If you are interested in meeting Fancy please contact Kendelle Federico at 336-266-4138 via text message or email kfederico@guilfordcountync.gov. Here's a little about Fancy from our volunteers: "I had the pleasure of spending a couple hours with Fancy today at a trunk or treat event. HOW is she STILL available??? Calmest car rider ever. Laid right down in the back seat and even fell asleep on the ride home. Very very dog friendly. Kind, calm and polite. Non reactive to barking dog in close quarters. LOVES kids. But is still calm and gentle, doesn't jump on them or get overly excited. Just wags her tail and accepts pets. She is a social butterfly! She waited quietly at the door of the event for anyone to come out and give her a pet. (The audacity of some people walking right by her sweet and inviting face! ) Walks very nicely on leash, and stays with you (unless she realllly wants something and then she will pull a touch) Treat motivated but takes them SO gently that even little kiddos can hand them to her. Costume and mask approved. She wasn't spooked by any costumes- even several inflatable ones! Brewery fan?? This girl is for you. She will lay at your feet on a patio and watch the world go by, totally content. (Though she might beg a fry from you if you get any- politely of course!!) Fancy came in to the shelter in August with two of her puppies. They've found homes. She is every bit as loving and nurturing as you would expect a mama pup to be. She was so happy to meet everyone this evening. I honestly cannot believe she hasn't found a home yet. If we had space, she would join our family in a heartbeat. Can't find a better energy than this girl has! PLEASE help find her a home before we end up with another dog! "

Story
Ava recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what her DDO buddy had to say! "Meet Ava! 59lbs, 6 year old, Female, Collie / Shepherd. DDO with sweet lady Ava: Ava did great in the car - she jumped right in & laid down. We started the day out with a walk on some trails at the park. Ava prefers to take the lead on her walks, she knows where she's going and keeps her nose to the ground almost the entire time (exceptions were the stops for affection, treats, and pictures). She's a strong girl don't let her fool you! Affection = little spurts of energy for Ava, she loves it. Did I mention she LOVES a little adventure? I think she would've walked on the trails all day if she could! Ava knows sit and down, and will do anything for a yummy treat! She acts like a lady, did not jump on me or anyone we met on the trail, and gently takes her treats. She did not make a bark our whole time together. Next we rode to the humans house for a little break on the porch where we got lots of pets and love. Soon she was ready to go go go again, so we took a brief stroll around the neighborhood. We ended our day together with a trip to the drive through coffee bar where Ava got a pup cup - plus the much wanted attention from all of the humans - and of course she ate it like a lady, carefully getting the whipped cream out without making a mess. Ava will make a great companion and is at the GCAS waiting on her furever home!" Ava has had positive interactions with other dogs outside of the shelter, but her owner informed us that she can be reactive on leash so it's best not to do introductions on leash. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Malarkey recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! DDO #2 "Mr Malarkey and I had a fun and snuggly Dog Days Out! We went to a sniffspot and walked around a lot and stopped for treats occasionally! then got all clean from a bath, had some steak for lunch, and spent the rest of the evening walking around downtown Greensboro and cuddling at the Awoo cafe! Some fun facts about this baby ~ He loves tennis balls! he specifically loves to chew on them, so this lil guy may need some tough toys Loves snackies! He's very treat motivated and he knows sit! So gentle on a leash! He does not pull at all and walks very calmly, the only time he pulled was when someone was offering pets to him He is the most gentle baby! every time he got treats he took them so gently from my hand This pup loves people, his tail was wagging the entire time people walked by him, it was impossible to resist petting him He does great in a car! he lays down most of the time and will occasionally peer over your shoulder to give you kisses! He is a perfect boy for baths! he got clean at All Pets Considered and did so perfect for the bath and being dried! i could tell he felt so much better after Malarkey is a sweetheart, he would be great for any family, including kids and animals which he has tested great for! it is always recommended to bring kids and/or pets to meet at the shelter to see how everyone reacts" DDO #1: "Meet Malarkey! We enjoyed the day together on a Dog's Day Out! He is: 5 y/o - 60 pounds (of pure sugar!) HW + (Not a big deal- curable, super easily managed, non contagious & the shelter provides all remaining treatments upon adoption) He rode in the car well. He laid down some and also popped up & happily watched the world go by We hung out at my house in the yard and the kitchen. While hanging in the kitchen I made lunch & he had perfect manners. No begging/counter surfing or whining. No accidents. He sat at my husbands feet for a while and played with a kong. He loves to lean into you & show affection. : He enjoyed exploring the yard and chasing the ball. He got more comfortable in the yard and became more playful as time went on. He knows sit & loves treats. Very treat motivated (takes theme gently) a great indicator he is very trainable! : Dog friendly. He met my dog and cat first behind a baby gate and was happy and curious. He then met my dog briefly outside on a leash and though they did well, he would do best with a very social and/or submissive dog as he has some dominant behaviors. He is a super handsome & very affectionate boy! Seemingly house trained. He is low/medium energy. He will make someone very happy! Could it be youOr someone you know Meet Malarkey during adoption hours 12-4 everyday but Tuesday"

Story
Burman recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! "Meet Burman.. He may look a little intimidating because of his strong build, but I can promise you there is not a single bone in his body that isn't full of love and joy! I cant even put into words how amazing this boy is! He is 80 pounds and every inch of him is full of love. He has been in the shelter for about 146 days, which is 146 days too long and it breaks my heart. Burman deserves the world for the type of dog he is. He truly is a man's best friend! When taking him out of the kennel, I instantly noticed how excited he was to be around people and in a comfy bed! He was the most amazing, goofy, playful and cuddly boy on his Dogs Day Out today! Burman has so much personality and is quite the character! We spent some of the day at the park and he had so much fun running around playing with us. He was so smiley the entire time and never failed to be the silly boy he is! After the park, he came back and snuggled right up with me, gave so many kisses and never missed out the opportunity for some good hugs. He hopped up in the car with no hesitation and sat beautifully the entire car ride. He is so playful and LOVES meeting new people; genuinely the most friendly dog you will ever meet!!! Burman loves his treats and the best part is, he knows how to sit and shake like such a gentleman. He is also housetrained and let me know everytime he had to go out by coming up to me and then sitting so nicely by the door. Burman does have some kennel stress, so at first he was having some trouble with pulling on the leash but the second he realized he was calm and comfortable, he was nothing but perfect. There is absolutely nothing bad I can say about this sweet boy! I ADORE him and so did everyone around him. I really really hope he finds the perfect home for him because anyone would be so lucky to take him home!!! Housetrained Playful Affectionate Cuddly Loving Super sweet Loves hugs It absolutely broke my heart bringing him back to his kennel today. He got so comfortable so quickly and deserves a home with a comfy bed for him to snuggle into. He needs someone to love and take care of him, but the second you spend time with him, you will realize that is not hard to do at all. He makes loving him so easy and he is so special! If you are looking for a dog, he is the one! He will give you endless love and affection without hesitation. I loved him so much that I knew instantly I had to take him out again soon, especially because of how much I am going to miss having his fun personality around! Please help this sweet boy find the PERFECT home."
