WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Winston is 3.5 years old and weighs about 37 lbs. He was a street dog simply trying to survive, navigating a world where every day meant searching for food, avoiding cars, dodging poison, and staying away from people who aren’t always kind to stray dogs. On top of that, Winston was repeatedly bullied by a large owned dog in the area that was often allowed to roam off leash. One of those attacks left him with a broken leg. We got Winston the help he needed, and his leg was repaired. It has healed well, though he does still have a slight limp right now. The vet expects him to make a full recovery within the next 2–3 months. After everything he went through, returning him to the same streets was not an option. He deserved better, so Winston was brought to safety. And despite all of it, he is incredibly sweet. Winston is gentle with people, not dog aggressive, and currently lives with other dogs in the shelter without any issues. He has every reason not to trust the world—but he still does. This little girl is named Penny and she is one very lucky penny indeed to be coming to Eleventh Hour Rescue! She comes from a situation in a rural area which is overcrowded with dogs and where there isn't enough food for them to eat. Bunny is a 9-year-old, 35 lb affectionate sweetheart who was surrendered to the shelter with two other dogs when her owner could no longer care for them. Despite the change in her life, Bunny has remained an incredibly easygoing and loving girl who simply wants to be close to her person. She is a wonderful companion with a calm, gentle personality. Bunny is very house trained and can easily hold it through the night. She is crate trained but has proven to be completely trustworthy when left out, as she doesn’t touch anything in the home. She is also the easiest dog to walk on a leash and will happily stroll along for as long as you’d like. Bunny loves kids and has done very well with the small dogs she has met and enjoys just peacefully coexisting. She still has plenty of spunk in her — she easily goes up and down a tall wooden staircase and enjoys getting around just fine. She also enjoys stuffed toys and being outside. Sadly, Bunny was recently diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma but is still maintaining well and will return for bloodwork in the next few months to determine her ultimate prognosis. What Bunny is looking for is an understanding and empathetic family to see her through this diagnosis and to know showering her with unconditional love and happiness no matter what during this time is the true treatment. She is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccines, and she is ready to find a loving home where she can spend her golden years being the loyal, easy companion she truly is. He is affectionate, crate trained, enjoys toys and playing fetch, walks nicely on leash and enjoys car rides. Cooper was raised in one home since he was a puppy. His life there was very stressful, which led to him being fearful of loud noises. He will need a quiet environment with someone who will give him time and space to feel comfortable in his new surroundings. Cooper is neutered, current on his shots, microchipped, loving, warm and friendly.
