Story
Freyja is a sweet dog who just wants to be loved! She loves pets and getting belly rubs! We are sad to have to let her go, but she does not understand her size and has knocked over our 1 year old several times and we have another baby on the way. It’s time to find her a more suitable family and home. She is a pure bred Dane, she has had training and is house trained, she is on a schedule for her potty breaks though. We have certificates if needed. Ask any questions you have, thanks!

Story
My name is Rogue. Not long ago, I was found out there roaming with another dog. People in the area kept seeing us in the same place for weeks, and believe we were likely abandoned there together. We stayed close to that area the whole time, trying to figure things out on our own. The staff here still say they don’t know how we managed to keep ourselves fed or find places to shelter, especially during the freezing cold nights we had while we were out there. Many people tried to help us for nearly two weeks, but we were scared and didn’t know who to trust, so we kept our distance even though we really needed someone.During that time, something happened that I’ll probably never forget. My friend was hit by a car and passed over the Rainbow Bridge. After witnessing that, I just shut down. I was exhausted, confused, and didn’t really have much fight left in me. Thankfully, not long after, someone was finally able to safely bring me here to FDHS, and that’s when things slowly started to change for the better. The people here have been patient and gentle with me. They gave me a warm place to rest, steady meals, and the time I needed to start feeling safe again. As I’ve settled in, they’ve learned that underneath everything I went through, I’m actually a very sweet boy who likes being around people who care. They also noticed that I’m already neutered, which means that at some point in my life I belonged to someone and was cared for. Now I’m surrounded by people who truly want the best for me and are committed to giving me a good life while I wait for the person who’s meant to be mine. I’ve been through a lot, but I’m safe now, and for the first time in a while, I feel hopeful about what comes next.

Story
Little Apollo came to FDHS as a stray alongside his bestie Artemis. He’s estimated to be around 6 years old and we are guessing him to be a Poodle mix with a whole lot of personality packed into a very small frame.Apollo might be a little guy, but he fully believes he is “large and in charge.” He’s got big feelings, a little bit of sass, and absolutely no awareness of how small he actually is. He carries himself like he runs the place, even if he could be mistaken for a well-loved stuffed animal.Once he’s comfortable, Apollo is social and engaging, with a confident streak that comes out more and more as he settles in. New people and situations can take him a moment to warm up to, but he adjusts with time and consistency. He does well on leash and enjoys getting out for strolls at his own pace. He would prefer a low-traffic, calm home with a cozy spot where he can keep an eye on everything.Apollo would love to be adopted with Artemis, since they came in together and definitely seem to bring each other comfort. However, he could also do well on his own as long as he has a patient home that understands his spicy little “boss dog” personality.

Story
This handsome guy is Togo! He’s a big, beautiful German Shepherd with the most beautiful eyes and a quieter, more reserved personality. Togo recently came to FDHS with his friend Lulu (also available!) after their previous owner could no longer care for them. Togo is still settling in, but so far he’s been very gentle and well-mannered with our staff. He may not be the first one to rush up for attention, but once he feels comfortable, you can tell he really enjoys being near his people. We were told that in his previous home, Togo formed very strong bonds with his family and tended to act like a shadow, happily following them around and staying close by. He seems like the kind of dog who will be incredibly loyal to the people he trusts.Since he’s still new here, we’re continuing to learn more about him each day. But if you’re looking for a devoted companion who will stick by your side, Togo just might be your guy.

Story
Say hello to Wednesday!Wednesday has spent the last several weeks in a wonderful foster home, getting taste of the good life outside of the shelter. Thanks to her foster family, we’ve been able to learn so much more about the kind of companion she is in a home environment.According to her foster family, Wednesday is an excellent house guest and earns a perfect score when it comes to potty training. She has not had a single accident and does great using their fenced yard. She especially enjoys spending time outside and has been taking full advantage of the warmer weather. At mealtimes, Wednesday has shown that she prefers to graze rather than eat all at once. She enjoys having a little wet food mixed in with her dry food and will happily pick at her meals throughout the day at her own pace.Wednesday also appreciates having a cozy space to call her own. Her crate, complete with a big comfortable dog bed, has become one of her favorite spots to relax. It serves as her safe space where she can unwind. If she isn’t in her crate at night, you can often find her curled up on the couch. She is non-destructive and does well being left out overnight. One of Wednesday’s favorite parts of the day is her daily walk. She gets very excited when it’s time to head out and may try to rush out the door in her enthusiasm, so a secure hold on her leash is important. Once the initial excitement settles, she relaxes and enjoys the walk.Wednesday is a dog who prefers a quieter lifestyle. She would do best in a home without young children or very rambunctious dogs. She is a calm, sweet girl who is not afraid to communicate her boundaries and would thrive in a home that respects her need for a peaceful environment. While Wednesday has been enjoying her time in foster care, she is still searching for a permanent home to call her own. She has proven herself to be a wonderful companion and is ready to settle into a home where she can feel safe, comfortable, and loved for years to come.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 50 lbs**
