Story
Sweet Opal was found in February 2021 with her babies. She was completely feral and seemed like she had never had human contact. She went to a foster home where she got to spend time with her babies until they were ready to be adopted. As soon as she was ready, she was brought to our facility where she would be in contact with more people and start socializing and trusting people. It has taken several months but the staff and volunteers can walk her on a leash a little bit more each day. Her friend Huey gives her more confidence. She would do good in a home where she can come and have her space and take her time to warm up. She will shy away and but does not get aggressive at all. That`s the reason we want her to make a smooth transition when finding her forever home. Opal would do great with a doggie sibling that could teach her to accept love and learn to be a happy trusting dog. We love her at the rescue and hope she finds that family to love and trust. Opal is believed to be between 2 and 3 years old. She is spayed and up to date on shots.Included with adoption: Age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, microchip with registration, and spayed or neutered- if not already, a voucher is provided. If you are interested in adopting, please complete our Pre-application: https://form.jotform.us/asr628/ShortAdoptionInquiry

Story
Kiwi is a super playful and smart girl. She even plays gently with smaller creatures like cats and rabbits. She is potty trained and has caught on quickly to simple commands like Sit and Stay. Kiwi is shy at first but quickly warms up. She was born 6/29/2019We got Kiwi & Peaches from the shelter as itty bitty pups, and soon found out that both of them had CHV (Canine Herpesvirus). Most puppies die at 2 weeks from this, however these two were fighters and besides runny noses here and there, are doing really well. They can have it the rest of their lifes and will be sick from time to time and because there is just not a lot documented on situations like this we have no idea what their future health could be. They should never be around puppies or attend public places or events.Included with adoption: Age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, microchip with registration, and spayed or neutered- if not already, a voucher is provided. Story
Dear Future Valentine, Hi. My name is Lulu, and I wanted to let you know… I’m kind of the whole package. 💃 I’m a Border Collie mix with a brave heart. I'm super smart and loyal. I love adventure...long walks, running around the yard, chasing squirrels (they’re suspicious), and going for car rides. I’m playful and agile, but I also know how to relax and enjoy quiet time at home. 🏠 I already have my manners down. I’m crate-trained, housebroken, walk nicely on leash, and know my basic commands. I’m respectful with other dogs at mealtime, friendly with dogs, gentle with cats, and great with kids. Basically, I’m pretty easy to love. 😍 I enjoy affection, but I’m not clingy...I love just being near you, checking in, sharing space, and knowing we’re a team. I’ll protect our yard, keep an eye on things, and still curl up contentedly after a good day of play and exploration. 😴 My perfect Valentine has a sense of adventure too - maybe other dogs to play with, a yard to run in, or someone who loves walks and outings as much as I do. Give me activity, companionship, and love, and I’ll give you loyalty, laughter, and my whole heart. 💞 My foster family says I’m “perfect.” I think they might be right — and I think I might be perfect for you. Love, Lulu 🐾 ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://iamdogrescue.org/adoption-application/ ***IMPORTANT- PLEASE READ*** Our adoption fee is $175. We require an application to be completed prior to setting up a meet-and-greet. We do not offer "on-the-spot" adoptions. We do not adopt on a first-come, first-served basis. We do our best to match dogs with families that will be a good fit to help ensure a successful adoption. We reserve the right to decline any application for any reason. Due to the nature of our adoption process, our fosters are usually only able to consider forever families within a reasonable driving distance of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. A vet reference is required, and a trial period will be completed before finalizing the adoption. Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Firu is a sweet boy who loves his snuggles and his people. He is a 7 year old border collie mix. We found him on the side of the road in Austin when he was around 11 months old, and we could not locate his previous owners. He can get along with other dogs after a very slow introduction but displays food aggression, so he would be better suited as an only pet. He is extremely food motivated and smart. He can figure out all the lever door handles. He likes to run in the yard and hang out with his people. We are so sad to have to rehome our pup after 7 years, but unfortunately, he needs a family without children as he has bite history when they have gotten in his face. While he can still see, Firu does have some visual impairment especially in low light or dark spaces. He would be great company for a calm, child-free home as he is a people dog that listens well and likes to be in close proximity to his owners.

Story
Coming soon! Kit Kat lived as a stray for the first 5 months of her life. Because of that, she is very undersocialized and timid, but she is a sweet pup who just needs patience and a chance to learn that people aren't so bad. She is currently working on socialization so that she can be a wonderful companion. ##2637346##

Story
Meet Genie Genie is a 9-year-old, 60 lb Heeler mix looking for a special home that appreciates smart, quirky, loyal dogs. This girl is full of personality and incredibly intelligent — she knows an impressive number of commands including sit, stay, lay down, shake, roll over, and more. She loves engaging with her person and would make an amazing companion for someone who enjoys a clever, interactive dog. Genie loves long walks, outdoor adventures, rolling in the grass, squeaky toys, sticks, and cozy snuggles. She’s also a big fan of treats and “cheese runs” to Buc-ee’s. Despite her active side, she’s a total cuddle bug who always wants to be close to her person. She would thrive in an adult-only home as the only dog, though she may coexist with a calm cat. She is not a fit for homes with children or small animals. Genie can be sensitive and likes her boundaries respected, so she needs a patient, confident adopter who understands independent dogs and will let her settle in at her own pace. In return, she forms a deep bond and is incredibly loyal. Why you’ll love Genie:• Very smart and highly trained• Potty trained and crate trained• Walks well on leash• Affectionate and loves to snuggle• Great hiking and adventure buddy• Full of funny quirks and personality Genie is hoping to find the person who sees how special she is — and when she bonds with you, she’ll be an incredibly devoted best friend.
