Story
Greta Sue is a sweet, spunky senior girl who would be fine as a solo pup, but she does get along well with other small dogs if introduced slowly. She is playful with her foster siblings and loves to romp around! She is estimated to be around 11 years old, but she still has a playful spirit. Greta Sue is crate trained (although she does, on occasion, like to share her opinions vocally about being crated), house trained, and does well on the leash. We don't really know what breeds she is... best guess would be some kind of a schnauzer, poodle, yorkie mix! She is about 10-11 lbs and won't get any bigger. Greta Sue is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms, but she can still be adopted while she is going through treatment. She is missing several teeth, but does not have any infected teeth remaining per the vet. She has cataracts but can still see. She needs a home without children, and would likely do well with older teenagers as a minimum. Let's hear a little from Greta Sue: "First of all, I'm darn cute and I know it! I ended up in the shelter as a stray, positive for heartworms, with an icky case of dermatitis. My hair was long and stringy and it was clear it had been a while since I had been really loved. I will admit, I came on a little strong with my foster mama the first time I met her… I'm not so proud of my behavior, but I kinda lunged at her and tried to nip her. Thankfully she recognized that I was really stressed because I had just left the shelter, and she didn't hold that against me. She gave me space for the drive to my foster home, and I returned the favor by behaving like a good girl for my first medicated oatmeal bath. She hand-fed me dinner for the first several days so we could grow a bond, and I learned that she could be trusted. After being allowed to decompress from the shelter, I got to meet the other dogs in my foster home. My favorite is Remy, because she's about my size, and she is playful! We love to play together and wrestle, then take a good nap. I'm still looking for my forever home, so I thought I'd put together a list of the things I'm most looking for: - A home that will be patient and understand that I might be a little unsure at first, but will work with me to build a bond. - A home with no kids, where if kids do come for a visit, they will either be respectful of my need for space from them or where I'll have a safe space to hang out while they are around. - A family that is home a lot. I do pretty well in the crate, but I would love to be around my family for the majority of the time. - A home where I'm allowed to snuggle on the sofa a lot, because I love being next to my person/people! - A home where I get lots of chest and tummy rubs, because those are kinda my favorite. I'm not picky about men or women, as long as they give me a little time to adjust. Once I feel comfortable, I'll follow my person from room to room, because I have to keep an eye on them. My foster mama thinks it's pretty cute! Well, thanks for reading all that, because I know I got kinda long-winded. I just want to make sure I find the perfect forever home, and for everyone to know how precious and sweet I can be if I'm allowed a little space at first! I know my foster family is going to miss me when my forever home comes along, but they know I'm the perfect companion for someone who needs a loving little friend to spend their days and nights with." - Greta Sue When you adopt, your new fur baby will come completely vetted with the following: Overall health checkup Microchip Age/Health Appropriate Vaccinations Heart worm test (for dogs) Fiv/FeLV tested (for cats) Parvo test (for dogs) Spay/neuter (voucher for puppy/kitten if not old enough to be sterilized) Can you bring me home?
