She will bring great happiness to a family. Francis is a 7 month-old cuddle girl. She’s playful, curious, and loves to follow you around the house just to be near you. Hazel already knows how to sit for treats and is doing great with crate training, but doesn’t like to be lonely. She adores snuggling any time of day, lots of time to run, and she gets along wonderfully with kids. She would be happiest in a home that can give her lots of love, patience, and playtime as she continues to grow. She’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and puppy kisses to her new family. All dogs are located in NY/NJ areaAll our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too. Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet. It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Meet Simba! He is almost 3 years old and is a Peagle, which is a beagle and a Pekingese. Some dogs take a really special person (with a lot of dog experience) and Simba is such a dog. Simba has some history of behavior problems, and is looking for his forever home that will love him and help him become the dog he can be. To be very clear : he does have a bite history with his previous family, and is only a candidate for an experienced adopter. He has resource guarding issues that need to be addressed. While he DOES get along with other dogs in casual interactions and loves to play - he will also guard what he believes is “HIS” - his toys, bones, food, bed, crate from other dogs as well as people. We are happy to share that he has had no bites since moving to his current foster home 8 months ago, where proper precautions and an environment was created to work with his issues. Simba does have a senior friend named Denver, he is a beagle mix as well. Denver is a dog's dog and doesn't much care for people, so if you are up to the challenge, Denver would love a home with Simba to call his own, for the time he has left! Simba's new home will be required to have a yard, as well as no children or cats. My name is Dusty! I am 6 to 7 years old and 30 lbs. I am a mature adult that is easy to have around! I am low maintenance, friendly and really enjoying the comforts of a real home. I was found wandering around a college campus in Texas. Prior to that, someone told the rescue I was kept outside and never really got to experience the joys of heat, A/C, a dog bed, safety from animals outside and just some peace and quiet. Since coming here, I have soaked it all up. I am so appreciative of my cushy surroundings that I spend a lot of my day hanging out on my amazing bed, snoozing, looking out the window, sitting next to my humans, asking for pets, grazing on my food and just basking in the comforts of the indoor life. I enjoy short strolls and bird watching. I have no desire to venture far from my new found haven. When I am in "hunting mode," I don't even pull, I just hang out and stare :). I am also housebroken and while I am fine in a crate, I really don't need it! I am dog friendly but I don't need them either. I would be great as an only and probably prefer it now that I have had it. It would be super fun to have my own space and people after all I have endured. We got Miles when he was 3 months old. It has been 6 years since then, and I fear he is no longer happy under our care. Miles lives with my parents and me, and we used to have the time to play and take care of his mental and physical needs. However, now that I am in school and also have a full-time job, it has become challenging to do so. Recently, my parents decided to take in a stray, which is all good and well. However, Miles does not get along with other dogs, so not only do we not have time for Miles, but they've also taken on another dog, and the situation hasn't. The two dogs have to be separated from each other on a small leash, and it is just a miserable scenario for all parties involved. I love Miles more than anything, and I would have loved to keep him but my parents refuse to give up the other dog, and I love Miles enough to know that this is far from what he deserves.
