Story
Ziegler (Ziggy) is a sweet, curious guy who loves being wherever his people are. True to his Shepherd side, he enjoys keeping you company and will happily follow you from room to room just to be part of the action. He does great free-roaming the house when his fosters are out, but he can also settle nicely in his kennel after about 10 minutes if needed. Ziggy absolutely loves being outside—walks, playtime, and exploring are some of his favorite things. Because of how much he enjoys being outdoors, a fenced yard is a must for him. Ziggy gets along best with female dogs and would be happy to have a canine buddy to play with. However, he cannot live with cats. He would do best with kids 4 and up. Ziggy is a friendly, enthusiastic boy who sometimes forgets how big he is when he gets excited, but his heart is always in the right place. His fosters have started working on training and manners with him, and he’s been doing well! His future family should be ready to keep building on that progress—either continuing training at home or working with a trainer to help him become the best boy he can be. When the day winds down, Ziggy’s favorite place is right next to you (or on you). He’s convinced he’s a 72-lb lap dog and loves nothing more than a good snuggle. If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who’s equal parts adventure buddy, playmate, and cuddle companion, Ziggy might be your guy. Adoption fee is $450+tax, please apply at www.campcompanion.org

Meet Kia, a GORGEOUS young gal who is smart, affectionate, and loving everything life has to offer- cuddles, toys, and belly rubs! Kia is potty trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands. She's very loyal and affectionate, and she loves to snuggle—personal space not included with this gal! She plays well with other dogs after a proper introduction, but would also be happy as your one-and-only. No cats or small animals though! Kia would thrive in an active home with a fenced in yard or a household that likes to adventure before a good round of naps and cuddles. Story
My name is Jewel and my Mom just started a new job as a traveling nurse. Mom really wants me to get the attention that I deserve. Between being in a nursing program for schooling, and traveling for work she wants to find a new home where I can get lots of Love. I have been raised with cats and dogs and like them all. My gentle character fits well with everyone. I Love attention, but also ok just hanging out while Mom does homework. I like going for hikes and meeting new people and animals. Hope you can be my new best friend.

Story
Meet Vivi! Vivi was found as a stray and ended up in animal control before coming to rescue. She is estimated to be around 10 years old, but she definitely didn’t get the memo—Vivi has plenty of energy and a tail that seems to wag nonstop. She’s a happy, curious girl who loves to be part of the action. If something moves, Vivi wants to check it out! She enjoys playing and still has a fun, youthful spirit. Vivi is a smart girl who knows “sit” and understands “no.” She appears eager to please and is learning that calm behavior earns attention and pets. She is also very good motivated. 😉 She’s quiet in her kennel, keeps it clean, and has not been destructive in her foster home. After a couple of initial accidents (normal when adjusting to a new home), she’s doing well going potty outside. She LOVES walks and belly rubs!! Vivi has met the resident dog in her foster home and did fine, but she can be a little enthusiastic and barky and is still learning doggy boundaries. Because of this, she will need slow introductions with other dogs. Vivi can also be a little sneaky around doors, so adopters will need to be careful when coming and going. She should not be off leash unless in a securely fenced area, as she does enjoy running. She is not a fan of small squeaky fast-moving kids but older kids are ok. Vivi is not a fan of apartments and wants to protect her owner so will bark at strangers. A house with a fenced yard is best for Vivi. If you think Vivi might be the right fit for your home, please apply at www.campcompanion.org. Her adoption fee is $450 plus tax

Story
Meet Glenda and Lucky! These girls are 14 year old sweet hearts. Glenda (white/brown) weighs 11.30lbs and is a Jack Terrier Mix, Lucky (brown) weighs 16.96lbs and is a Doxie mix.Lucky and Glenda came to SDR after they had been left alone for 6 months with someone coming in to feed them once a day. Both girls were in rough shape. Both had lost a lot of hair and had bald patches . Lucky’s toe nails were so long that they curled into the pads of her feet. Every step was painful. Understandably both girls are very timid and apprehensive with new people. Lucky warmed up to her foster mom within a couple weeks and Glenda has warmed up, but is very scared of new people. Both spend most of their day sleeping. Both are potty pad trained. They need to stay together as they are bonded. Glenda likes to take care of Lucky, licking her ears or face. They need a calm household with not a lot of people going in or out. They get along great with other dogs but Glenda will chase cats. Our vet recommends that Lucky stay on a prescription low-fat diet for the remainder of her life. Her values have not completely normalized, so they believe she is going to bea chronic low-grade pancreatitis patient for the rest of her life. This means that the next owners will have to be very strict about not giving fatty items as treats. Ideally, just fresh fruits and veggies. Lucky had a dental cleaning with extractions and senior bloodwork while in SDR care. Glenda also had a dental cleaning with extractions and senior bloodwork while in SDR care.Glenda and Lucky's adoption fee is $500 + MN sales tax- You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website: https://smalldogsminnesota.org/adoption-application/- Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philosophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, it must be charged.- Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you.- You must be 18 years of age to make an adoption request.- A healthy pet is a happy pet! Story
Meet Rubin — a tiny 7.7-pound Chihuahua with the cutest little butt wiggle you’ve ever seen. The second he spots you, his whole back end starts wiggling like he just won the lottery. It’s impossible not to smile when you see him coming your way. Rubin came from a breeder situation, so he can still play a little hard to get at first. He likes to make sure you’re trustworthy before fully giving away his heart. But once he settles in, he absolutely loves couch time and cuddling up with his people. He’s currently learning all the important pet dog skills — stairs are a brand-new adventure, and he’s getting pretty proud of himself for mastering them. He’s also learning to walk on a leash and doing well with potty training as long as he stays on a consistent schedule. Rubin recently got neutered and had a full dental cleaning, so his pearly whites are all fresh and sparkling. He does great with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine friend around. Because he can be shy, he may need a little patience around children. If you’re looking for a tiny companion with adorable wiggles, a sweet personality, and a soft spot for couch cuddles, Rubin might just be your perfect match. Adoption fee: $450 + tax.
