Logan is a good boy! He likes to chew bones, wrestle with our resident dog, take naps and he loves to bark! He's definitely in his teen years and can be a bit sassy, at times. He's a great big, lovable goofball who would do great with a family that wants to snuggle and play with him! Logan is a big boy who really likes people. However, due to his size and occasional mouthiness he'd do best in a home with older children. He also isn't super comfortable with small dogs. He would love to have a larger canine friend. He walks well on a leash but is working on some leash reactivity.

Jem is a GEM of a puppy, (see what I did there?). Truly, a gentle (soon to be) giant. She is playful & cuddly. She enjoys a morning walk & is eager to greet you. She walks well on a leash, despite her ocasional puppy zig-zags. She is crate trained through the night with no whining. She is potty trained (98%!) very few accidents & only if she's had more water than usual or we have forgotten to take her out. Great with children of all ages, adults & other dogs. Unsure about cats & a little uncertain as to how she would do with one being she loves to chase the bunnies in our yard. She is calm & fairly relaxed overall. She would need to be let out every four hours to start, as would any puppy. We are working on not chewing on personal items, a simple redirection to one of her stuffed animals & she listens well. Such a smart girl, she has been a light to our family & looks forward to meeting you.      ##2014751##

Welcome Athena to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 2-year Great Pyrenees. She weighs about 90 pounds. She has a beautiful coat and the typical extra back toes commonly found in this breed. This is a guardian breed dog. They naturally will protect their flock or family. This breed will do best in a fully fenced yard as they will roam away if there is no fence. She is good with other dogs and will need some more leash work. She would be great with someone that knows the breed and loves it. She should have the natural tendencies of this breed. She had puppies and we adopted them out. We also adopted out the larger male that was found with her as a stray. She would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is up on her vaccines, healthy, spayed and ready for her forever home. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Cloud is 2.5 yo and full of playfulness, energy, and a sense of humor. He loves the snow, lots of attention, walks, and playing with other dogs. He has never met a person he doesn't love. He (ostensibly) knows basic commands and is crate trained. We are heartbroken to have to rehome him. Cloud would do best with an owner or family with either lots of dog experience or the time and resources for more extensive behavioral training. He is amazing meeting strangers and children on a leash, but we have 2 smaller children at home and are pregnant again and he tends to play with our children like they are puppies (lots of mouthing and bumping them over) despite lots of training. We think he would do better in a home with older or no children where an owner can maintain a calmer environment. Cloud also hates having his nails cut and basic grooming (other than being brushed), and our vet has recommended working with a vet behavioralist to address these issues.

My name is Harley and it comes from the Old English origin meaning 'Hare Meadow', which represents a peaceful and serene image. Just nothing like seeing a Pyr laying in the yard watching! Unfortunately my elderly owner is not able to care for me any longer but I'm trying not to let it get me down as I look for another family to adopt. Did you know that I came from royalty? The Pyrenees breed came from France where we made our way up from being a peasant farmers dog to the royal court being named the royal dog of France in 1675. Even Queen Victoria had a Pyr. We are strong willed and can sometimes be stubborn but more importantly we are affectionate, patient, confident, fearless and gentle. It is said that we wouldn't make a good breed for first timers but if you're aware of the negative traits (sometimes stubborn & lots of hair) along with the awesome good traits, we could definitely make it work. As a youngster at only around a year and a half old, I do have some basic obedience training, am well mannered, I don't jump up unless invited and have a sweet, loving warm nature that just adores getting 'good boys' from my people. I am a big boy of snowy white fluff. I will need several weekly brushings to keep my royal self tangle free and looking dapper and the vacuum will be an extension of your arm with me around but the reward of my adoring love for you will sooooo be worth it!! A couple of daily 45 minute walks a day should be enough to keep me happy. With that daily exercise in I can do quite well in town with a yard or in the country. I fall into the 3 G category which is Gorgeous, Gentle and Giant. Instinctively nurturing with the flock or family, we do make great family members. Just make sure the couch is big enough for sharing!!! My breed tend to love being with the family and are content to lay at or on your feet or curled up with you on that big enough couch. I'm here to adopt me a family and since you're reading this you must being missing something special in your life too, could it possibly be...ME?!!

Grits are good for you, ask any Southern mama :) You guessed it, my name is Grits and I have a LOT of determination! I came from the pound with HORRIFIC injuries related to a multiple dog attack :( And boy I was in pain and had horrible infections and was so so skinny and just sad... But the rescue peeps fixed me up! It took several weeks of LOVE, good nutrition, wound care and "heart repair" to return my zest for life and to see the glimmer of hope in my eyes... Now I am all fixed up, healthy and happy and READY for you!! Don't ever let me be out on the streets again, fighting off other dogs to live. He is working on his house and leash training, and can be a little stubborn about getting around on leash. He can be a little shy in new situations.

We have had him for six weeks and he was very shut down when he came to us, but has blossomed into such a sweet and affectionate boy. He is fearful of new people, and warms up to females, but he takes much longer to warm up to men and will need additional training to build trust with men. Butch is an anxious boy who is regularly taking anxiety medication and needs patience and additional training to build his confidence and help him settle in. He is a big hunk of love, weighing in at 88 lbs. He is dog-friendly, we have one resident dog and others have come to play. He is crate and house trained, calm, sweet and attaches quickly to his person. He would prefer to be near you at all times. He's a big fan of stuffed toys, bones and he LOVES cheese. He's pretty respectful of boundaries and gates and has very nice house manners. Butch is not bold but he is loyal. He wants to be loved and a part of the family and after you build initial trust he'll do his best to be brave for you. He is a flight risk, having a fenced in yard will help immensely. If not, be sure to be intentional about double leashing and having a secure hold. He will have training support post adoption from the rescue to help him gain confidence and aid in relationship building with his new family. River is a sweet, but very shy pup. She loves cheddar cheese for treats, and might even be persuaded to take it from your hand. She loves to chew on her Benebone, and maybe any bed or blanket you place in her kennel. She startles at loud noises, so a calm, quieter house would be best for her. She has attempted to peak out to the living room, but startles with my loud resident dogs. She will use a pee pad and will potty outside when she can be persuaded to go outside. She is doing well with being let out around every 3-4 hours. She would need a fenced in yard due to being a flight risk. She is cat friendly and gets along with dogs with a slow introduction. She really is the sweetest girl.
