Story
This sweet soul is our pretty girl, Pearl. Pearl recently came to us as a stray in rough shape. Her coat was stained, her skin was irritated, and her nails had grown so long that they were affecting the way she stood and walked. It was clear that this gentle girl had been living with a lot of discomfort for quite some time. Sadly, no one came forward to claim her.Thankfully, Pearl’s difficult days are behind her, and we’re determined to make sure her future is filled with comfort, love, and care.Pearl appears to be an older girl with a calm, easygoing personality. She has been super sweet with her caregivers and enjoys spending her days exploring our fenced yard. She’s kept a clean kennel, walks beautifully on leash, and seems content soaking up the sunshine and attention. So far, Pearl has been pretty indifferent to the other dogs at the shelter and would likely do well with another relaxed canine companion. She has not yet been introduced to cats. As always, slow and proper introductions are a must with any new furry family members.Pearl is ready for soft beds, gentle belly rubs, and a home where she’ll never have to worry again. She is available for immediate adoption.

Story
Say hello to Wednesday!Wednesday has spent the last several weeks in a wonderful foster home, getting taste of the good life outside of the shelter. Thanks to her foster family, we’ve been able to learn so much more about the kind of companion she is in a home environment.According to her foster family, Wednesday is an excellent house guest and earns a perfect score when it comes to potty training. She has not had a single accident and does great using their fenced yard. She especially enjoys spending time outside and has been taking full advantage of the warmer weather. At mealtimes, Wednesday has shown that she prefers to graze rather than eat all at once. She enjoys having a little wet food mixed in with her dry food and will happily pick at her meals throughout the day at her own pace.Wednesday also appreciates having a cozy space to call her own. Her crate, complete with a big comfortable dog bed, has become one of her favorite spots to relax. It serves as her safe space where she can unwind. If she isn’t in her crate at night, you can often find her curled up on the couch. She is non-destructive and does well being left out overnight. One of Wednesday’s favorite parts of the day is her daily walk. She gets very excited when it’s time to head out and may try to rush out the door in her enthusiasm, so a secure hold on her leash is important. Once the initial excitement settles, she relaxes and enjoys the walk.Wednesday is a dog who prefers a quieter lifestyle. She would do best in a home without young children or very rambunctious dogs. She is a calm, sweet girl who is not afraid to communicate her boundaries and would thrive in a home that respects her need for a peaceful environment. While Wednesday has been enjoying her time in foster care, she is still searching for a permanent home to call her own. She has proven herself to be a wonderful companion and is ready to settle into a home where she can feel safe, comfortable, and loved for years to come.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Story
It’s Britney!Britney is a gorgeous white dog and a natural born star who brings full pop-princess energy everywhere she goes. She lives for the spotlight, loves an audience, and isn’t shy about singing her heart out. She might not be everyone’s ideal playlist, but her bold spirit and big personality are destined to be someone’s dream dog. She’s an energetic, happy girl who thinks every person she meets is a new fan. Britney isn’t the best match for homes with small children or cats, but she does well with dogs who can keep up with her high energy and performance level. She also struggles a bit with being left alone and isn’t a fan of crates, so she’s hoping for a home where she doesn’t have to spend much time offstage. If you’re ready for a fun loving diva with a heart of gold, Britney is more than ready to take center stage in her forever home.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Story
This pretty girl is Minestrone. Minnie, for short. She’s a brand new face at FDHS, and her story is a heavy one.Minnie, her puppies, and her friend Pho were found abandoned at Independence Dam State Park. It’s obvious that months of neglect had taken their toll on this little family. Their skin and coats were painfully damaged. They were uncomfortable, worn down, and in need of some serious help. Minnie was in the worst shape of them all. Her skin was severely inflamed. Patches of fur were missing. Scabs covered her scrawny body from constant itching. And when she first arrived, she carried the saddest expression. Since coming into our care, she has made such an improvement! With medication, gentle hands, and a clean place to rest, Minnie is already beginning to heal. Her body is improving, but it’s her spirit that stands out the most. She is a gentle soul with the kindest eyes. A little timid at first, but once she feels safe, she leans in for love like she’s been waiting for it her whole life. Minestrone keeps her kennel spotless. She walks nicely on leash. She has been nothing but gentle with staff and seems friendly with other animals. Despite everything she has endured, Minnie remains sweet, and trusting. She still has healing to do, but she is on the right path. And now, she’s ready for the next chapter. Minestrone is officially accepting applications for her happily ever after.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 50 lbs**

Story
Hi friends, I’m Mr. Bean! I recently found my way back to FDHS through no fault of my own. I was very loved in my previous home, so I’ll admit, I’m a little sad to be back at the shelter. The good news? Everyone keeps telling me I’m such a good boy that I shouldn’t have to wait long for a new family!I’m more of a couch potato than an athlete. My favorite hobby is snuggling up next to my people and binge-watching Netflix while soaking up all the cuddles. I’m house-trained, do great in or out of a crate, and have excellent manners if I do say so myself.I’m used to being a solo pet, but I seem pretty open to making some new animal friends, as long as they’re more into relaxing than running marathons. If you’re looking for an easygoing guy who loves good company, cozy evenings, and positive vibes, I think we’d get along just fine. Come meet me soon! **Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 70 lbs**

Story
Anubis is a big, scruffy Doodle on the hunt for his forever home! This guy recently came to us after being surrendered alongside his buddy Abu (also available!), through no fault of their own. He’s really sweet, but he does need a little time to warm up to new people. After spending his whole life in a home since puppyhood, the shelter has been a big adjustment for him. That said, once he trusts you, he will literally be your biggest fan. He’s even made his best friend in our Animal Care Director, and in general seems to open up more quickly with men.Food is absolutely the key to his heart. Anubis is highly treat motivated and loves a good snack session. We’re working on leash skills day by day, and he’s proving to be a quick learner with the right encouragement. This boy has so much potential and is just waiting for the right person to help him become the best dog he can be. He’s now accepting applications for his perfect match.**Neutered, scheduled to be microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs 82 lbs**
