Story
Hi! My name is Lindley and I am from a shelter in Arkansas. From the foster: Lindley is roughly 70 lbs. (just under) and at a healthy weight-which is incredible because she's been caring for ELEVEN puppies! She has been one of the greatest mommas we've had and my friend even yesterday said they think she's their favorite ever. And we've had A LOT of moms. :) She is fully potty trained and we haven't tried her in a kennel yet because she needed to have access to her puppies and then did so great being left out that now she free roams while we're gone. The only thing she likes to do that's kinda naughty, is chew on shoes when she's bored, and dig in the yard She is the sweeetest dog and even if you walk by, just minding your own business, she'll roll over to show she'd like some belly rubs. And when you're petting her and stop, she puts her paw on your arm to remind you she's not done yet hehe. She's so dang amazing and we hope she finds her people soon.

Story
Hi I’m Fig. I love to explore with my human companion, wrestle with my household brother or just chew on a good toy. I’m a fast learner too. I learned how to sit, lay down, shake and roll over. My foster mom is working on my impulse control but sometimes I just get so excited that it’s hard to wait. I’d love to join an active family who ends the day with a movie and cuddles on the couch.  ##1782153##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Olaf, The Great Pyrenees: He's a big, white, fluffy two year old who wants endless pets and unconditional love. He was found by a kind citizen that brought him into the rescue. After they looked him over it was clear that he was neglected: severely underweight and could barely walk. We didn't hesitate to help. We opened up our home to him where he is deeply loved and cared for. After a visit with the vet it turns out he was born with a neurological disorder where he is unable to support himself correctly. He still walks and runs fine but with more of a "hopping" motion. He tends to slip here and there on the hardwood floors so he prefers carpet or a nice big rug to help with his traction. Unfortunately he is still too weak to climb up and down the stairs. He LOVES kids and other dogs, (has not been around any cats yet) he is fully potty trained, sleeps on his dog bed all night, and you can expect a big wet kiss in the morning for your alarm clock.  He loves his toys, rolling around in the snow, and taking naps  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 2, 2023, 11:23 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Update September 29th:  Kit has now been in our foster home for almost 5 months & recently visited a temp home, while we went out of town for a few nights, where she invited pets from her temporary fosters almost immediately.  She is adapting much more quickly when taken to new places. She also attended an adoption event recently & met lots of people, and let many of them pet her.  She will cautiously sniff new people & approach, but it will take her a bit to truly invite attention.  She also is responding to the “come” command to get her leash or harness on, where a few months ago, she would run away from the leash the minute it came out.  We moved her kennel, so had a bit of challenge re-orienting her to it, but she still goes in easily & is quiet when there.  If Kit had her way, she would be outside all the time, but she knows colder weather is on the way, so more inside time will be inevitable. This is Kit, she’s a Doberman/Great Pyrenees mix born approximately 9/29/22. Kit has been with us for 3 months as of Aug 7th and is finally starting to open up a bit. She will now kennel on command & come inside when called. She still won’t go near her food bowl if anyone is nearby & will accept some pets & love on the couch. She is very sweet, but will likely take many months or weeks before she truly allows a new owner to see her full personality. She is quite a barker outside & is on high alert at all times. She will definitely need a fenced in yard & must have a dog in her new home to follow & get confidence. A privacy fence is preferred, as she barks at people next door & sometimes charges the chain link fence.  I believe it is her nature to protect, so this doesn’t alarm me, but it can be pretty annoying. She does listen when told “no”, in fact, she hears it a lot and knows the command well. She plays hard, but would be great with a larger calmer dog.  She has not shown any aggression towards dogs but has developed a high prey drive, so no cats, birds, rabbits or other small pets will work.  We have chickens & she wants to see how tasty they may be. She should be kenneled when left alone, during the day for work or at night.  She nervously chews blankets or pillows/couch cushions if left alone for too long.  She would be great to sleep on a bed or with you, as she does snuggle pretty well, but her kennel has been her safe space. She has not chewed on her dog bed while in kennel. She has never had an accident in the house or her kennel.  She will hold it for up to 10 hours, as we learned when I got held up at work a few times. She will be the dog that impresses you with intelligence, and it will be a rewarding experience to see her change & improve.  Every little thing as she opens up, is so fun to watch & celebrate! She will be 1 year old soon, and would love a forever home for her birthday! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $550.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 2, 2023, 11:23 pm

He loves dog parks and playing outside, rolling in the grass. He will do well in a fenced property or farm. He is leash trained, muzzle trained, and crate trained, however, the door often remains open. He’s a quick learner. He’s a little over 2 years old and shy of 100 pounds. He knows no, wait, down, paw, gentle, bed, belly, “get it” to eat, and sit with many more things he’s still perfecting. He is friendly with adults but nervous around kids. He is reactive around food and personal space. Avoid approaching him when he’s laying down, eating food or chewing toys.   He has separation anxiety and loves being around a calm person. He doesn’t play fetch but he loves chasing a laser like a cat. He prefers humans to chase him as a way of playing. He came from a home with two adults and should not go to a home with children. He’s used to a more quiet space and doesn’t do very well with loud noise for hours.  He does a great job outside watching his previous owner in his work shop. He does a great job being an outside guard dog, that’s definitely the Great Pyrenees in him. He loves to work and play. He has a ton of energy.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   or     *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Selene found herself unwanted at a high kill shelter in West Texas. She is good with kids. She is not good with cats or other dogs due yo resource guarding.   All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Selene is a Great Pyrenees mix that arrived from Texas on July 8th. We don't know what mix she is, but she has a lot of Great Pyrenees features, including the double dew claws, but in a smaller size! She has been through a lot of change and needed some extra time to acclimate to home life. She was originally in a different home that quickly realized she wasn't the right fit for them. She is currently being fostered by a Matty's family with two Great Pyrenees resident dogs and two smaller breed fosters and has settled in! Selene was very underweight and at first tried to hoard her food. Now she knows food is readily available and has got her routine down! She still needs some coaxing to finish her bowl so her foster mom sneaks whipped cream in her bowl. She can get agitated leading to meal time and so you should be cautious with food around that time (and with any dog in general). Once her belly is full, she bounces out of the room with her tail up and she's ready to play!  Selene shows good play manners and paws at friends to try to get them going. She is learning how fun toys can be and happily grabs an approved chew item and works on it.   Selene loves to curl up on the couch or push a blanket around to make her spot exactly right. Selene isn't a huge fan of her crate, but enters willingly with high value treats as a reward. She is house trained but still working on keeping her kennel dry when left for long periods.  Selene is really a people lover. We took her to her first foster event on 7/22 and she greeted people of all ages happily for 6 hours...then tried to greet everyone who walked by us on the way out!  At home, she watches her humans and happily settles down next them or where she can keep keep a good eye on them. She loves to greet you at the door and comes in for a good side hug. She arrived to MN during shedding season and has LOVED being brushed.  She would be best as an only dog in a home as she can be selective with dogs and likes to have her people. toys and food to herself. Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 2, 2023, 9:09 pm
