Story
My name is Nina (or "Neeners!"). I was born on April 1, 2025, to a Rescue mutt, and I don't know what kind of doggo I am. I don't have high energy; I like to play but am also happy sleeping in the sun or beside a person. I love my people. I'm not here because I'm bad. I never did anything wrong! I don't snap or growl, I don't chew on anything that doesn't belong to me, and I don't start barking when other dogs in the neighborhood do. I'm interested in people food but never try to steal it. I am pretty timid. I'm the kind of doggo who when you step on my foot, I crouch down and apologize. I get scared of loud noises like construction. Sometimes I need to be told "it's not scary", with my chest being rubbed. That always makes me feel better. I think cats are puppies and want to play, but I never hurt them. I think I would like to be in a house with more dogs to play with; I was fostered with my siblings and I think I miss them. But if I have my people, I am happy.

Story
Meet Gado! Gado joined our family as an adorable 8-week-old puppy, and he’s now a playful, affectionate 3 year-old . He’s full of love, thrives on attention, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Gado is happiest when he’s outside running around or playing a game of fetch. Due to family health issues, Gado is looking for a new home where he can continue to enjoy life, stay active, and be part of a loving family. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun, and friendly companion, Gado might be the perfect fit for you!

Story
Meet Meeko 🐾 — Our Long-Timer with a Heart of Gold Meeko’s story began on March 5, 2024, when a kind young man found him near a sharp curve on Bobbitt Road and knew this sweet pup deserved a second chance. At his first vet visit, Meeko was estimated to be about six months old—and he’s been spreading joy and puppy energy ever since! Meeko is a very good boy who loves his dog toys and still enjoys a good puppy chew. He sleeps through the night in his crate with no accidents and does great with a routine. During the day, he enjoys time outside in a fenced yard, then happily comes inside in the evenings to cuddle and soak up affection. This friendly, loving pup adores being petted and shows his gratitude with plenty of kisses. He knows how to sit (even if his wiggly puppy butt sometimes takes over when he’s excited 😄), rides great in the car, and uses a slow-feeder bowl to help him pace himself at mealtime. Meeko is looking for a forever family who will give him the love, playtime, and continued guidance he needs as he grows into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. After waiting far too long, this sweet boy is more than ready for his happily ever after. ❤️ Interested in meeting Meeko? Fill out an adoption application at hsdavie.org/dogs and help give this deserving pup the home he’s been waiting for, through the Humane Society of Davie County.

Story
Mac is the biggest pup of his litter, but don’t let his size fool you—this handsome guy is a laid-back sweetheart most of the time. He absolutely loves outings where he can soak up attention and charm everyone he meets. Mac is a social butterfly who’s always up for making new friends! At home, he’s a playful goofball who keeps us laughing with his antics—especially when he grabs his sister Macy’s tail and takes off! Mac plays hard with his siblings and lives life with a fun-loving, adventurous spirit. Mac is also a special needs pup—we believe he is most likely deaf or at least significantly hard of hearing. He’ll need a patient, experienced adopter who understands the importance of structure, boundaries, and ongoing training. While he can be a bit of a challenge at times, he is absolutely trainable and will thrive with a strong, confident handler who can help guide him. A full hearing and sight evaluation is recommended to better understand his needs and help set him up for success. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a joyful, smart, and uniquely lovable pup, Mac might just be your perfect match. Apply to adopt at hsdavie.org/dogs and help Mac find the home—and the leader—he deserves.

Found as a thin stray by animal control, no one claimed this handsome boy. He likes treats and takes them gingerly; likes to play fetch with a frisbee/ball; is a little unsure of new people, but warms rather quickly with toys and treats. He is a resource guarder with his toys. He is unsure about bring touched until he gets to know someone. He needs someone with patience and understanding of the German Shepherd breed to allow him to come out of his shell.
