Story
This sweet girl is gaining more confidence every day. She is approximately 1 year old and is approx 55 lbs lbs. She was DNA tested and her two primary breeds are Doberman Pinscher and American Bulldog (photo of DNA results posted). She loves children and other dogs. When we first met her, she was terrified of new people. She is still working on her confidence, and can take a little bit of time to warm up to new people, which is a common Doberman trait. Once she has decided that you are safe, she has a lot of love to give! She currently lives at a doggy day care and has also lived with children in past foster homes. Honey has some challenges that will require her to have a very patient and loving forever home. She is able to jump fences. In her previous foster home, this was an issue if she became bored. However, in a doggy day care setting, she has not attempted any fence jumping. She would be best in a home with other high energy dogs who can match her play. Honey does well in a crate if her energy needs are met. If left out, she can be destructive. Currently, we cannot say that Honey is 100% potty trained, and it is a work in progress. While these are certainly challenges, we know that the right owner is out there! She knows sit, paw, and fetch. She is still very much a puppy and has many puppy behaviors. She will add a lot of sweetness to someone's life! Honey is dewormed, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

Story
Where are our senior lovers at? Jake is another example of a dog that would have been very easy for us to adopt out 10 years ago. He's a great dog and very cute, but will need an adopter who is open to special-needs, which has been increasingly difficult for us to find. www.speedwayanimalrescue.org/adoption-application Jake is quirky. Actually, he's one of the quirkier dogs we've had in a while, and we've had a lot of weirdos. Here are the challenging aspects of Jake: -can be dog selective. Of the 6 dogs he regularly interacts with, he likes 4 -he is on Keppra for seizures, which are well-controlled -he is on Prozac -he's a runner and will need a secure yard -we would recommend a belly band while he transitions to your home. He is mostly potty trained but will mark if other dogs are markers -best in a home without children -best in a home without cats His best qualities: -he is CUTE! -he is pretty low maintenance. He enjoys walks, but also enjoys being a couch potato -he is pretty self-sufficient -he has good recall -he is crate trained in that he is calm while he is in the crate, but could use work on willingly going into the crate -he is truly a good boy The nitty-gritty: -approx 9 years old -27 lbs -neutered -vaccinated -HW negative -microchipped -recent dental -DNA tested: mini schnauzer, chihuahua, min pin, pomeranian

Benny

German Shorthaired Pointer

Male, 6 yrs
Speedway, IN
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Benny was originally born into the rescue in November of 2019 to two GSP mixes, Jack and Diane. Benny was adopted with his brother, Bo, and recently returned due to the owner moving. Benny is a very sweet boy who has the loving and sensitive German Shorthaired Pointer personality. He currently lives at a boarding and daycare facility and does well with other dogs, although he would be best in a home without small dogs or dogs. He is approximately 55 lbs. He also does great with children. Benny is a great dog who deserves to be in a home. He is potty-trained and is crated overnight, but he would prefer not to be. He likely would not be a good candidate in a home that would require frequent crating. Benny is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, on HW prevention, and will come with a Seresto collar.

Story
Sadie is very friendly and good with all people he has no special needs she will eat pretty much anything you said in front of her she loves attention her favorite thing to do is give kisses she's more than comfortable sleeping in bed with her future parents.. the main reason we are rehoming Sadie is health concern to both my wife and myself we are both 80 and just don't have time to dedicate to her loving attitude anymore.. she loves to go outside on our back porch and lay in the sun when the weather is nice would prefer someone with a home and a fenced in yard versus an apartment Sadie would not make a good apartment dog

Kore

American Staffordshire Terrier

Female, 6 yrs 1 mo
Speedway, IN
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Kore is approximately 6 years old and such a great dog. She isn't bothered by thunderstorms or fireworks and rarely makes much noise (unless you count her snoring). She knows basic commands thru hand signals because she is completely deaf. She knows how to walk well on a leash and has a ton of energy, which makes her an excellent walking/running partner. Kore is very selective on what dogs she prefers, so she does best as an only dog, but she absolutely loves all cats and kittens, even the ones who don't like her. She is great with kids of all ages, but she does forget her strength so she can be a bit much for smaller kids. She loves car trips and is fully crate trained. She is very trainable and absolutely loves to please her handler. She is very ball-motivated and will play fetch til she's utterly exhausted. She can be a bit of a piglet and she loves mud but she's an absolute dream to bathe and she will stand for you calmly and dries almost fully with one towel. She's a great dog with a super happy-go-lucky personality. A 6' fence will be necessary for anyone interested in adopting Kore.

Story
Candy is now ready! Here is what her foster tells us: Candy is a sweet, adorable, fun loving girl who enjoys just about everything. Her tail wags all the time, I would not recommend Candy in a home with small children under 6. She is still a puppy with high energy and can easily knock a small child down. She gets excited when meeting new people - she needs to learn that she can’t always jump on people. With that said she knows No, Leave it, Off and Drop it. She usually does the correction the first or second time. Candy does not like to be crated- however she is crated at my house when I’m not home- She will run if she knows she’s going in there- I just pick her up, take her to the crate and put her 1/2 in and give her a nudge to completely go in. She will bark for about 5 minutes then settle down. Candy gets along very well with other dogs and when not playing with the greyhounds, she likes to play with her toys and will play by herself. She does have a habit of wanting to take her toys outside and not bring them back in. She is learning to walk on a leash but could use some more training with that. Candy can be very affectionate as she loves giving lots and lots of kisses. Candy is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, dewormed, and on prevention. She is approximately 1 year old and 42 lbs
