Story
Rip was found abandoned and we agreed to take him about a year ago. We believe he is almost 2 years old. He’s anxious around new people and animals but can quickly adjust and get along with all. He’s loyal and protective but really needs lots of activity or a lot of land to roam to get out his energy and herding tendencies.

Story
Dawn (who knows the name Lucy) is a sweet girl. She was adopted back in 2016, but her owner could no longer care for her due to divorce and change of job. While in the home, she became very attached to the children and would not leave their side. She was accustomed to being groomed and having her nails trimmed. She loves to be wherever the people are and would prefer a home where she is not alone too often. She really wants a home where she can be an indoor dog, but with outdoor playtime. She is scared of big dogs but loves small dogs and is very protective of them. She mostly likes to sleep near our desks when she's in the office, but she's surprisingly spry for such an old lady! She easily escapes from playpens here at the shelter, but when she does she only wants to come back inside. She's a very loyal and laid-back little girl who deserves to spend her golden years getting pampered in a home!D.O.B 2-11-11 Weight 47 lbsAll of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. Story
Yosemite Sam is an incredibly sweet dog to all the people he meets. He gets along well with children of all ages and dogs of all sizes. He has only ever known outdoor life, so he will need some help in house-training! Yosemite Sam tried the hardworking life of a ranch dog, but farm animals really kick in his prey drive. What he really wants is to live the spoiled life of an indoor dog! We recommend a home with a tall fence to prevent Sam from being tempted to chase cars. His estimated DOB is 6/15/2017 and he weighs about 60lbs.All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. Story
If you're looking for a dog that loves children, Draco is perfect! Just meeting children makes him a happy boy. He gets along with other dogs as well, provided there is a good introduction. One thing Draco does not like is cats! He is housetrained and knows how to use a doggie door. He walks very well on a leash as well! Draco would make an amazing family pet. He loves playtime with kids, adults, and other dogs, but he's also very good at keeping himself busy with chew toys (know that he is a stuffie shredder!) Despite his size, he's good at keeping in a little corner to chill out where he won't take up much space. He seems very self-aware in regards to his size. DOB 8/15/2015 weighs about 70 poundsAll of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. Story
Laker (who knows the names Mia or Gracie) was adopted from the Haven but returned two years later, not due to any fault of her own, but because her owners were unprepared to train a dog with resource insecurity. You see, Laker gets along with other dogs fairly well, but she really needs her own space away from other dogs in her home, as she's protective of food, toys, and her bed. She'd do best with a free feeder so she can learn that food is not a limited resource. Laker also did excellent with the kids in her previous home and hasn't had any reaction to cats at the shelter! Her ideal forever home will be able to work around her quirks and provide her with her own space, such as a kennel in a separate room, or ideally not have any other dogs! We at the Haven know that this affectionate, loyal girl is absolutely worth it! Her estimated DOB is 12/30/17 and she weighs about 93lbs.All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. Story
Bubba Lee is looking for a special person to call his own. His ideal home is one where he will get to be loyal to his person, without other pets and children. It's not that he can't handle short interactions, as long as an experienced dog person is holding his leash, its just that he prefers his space from other pets for day to day life. Bubba Lee is a heeler/rottie mix and appears to be used to staying outside. He takes a little while to warm up to new people, but he comes around quickly with treats and soft baby talking and going for walks. Bubba will show resource guarding behaviors around food, and will need to be fed separately from other dogs. It seems someone must have hurt him before he came to the Haven, because he really does not like to be startled. Bubba is really one of those dogs that seems grumpy and mean to strangers in his kennel, but secretly he's a big cuddle bug! He just needs time to acclimate to a new environment at his own pace, and we're sure he'd make an amazing pet! Weighs about 42 pounds and his estimated DOB 4/15/2018All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week.
