You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sprout (female) is 1 of 9 puppies born at the shelter on September 8th to mother dog Lenore, who appears to be a hound mix. We do not know the father's identity, but we're wondering if the puppies could be mixed with lab or golden retriever, just going by the appearances of some of them. We do expect these puppies to be fairly large dogs at maturity. Sprout will be ready for a new home around the middle of November, after she has had her 2nd of 3 distemper/parvo vaccinations. Her basic vet work will be scheduled with her adopter and must be done WITH one of our vet partners. This includes her 3rd distemper/parvo vaccination, and, when she is old enough, her rabies shot and spay surgery. All of this is covered by us under the adoption fee of $150. Puppies require a whole lot of time, patience, and training. They are looking for secure, committed homes, ready to keep them for the entirety of their lives. It's not always an easy journey. Sprout and her siblings should do well with other dogs, and they are all young enough to learn to interact appropriately with cats. Very young children might not be suitable as the pups develop manners and learn not to nip and chew. They need homes in which they won't be alone for long hours. NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tula originally arrived at our shelter from the city pound on Dec. 1, 2024. She was adopted soon after and has lived in that home for almost 2 years. Her family dynamic has changed, and Tula has been facing some adjustment issues. Because of this, she is now looking for a new home in which she can be the only dog. Tula is now around 3 years old and weighs close to 80 pounds. Her DNA test showed that mastiff is her main breed, but she also mixed with many others like lab and German shepherd. Tula has been fully vetted, is microchipped, and her fee is $150. Tula is currently staying with her adopters while she waits for a new home. Tula absolutely adores people and is happy and loving. She truly wants to be the center of someone's world and willingly makes her people the center of hers. She has had some basic training. She does pretty well on leash and will need a lot of regular exercise. She's a strong girl who thinks of herself as a lap dog. She's up for any adventure! Tula has done well with all the people that she meets. She has done okay with well mannered male dogs but really would prefer to be the only pet in the home. Smaller animals are a no for her. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Emmett arrived from the city pound on 7/12/2025, making him another long-term resident. He was taken to the pound after being found tied to a table at a local park. He is approximately 3 years old and his genetic makeup is truly a mystery. There could be hound, shepherd, lab, or even herding breeds. Confusing us even more about his breed mix, he also has prominent double dewclaws on his hind feet. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Emmett is a bit unsure of himself and can be quite shy at first, so he will need plenty of time and patience. He has shown that he has the potential to be a loving, goofy dog. He will need regular exercise and basic training in all areas, including housetraining. However, we think he has the potential to be a fun companion. He does appear to be okay with other dogs. We don't know about cats at all and we're thinking an adult only home would be best. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ares arrived on 6/17/2025 as a transfer from one of our rescue friends, so he has passed his one year anniversary at the shelter. He's a big, handsome, stocky dude with a large capacity to have fun. He's around 6 years old and appears to be a shepherd mix of some type. There could be quite a few large breeds for dog in there, like boxer, pit bull, and mastiff. He has been fully vetted and microchipped and his fee is $125. Ares is a large, strong guy who would prefer to be the only pet in the home. He is pretty well mannered. He would love to be with someone who can give him the good exercise he needs. He's also pretty content to chill out on a couch with someone after playtime. He loves to play and is a big fan of playing tug with a strong rope toy. He's also very neat and keeps his kennel spotless. He's fairly easygoing and doesn't demand a lot.
