Story
Are you looking for a silly, wonderful companion to spend your time with? Alden could be your guy! He is tall, lanky and super goofy! He enjoys playing fetch, chewing on a bone (knee caps right now) and just hanging with his person. He is great with other dogs and cats, he desperately wants to be friends with them! He has big love for his humans also, he likes to play or lay by you while watching TV. Alden can entertain himself with the appropriate toys. He walks great on a leash, loves to be exploring the neighborhood. He is fully house trained, sleeps with his foster mom at night, stays in a crate while foster-mom is at work. He does need to gain a few pounds and we are working on that! Alden is one year and 8.5 months, old and 42 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events! Saturday, March 15, 12:00-1:00pm, Forgotten Star Brewing, 38 Northern Stacks Drive, Fridley, MN 55421 https://www.facebook.com/events/1617700502182290 Saturday, March 22, 11:00 am-1:00 pm, Bachman's: 6010 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55419 https://www.facebook.com/events/934265288631964 Animal attendance is subject to change based on their availability. Story
Meet Maverick! Maverick is just a baby who is still learning what being a dog is all about and is catching on very quickly. Whether it’s cats or dogs, if it’s got fur and it moves, Maverick automatically wants to play with it. This can be frustrating for senior dogs, while younger dogs will think that it’s great. Maverick likes to play with toys but gets easily distracted by the brand new world that is waiting for him to explore. Because Maverick is still learning manners, he would fit best in a home with older children. While he does well with not jumping on his foster mom, it is possible that he could accidentally knock a smaller child down. Overall, Maverick is pretty gentle and likes to snuggle with his foster mom from time to time. His crate training is coming along nicely and he can currently go for about five hours before needing to be let out. If Maverick sounds like your dog, complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet. The first step is to complete an adoption application. https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi, I'm Miles, a handsome Collie/Afghan mix weighing in at 56 pounds. As a young adult I have got the perfect balance of calm demeanor and gentle curiosity. My foster mom calls me a perfect gentleman and I take that compliment very seriously! I am a bit of a quiet soul who appreciates the simpler things in life. You won't hear me bark—I prefer to communicate with soft check-ins and gentle nudges. While I might be a bit timid and wary when first meeting new people or encountering new situations, my curious nature helps me adapt given a little time and patience. My favorite things include enjoying a Kong filled with peanut butter (yum!), taking leisurely walks to explore all the fascinating scents around me, and following my human companion around the house. I am still figuring out what toys are all about, but I am open to learning! I am completely house trained and crate trained—I actually enjoy having my own space, kind of like a teenager with his room! I walk beautifully on a leash, which means I do not need a fenced yard to be happy. I have been doing great in my foster mom's apartment with regular walks. I know several commands including sit, come, kennel/crate, and go potty. While I get along well with medium to large dogs (over 25 pounds), I do not need another doggo in my home.  I prefer looking to my humans for guidance and reassurance. I have a bit of a prey drive, so a home without cats would be best, and I do better with children over 12 years old. Loud noises and overwhelming commotion can make me a bit nervous, so a relatively calm household would help me thrive. I might take a little time to adjust to my new home, but once I feel secure, I will be your loyal, loving companion who checks in with you often. If you're looking for a sweet, handsome gentleman who will bring gentle companionship to your life, I might be the perfect match! I promise to adapt to your routine with a little time and patience, and I will reward you with my quiet, loving presence every day. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
Hi, I’m Sammy. I’m a collie beagle mix born approximately 3/17/21. I have the legs of a collie, but the beagle side of my personality is what comes out the most when it comes to sniffing. When I came to NDLB I was heartworm-positive and had a skin issue. I just finished my heartworm treatments and as you can tell from my pictures my fur has grown back beautifully. I get complimented on my coloring a lot when out for walks. Once I decide you’re my human I will stick to you like glue. I do well with my foster parent's dogs but sometimes if they are playing, I will mistake it for aggression and growl. I quickly stop if told no. Other than that, I get along great with them. I would be a great only dog since I love my humans. I go to the office with my foster mom and do well with all the customers that come in and the pesky office cats I just ignore. I’m quiet as far as barking unless I see deer or other critters on my walk. I sleep well all night on a dog bed in my foster parent's bedroom. I prefer not to be in a crate.  I do have separation issues when my foster mom leaves me at home and I have escaped from the house twice but as soon as she pulled up, I was right there by the car. This might be because I go to the office with her every day but it is something that needs to be considered. My foster parents think I’m super smart and maybe training and longer daily walks or a fenced-in yard would help with the separation issues.  I’m a very happy girl and love my walks but also don’t mind a good snuggle on the couch or right by your feet. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $395.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:33 pm

Story
Hi, I'm Amina. I'm a happy-go-lucky year-old Collie mix puppy. I need a fenced in yard to play in and kids or an active person to play with. I enjoy very long walks and runs and lots of playtime. I'm very smart. I am willing to learn new tricks. My mommy lives in a small house with a small yard. She is a senior citizen and a disabled veteran. She is unable to give me the long walks and playtime that I really need. I play great with other dogs. I just have too much energy for my disabled mommy to keep up with me. I'd be perfect for a family! I come with a kennel, food, dishes, clothes, and lots & lots of toys.
