Story
Shady is a sweet, well-behaved dog. I adopted her from a shelter in El Paso, TX in 2020. She is now 8 years old but still very active and energetic. She has lived with a cat for the past 5 years, and she also lived with small children for a year. She will rarely bark (I only have heard her bark a handful of times). She is cuddly and loyal, and I would say her only behavioral issues would be pulling a bit when walking on the leash and getting on furniture. Other than that, she is a fun-loving dog and a great companion. I am sad to give her away, but I know there are loving homes and families out there that can better care for her since I am moving out of the country.

Story
Frito lives for love, a true companion that has an endless supply of cuddles and affection for you. Frito is an adventurer at heart, but his favorite pastime is lying next to you or on your lap if you’ll allow it. Bonus, his love is not exclusive to his owner; he shows the same affection to all humans. Frito is always ready for play, a run, a walk around the neighborhood otlr through the woods, or a hike, and he will fearlessly follow you on any adventure. He has big energy compressed into a pocket sized body. He’s just a silly little meatball. He is great on a leash when you’ve got his attention, and behaves himself when passing other dogs and people. Frito has great recall in the house and outside. He is crate trained and potty trained. Frito has been left behind in his past and as a result he has quite a bit of separation anxiety. He displays this anxiety by whining and crying. As he learns to trust he does quiet down, but he would not be best suited for apartment living as neighbor noises will surely m lake him think he's being ignored and they'll be able to hear him. When you get home Frito is the happiest boy, jumping and running around, he explodes with excitement. Frito will need time and dedication to completely correct his overly excited behavior. Frito would do best in a home that is committed to his training him to be the best boy he can be. Frito LOVES kids - like extra loves kids. He is good with cats but does like to try to play so an understanding cat would be ideal, or the cat having a place to have some peace. Frito is good with dogs of all sizes, though his energy could be a lot for some, so a tolerant friend, and slow introductions would be best. Are you ready for endless cuddles and entertainment? Are you a strong leader looking for a lovable, active, pocked-sized sidekick? Then Frito is just the pup for you!

Story
Mia is as sweet and loving as she looks, and she knows how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Whether that’s a nap in the sun, a soft bed (pillow please!), or a chance to lean against a trusted human, she never seems bored with quality chill time. Mia is a lover of leisure but NOT a lazy dog. When she first came to the rescue she was excited go outside but very fearful away from the house, even in quiet neighborhoods. We are so proud of how much she has grown! Mia is now confident on her walks and is great on a leash. She practices being calm in different environments daily and is doing really well in guided sessions that help her harness her excitement. Mia’s loving spirit makes her quick to warm up to humans and an experienced attentive owner will find she is very easy to read. Mia loves children but is still learning how to control her nervous energy. She would do better in a home with older children who can understand boundaries and can participant in showing her leadership and safety. She’s very interested in other dogs but needs extra time acclimating to a new space before starting slow introductions. She would also do well as the only dog as it would allow her to get the training focus she needs. Mia’s growth has proven what an amazing dog she is and how much potential she still has to show. A forever family dedicated to helping her practice and build on her skills will be rewarded with a very loyal, intelligent, active and, of course, snuggly dog.

Story
Meet Rhett! This striking blue and amber eyed boy is a sensitive soul; his time in the shelter didn't break his soft heart, he's very close and cuddly with his person and he likes to meet new friends. Rhett LOVES to snuggle. He's presently living in harmony with another dog and cat in his foster home, he doesn't pay much mind to the cat at all and he likes to play with his doggy friend occasionally but calms down easily. Rhett hasn't had any formal training but he's getting better on a leash, knows how to lay down, and he comes when he's called (if you can get him to leave your side in the first place). He's extremely treat motivated so he should do well with someone patient that's willing to work on obedience training with him. He's a very quiet boy, even when his foster sister is barking her face off at passers by Rhett doesn't make a peep, he just quietly watches the action. We think he might be a greyhound mix but that's just a guess. Rhett was in the shelter for a while so he has a few nervous self-soothing habits, most notably he slowly pets himself to sleep, and he has worried the hair around his waist although that seems to be subsiding now that he has a more stable environment. Rhett will do well with someone patient that's willing to help him learn new skills and loves a close cuddle bug.

Story
Meet Bowie 💙 A deeply loyal, big-hearted dog who loves with his whole soul. Bowie is the kind of dog who forms a tight, meaningful bond with his people. With his immediate family — mom, dad, and two kids — he is affectionate, cuddly, and fully devoted. He thrives on closeness, loves being touched by his favorite humans, and will happily lean in for vigorous neck scratches any chance he gets. If you talk to him, he’ll tilt his head and listen like he’s trying to understand every word. At home, Bowie is a rock-solid companion. He’s fully crate trained, happily settling in overnight without complaint, and has been 100% potty trained for years — he’ll even alert you when it’s time to go outside. He understands structure and does beautifully with it, holding his “place” when asked and respecting boundaries, including an invisible fence. He’s quiet and observant, barking only when something truly seems out of place, like a car pulling into the driveway or a knock at the door. Bowie enjoys his daily walks, walks politely on leash, and responds reliably to commands like “heel” and “come.” He’s not reactive toward dogs or people while out and about, though squirrels definitely test his self-control. He loves tug games, playing hide-and-seek with his family, short car rides, and gleefully dismantling squeaky toys. Toss him an ice cube and he’ll try to catch it midair like it’s the best game ever invented. Socially, Bowie does great with other dogs and regularly attends free-range doggie daycare without issue. He lives peacefully with a cat who was already part of the household, though he will chase unfamiliar cats or small critters outdoors — his prey drive is something to be mindful of. When it comes to visitors, Bowie is protective of his home and family. He needs clear boundaries and management with new people, especially children outside his immediate family, and does best when his space and routines are respected. With familiar adult visitors, he can relax and coexist comfortably. Healthy, vaccinated, and well cared for, Bowie is ready for a home that values loyalty, structure, and deep connection. He doesn’t need to be everyone’s dog — he wants to be your dog. In the right home, with patient, confident humans who appreciate his devotion and respect his needs, Bowie will be an incredibly loving and rewarding companion.
