Story
Finn is a sweetheart! We adopted her from a shelter in 2019 and she’s been great. However, we’ve since had two children and Finn seems more anxious. She is fine with them but I think she is not a fan of small children and would thrive in an adult household. She loves to love on you and go anywhere you go. We just can’t give her the attention she needs anymore. We want her to be happy and live the rest of her life comfortably and stress free. She enjoys playing with other dogs and gets along with most.

Story
Meeko is a 2-year-old, 42-pound mixed breed with a sleek black coat and expressive eyes that stop you in your tracks. He came into rescue in March of 2024 after being found as a stray, and while he was estimated to be just a puppy at the time, he’s grown into a happy, affectionate young dog who is more than ready for a fresh start. He loves being petted, adores his toys (truly — toys are his happy place), and still has that fun puppy spirit balanced with a growing sense of maturity. Meeko does well with routine, sleeps through the night in his crate, has no known medical issues, and knows how to sit — even if his excitement sometimes makes his wiggly butt take over. He can be a little timid around new people at first, but once he feels safe, his sweet and friendly personality shines. He’s smart, eager to please, and would thrive with continued training and positive reinforcement. Meeko would love a home with a fenced yard, where he can run, explore, and enjoy the kind of outdoor time he’s used to. He may be dog-selective, so slow introductions and supervised meet-and-greets are recommended if there’s another dog in the home. He hasn’t been around cats, and while he’s had limited exposure to children, he’s done well with calm, supervised interactions. Most of all, Meeko is looking for a patient, committed family who will give him time to settle in, help build his confidence, and continue guiding him as he grows. He seems to genuinely want to do the right thing — the kind of dog who forms a deep bond and becomes incredibly loyal to his people. This Valentine’s Day, Meeko isn’t asking for chocolates or roses. He’s hoping for a family who will choose him — someone ready to give him the love, structure, patience, and playtime he deserves after waiting nearly a year. If you're looking for your valentine, Meeko may be your match. Apply to adopt at hsdavie.org/dogs

Story
Mac is the biggest pup of his litter, but don’t let his size fool you—this handsome guy is a laid-back sweetheart most of the time. He absolutely loves outings where he can soak up attention and charm everyone he meets. Mac is a social butterfly who’s always up for making new friends! At home, he’s a playful goofball who keeps us laughing with his antics—especially when he grabs his sister Macy’s tail and takes off! Mac plays hard with his siblings and lives life with a fun-loving, adventurous spirit. Mac is also a special needs pup—we believe he is most likely deaf or at least significantly hard of hearing. He’ll need a patient, experienced adopter who understands the importance of structure, boundaries, and ongoing training. While he can be a bit of a challenge at times, he is absolutely trainable and will thrive with a strong, confident handler who can help guide him. A full hearing and sight evaluation is recommended to better understand his needs and help set him up for success. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a joyful, smart, and uniquely lovable pup, Mac might just be your perfect match. Apply to adopt at hsdavie.org/dogs and help Mac find the home—and the leader—he deserves.
