Benny

German Shorthaired Pointer

Male, 6 yrs 2 mos
Speedway, IN
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Benny was originally born into the rescue in November of 2019 to two GSP mixes, Jack and Diane. Benny was adopted with his brother, Bo, and recently returned due to the owner moving. Benny is a very sweet boy who has the loving and sensitive German Shorthaired Pointer personality. He currently lives at a boarding and daycare facility and does well with other dogs, although he would be best in a home without small dogs or dogs. He is approximately 55 lbs. He also does great with children. Benny is a great dog who deserves to be in a home. He is potty-trained and is crated overnight, but he would prefer not to be. He likely would not be a good candidate in a home that would require frequent crating. Benny is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, on HW prevention, and will come with a Seresto collar.

Story
Champ was originally found as a stray in Speedway and was not claimed. During his time at the Speedway Street Department he showed us he is a very good boy, who already knew commands, enjoyed time with humans, and was potty trained. He lives in a foster home with 4 other dogs, and is daycare-approved. He lives with small children, but may be best in a home with older kids. He certainly has a "bull in a china shop" personality, but has started working with a trainer to address habits, like jumping. Champ is a sweet boy who is patiently waiting for his forever home! He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and heartworm negative.

Oliver

American Pit Bull Terrier

Male, Young
Speedway, IN
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Needs experienced adopter, House-trained,
Story
Oli is a special boy who joined our family 3 years ago as a mischievous pup. We had recently lost a (female) dog, so we were hopeful that he'd be a good companion for our older (male) dog. They bonded pretty quickly. We were in the country at the time, and they both LOVED having lots of room to play. Circumstances arose, however, forcing us back into the city, and Oli has struggled a bit in that transition... practicing his evasive maneuvers whenever possible. Aside from his bad-boy tendencies, he's full of personality, super snuggly, and loyal to a fault. A couple of months ago, he started to display some aggressive tendencies. He lunges at visitors (particularly men and friends of our teenage children). He has attacked our other older dog twice causing injury both times, without provocation. He would probably thrive best in a 1-dog home where he can be better trained.

Kore

American Staffordshire Terrier

Female, 6 yrs 4 mos
Speedway, IN
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Kore is approximately 6 years old and such a great dog. She isn't bothered by thunderstorms or fireworks and rarely makes much noise (unless you count her snoring). She knows basic commands thru hand signals because she is completely deaf. She knows how to walk well on a leash and has a ton of energy, which makes her an excellent walking/running partner. Kore is very selective on what dogs she prefers, so she does best as an only dog, but she absolutely loves all cats and kittens, even the ones who don't like her. She is great with kids of all ages, but she does forget her strength so she can be a bit much for smaller kids. She loves car trips and is fully crate trained. She is very trainable and absolutely loves to please her handler. She is very ball-motivated and will play fetch til she's utterly exhausted. She can be a bit of a piglet and she loves mud but she's an absolute dream to bathe and she will stand for you calmly and dries almost fully with one towel. She's a great dog with a super happy-go-lucky personality. A 6' fence will be necessary for anyone interested in adopting Kore.

Cattle Dog

(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
This sweet boy was found in Leonard Park, presumably dumped. He is approximately 1 year old and underweight at only 41 lbs, so he has a little room to grow. He is daycare certified and dog-friendly. He has not been tested with cats, but my gut says he wouldn't be a good fit. Dingo is a very good boy who loves to run and play. Our best guess is that he has some shepherd and/or husky in him. He does great with other dogs and is potty trained and crate trained. He likely hasn't been treated very well and can be shy with new people, but warms up very quickly. He also doesn't like if you move your hands quickly near his head, and will cower, so he may be best in a home without small children. Dingo is vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchip, neutered, and on prevention

Lucy

American Pit Bull Terrier

Female, 3 yrs 6 mos
Speedway, IN
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Lucy is an extremely sweet girl who doesn't have many flaws. She is great with dogs and children. She currently lives with cats but would likely be best in a home without them, because she can be overexuberant with them. Lucy does everything 100% - she loves big and plays big. Lucy is technically listed as special needs for two reasons: 1) she has arthritis in her knee due to an old CCL tear. She should be kept on a joint supplement for the remainder of her life. 2) Like most pitties, she has sensitive skin. This is also well-controlled with a supplement. Her foster will send some with her to her new home. Lucy would probably be happiest in a home with another dog who can match her energy. This girl does not know an enemy! She can be shy at first with new people, but warms up very quickly. She is crate-trained, potty-trained, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
