spirit and quickly became a shelter favorite. Now in foster care, Xena continues to impress everyone with her calm, loving demeanor. She's crate trained (sleeps and eats in her crate), potty trained, and knows her basic cues like "sit," "paw," "crate," and "down." She's also incredibly mellow, spending most of her day lounging and soaking up the love. Xena absolutely adores people, snuggles, pets, and belly rubs are the way to her heart. Meet Arthur 🐾 Arthur is a 10 year old, 42 lb Boxer mix (currently working on gaining a few well deserved pounds) who came to us from Queens ACC and it didn’t take long for him to steal everyone’s heart! Arthur is potty trained, crate trained, and does the cutest thing ever: he’ll happily put himself to bed at night. He sleeps through the night and will politely let you know when it’s time for a walk. Easy, respectful, and oh so sweet. This handsome senior is both people and dog friendly! Arthur truly loves other dogs and seeks them out everywhere he goes! He’s endlessly happy, greets life with so much enthusiasm, and occasionally breaks out the most adorable “old man zoomies.” Proof that age really is just a number. Arthur loves companionship and affection and enjoys being part of the action! His foster says it best: “He’s the best boy. He’s so trusting, a total lovebug, and loves giving kisses.” Arthur would make the perfect companion for someone looking for a loving, easygoing best friend, the kind who’s just happy to be by your side. Drako is a 4 Year Old Boxer Pitbull mix. He is an extremely funny, loving, kind, caring dog who needs someone to give him the time he deserves. He does have some trauma from when he was a puppy, he was bit by other dogs that were being fostered and developed a fear. We went to training but it does take him time to open up. I have two pitbulls, who both need more attention from me, and I believe, in the right home, Drako will be a lot happier. If you’re looking for a dog who will go anywhere with you, that will cuddle you and can keep you on your toes, he is definitely the dog for you. I would love someone experienced since he does have some trauma but he loves any and all people. He is perfect for the adventurous owner! Great on hikes, runs and long walks.

At barely 6 months old, Liberty was found by the side of the road with a broken leg and brought to a high-kill shelter in Texas. She landed on the euthanasia list almost immediately, but we saw the gentle hope in her eyes and couldn’t let her down. After a few months of physical therapy, Liberty is fully healed and ready to find her forever home in the Northeast. She’s the Queen of Blep—a joyful, exuberant dog who loves to be in the thick of things, BUT also loves to sleep in every day. She never tires of meeting new friends and loves to hang out at cafes and run errands with her foster parents. She’s very fond of children and is an oasis of calm even when they’re rowdy. She loves other dogs and is an A++ student at her doggy daycare. Liberty is fostered in Brooklyn, NY, and is available for local or out-of-state adoption as long as the adopter can travel to meet her. Give a warm welcome to That’s Hot, or Hottie for short, a 8 month old, 35-ish pound (as of 12/15) Terrier/Boxer mix who is fun, fearless, friendly, and housebroken! Yup, and that’s just for starters! Hottie is fabulous with kids, adults, and other dogs. She’s obsessed with toys, she loves to cuddle, and she is eager to please. Responsive to treats, she sits on command and is ready to add more words to her vocabulary. She has been working on her leash skills and is getting better every day. Hottie enjoys getting fresh air and likes to bask in the sunshine. Hottie is very food motivated, but she doesn’t guard her food, treats or toys. You can move her food dish, take away her toys, or touch her paws, and it’s all okay with her. Outgoing and brave, Hottie travels well and isn’t scared of anything. She actually welcomes adventure and loves meeting new people. Hottie barks only when excited and seems to be a minimal shedder. But watch out for your socks! Bodhi miraculously survived a hit and run car accident, now he's looking for a home! Bodhi is young, lively, and incredibly sweet. He loves people and wants connection so badly. After being hit by a car, Bodhi needed a tail amputation, but he's bounced back and he's in tip top physical shape! From what we’ve seen, he should be the only dog in the home.
