Story
ADOPTION! MEET COLDEN! Available for Adoption through Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue, Inc. Colden is a 4-yr.-old grey & white, bi-eyed Siberian Husky (with AKC papers). Colden came to DVSHR as an owner surrender when his person moved out of the country. Colden gets along GREAT with other dogs, and would do best in a home with at least one other active canine sibling ... or a passel of kids! He can be a strong player, but is easily corrected by the other dog or his people. Colden loves kids, but with his athletic ability it would be best any children were either older, or already have dog experience. No cats or small animals for this boy. A classic Husky in looks and agility, Colden is very athletic and agile (able to jump a 5’-6’ obstacle from a standing position!) Consequently, a minimum 6’ fence is necessary. Colden loves to talk and is very vocal and expressive, and a secret cuddle bug once he is tired out. Colden is crate-trained, and behaves well in his crate for 4-6 hours at a time. He feels best with another dog around. He is also trained to eat in his crate – not because he has food aggression (he does not), but is a thief with his canine siblings’ meals! Colden will express displeasure and sometimes growl if his bone or food is removed from his possession, but he is not physically reactive at all; just vocal. Quirks? Colden can grumble like a grumpy old man if you give him too much attention, or when you don’t give him enough! Did we mention he is a talker?! Are you Colden’s forever snuggle buddy? Let’s find out! Apply to adopt Colden today! He's been waiting for you. If you are interested in possibly adopting Colden, submit DVSHR’s online Adoption Application here: https://www.siberianhuskyrescue.org/adoption-application Please email us at: info@siberianhuskyrescue.org with questions. View Colden's webpage here: https://www.siberianhuskyrescue.org/colden Adoption Application Requirements: • Veterinary Reference • Personal References – no relatives; not more than one person from same household. • Phone Interview • Home Check Visit Please Understand: • Please allow 5-7 days for a response. • Any missing information will delay your application. • DVSHR evaluates applicants on the best match for each dog; not a first-come, first-served basis. • Placement of each dog is at the discretion of the dog’s foster home. AVAILABLE for ADOPTION! MEET YENNY! This approx. 2-year-old girl is a pretty blue-eyed Husky mix. She came to DVSHR via a shelter. Yenny is still very much a puppy and has a lot of energy. She knows basic commands and walks well on a leash but does get distracted by wildlife and other dogs. She corrects easily most of the time, but her forever home will need to continue her training. Yenny is a wonderful one-on-one dog and she also does well with other dogs. She plays ALL the time, so a family that is at home and can dedicate time to her, or has a canine sibling to match her energy level, will help her. She does love to play rough and can occasionally get aggressive with older dogs, so a younger one would be best. No cats for this girl. When you step out the door for a walk, she can tug at her leash, but will let go when told, “Off” and it is time for a walk. She does jump up on people, but again, corrects easily when you tell her “Off.” Her forever home will need to continue her training. Yenny has not tried to jump fences, but has jumped over a 3 ft baby gate. Yenny will keep a watchful eye on her home and let you know when someone is walking by or is at your door. Yenny has been around children over five years old and has done well with them. Yenny is very affectionate and loving. Her funniest thing? When she is excited, she walks on 2 legs and crosses her paws real fast. Yenny enjoys baths, belly rubs, and playing fetch. She gives "high-fives'' and is adorable when trotting around with her bone in her mouth. Yenny is a wonderful dog who just wants to love and to be loved. She is very loyal and will make a fantastic family pup. Are you possibly her new family?! Apply to adopt Yenny today! Story
MEET DIESEL! Diesel's foster mom says he is such a pleasure to have around. He is lovable and perfectly potty-trained – he has never had an accident in his foster home. He walks well on leash and hardly pulls at all (especially compared to the typical Husky)! Diesel is crate-trained. Helpful, because this cutie patootie is still a puppy and sometimes chews on things he shouldn’t if not supervised. Diesel learns super-fast and is easily redirected from inappropriate chewing to a dog toy. He does not need to be crated at night. He plays very well with his three canine foster siblings (Husky-mixes) and is learning to respect their boundaries. He does best when given an outlet for his energy with interactive toys and exercise – playing ball, running around in the yard and going for walks. Going somewhere? Diesel will jump right in the car and quickly settles down for the ride. This typical Husky is definitely an escape artist. However, he has not tried to jump over or, dig under, his foster family’s 5-foot fence. Having another canine sibling is ideal for Diesel. His foster mom says he would be really sad as an only dog because he loves to play with the other dogs. No cats for Diesel. Children 10 and up are okay. This gorgeous handsome boy is super-happy to just be wherever his humans are. While a little shy when first meeting a new person, once he is comfortable with you, he is a lovebug. It would be best if Diesel’s forever home has someone home most of the day. Diesel has a little separation anxiety exhibited by howling in his crate when left completely alone. It helps very much if he is first walked with his canine sibling. Also, if he is left loose in the room with his canine sibling and not crated, he feels better. Diesel’s foster mom says he is so loving and so worth the puppy effort, being so well-behaved. Could you be the person to enjoy cuddles with Diesel?! He is waiting for you! Apply to adopt Diesel today! Story
Jules is 7 years old turning 8 in Oct. She has all of her shots up to date with proof (rabies tag included). She is a great dog who loves attention, squeaky toys and relaxing. She loves to walk but has not been unleashed. She does not get along with cats and has the natural hunter mentally. She has interacted with medium and small dogs with no issues; however, she appears to be an alpha female. Our kids love her but with our busy schedule (school, work, sports, etc.) it does not work well for her. She is house broken but has gone to the bathroom in the house if left alone for several hours. As stated, our schedule is really busy, and has gotten increasingly busier, which is unfair to her. She needs a youthful person with the energy to match her energy. She walks at least 3 times per day and loves snacks. She has been injured (front left paw); she had medical care completed for the injury (healed). Jules comes with a harness, leash, 40lbs pet food bin, 2 bowls, a brush and poop bags.
