Story
Meet Ausra! This one year old pit bull mix is perfectly imperfect in every way! She has a malformed back foot, but that doesn't slow her down one bit :) She loves people and has done well with other dogs in her foster home - big and small. She's also fine with cats. She is goofy with a stubborn streak, so be prepared to laugh a lot! Her foster home is working on house training, crate training, leash training, and other basic manners and she's catching on quickly. She does have an allergy to chicken, but has done well on a variety of Pro Plan that won't break the bank. Ausra's adoption fee is $250 and with that she comes vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She also had a Proheart injection that is good until December to protect against heartworm. Interested in adding her to your family? Story
Meet Balto! This senior fellow came to Helping Paws from the shelter with a bum back leg. We had him checked out by our vets and it was discovered that he has old ligament damage to that knee. That doesn't slow him down, though! Now that he has pain meds to be given as needed, he is a happy boy! He does well with other dogs and ignores the cats in his foster home. He is all Husky for sure, so people with breed experience would be preferred, but not required. He hasn't been around a lot of kids, but he is friendly with people. We suggest older children because he does occasionally take treats pretty roughly and we wouldn't want little fingers to be bitten. He is house trained and crate trained! He loves to curl up on the couch and nap, like any older gentleman would :) Balto's adoption fee is $200 and with that he comes neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He's also been on heartworm and flea prevention. Interested in meeting him? Visit www.helpingpawsonline.com/adoption-application

Story
Meet Girlie! You're not reading the description wrong - Girlie's DNA showed she is a pit bull mixed with a bunch of smaller breeds - predominantly Yorkie! LOL. What resulted was a lower rider who will make you smile :) Girlie came to Helping Paws from the shelter, where she was assumed to be a senior based on the cataracts on her eyes. Upon examination from our vet, it was concluded that she was actually more like 3-4 years old and had juvenile cataracts. We were sent to a specialist, and they thought she was a great candidate for cataracts surgery! She had that over the summer and her foster mom reports that she seems MUCH better and definitely has a better quality of life now. Girlie does great with adults and cats. She also does well with older children, but absolutely no little ones. She can be very dog selective, so either a home with no other dogs or one with a very calm dog that basically ignores her could work. She likes to go for walks, cuddle up with you in bed, and loves getting belly rubs :) She is potty pad trained, but will also go outside as well. Girlie's adoption fee is $300 and with that she comes fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Story
Woof woof! Hi there, I'm Shadow, the friendliest ten-year-old neutered bully breed you'll ever meet. I'm on the lookout for my forever family, and I'm ready to be your loyal companion. They call me Shadow because I love to be with my people and follow them everywhere. If you need a sidekick, I'm your pup! Right now, I'm living with three other big dogs, and we're like one big happy family. But when it comes to meeting new doggy pals, I might need a little time to get to know them, so introductions should be slow and gentle. Kids? Oh, I love 'em! Whenever I've been around kiddos, I've been on my best behavior. I'm a gentle giant at heart. As for those kitty friends, well, they seem pretty intriguing to me, but I'm willing to take it slow and have a warming-up period. Who knows, maybe we can become buddies too! When I came from the shelter, I had some yucky eyes that the nice people at the rescue took me to get checked out. It turns out I need eye drops more than likely for the rest of my life, but that doesn't slow me down one bit! I am currently taking meds for anxiety, but people here think that once I get settled in a place for a bit longer, I may be able to get off of those. So, if you're looking for a loving and devoted doggy companion, I'm your guy, ready to fill your life with wagging tails and unconditional love. Woof woof! ??? Shadow's adoption fee is $150 and he will come fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.
