Story
Meet Pearl!Pearl is an older gal who showed up as a “stray” on Pearl Street back at the end of May. Shortly after arriving at FDHS, we discovered that Pearl had a mass, and suddenly this sweet senior had a whole lot of unknowns ahead of her. Thankfully, Pearl had an incredible team in her corner. She got to spend some time with our Shelter Manager while we waited on diagnostics and figured out what she needed next.We soon learned that Pearl had a cancerous mass on her spleen, so we wasted no time scheduling her for a splenectomy. Pearl had an amazing team of doctors and nurses caring for her, and she was blessed with a fantastic surgery and recovery. Once she was ready, she headed into foster care with one of our wonderful foster moms, where she has been living her absolute BEST life ever since.According to her foster mom, Pearl is basically a mini polar bear. She is fluffy, completely adorable and takes her job as a professional hibernator VERY seriously. Her ideal day consists of finding the coziest spot on the couch, snuggling up with her favorite blanket and binge watching whatever show you have on. She is a very low-key girl who doesn't need much to be happy. Give her a soft place to snooze, some love and a peaceful home, and Pearl is one happy lady.Pearl loves getting to explore freely in a fenced yard, but she is also a well mannered walking buddy. Now, we should warn you that Pearl does have a stubborn streak. When Pearl decides she is done walking, she is DONE walking. When Pearl decides she would like to go somewhere else, she has no problem expressing her opinion. She has perfected the art of politely reminding you that she is, in fact, her own lady. And we can't help but respect it.Miss Pearl is looking for the perfect retirement home where she can finally enjoy the quiet life. She would love a peaceful family who appreciates a slower pace and is perfectly content to spend her days relaxing by your side. After everything Pearl has been through, she deserves nothing less than the very best. And thanks to an incredibly generous animal loving donor, Pearl's adoption fee has been COMPLETELY SPONSORED! Her bags are packed and her retirement home is out there. Now we just need to find it.**Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs 42 lbs**

Story
Allow me to introduce myself… I’m Bobby. Professional goofball, certified beefcake, and full time good boy.I ended up at FDHS after I was found as a stray with a pretty nasty case of flea dermatitis. My skin was itchy, raw, and definitely not looking so hot. Thankfully, everyone here has been helping me feel so much better! Nobody ever came looking for me, but that’s okay. I’m choosing to believe my "real" family just hasn’t found me yet.The humans keep telling me I’m the happiest guy around, and I can’t argue with that. I love people, I love attention, and I love making everyone laugh with my silliness. I’ve been pretty chill with most of the other dogs here, although some of the other boys and I don’t always see eye to eye. Slow introductions are the way to go if you already have a pup at home.A couple things you should know about me: I’m built like a linebacker, my tail has the power to clear a coffee table in one swipe, and I’m still figuring out this whole “walking politely on a leash” thing. The good news? I keep my kennel nice and tidy, so everyone here thinks I’m probably housebroken. If I sound like your kind of guy, please fill out an adoption application to come meet me!**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 65 lbs**

Story
Meet Cubone, our big hunky chunk of an American Bulldog! Cubone recently arrived at FDHS with his mama, Nova, who is also available for adoption. These two were surrendered through no fault of their own, and while Cubone may look like a big tough guy, he is actually just a giant chicken. Shelter life has been a little overwhelming for this big boy, and he can be nervous when meeting new people or experiencing unfamiliar surroundings. Give him a little patience, a soft voice, and a tasty treat, and you'll start to see him come out of his shell. Once he's comfortable, he's an absolute sweetheart. And thanks to those signature Bulldog pouty lips, his face is pretty much impossible to resist.Despite being a HUGE dog, Cubone is surprisingly gentle on leash and really enjoys getting one on one time away from the busy shelter environment. We were told he's lived with kids and other animals, and that he's house trained. He's also kept an immaculate kennel here at FDHS, which is always a very good sign!Cubone is a giant marshmallow disguised in a Bulldog body. He needs someone willing to give him the time and patience to show them what a wonderful boy he really is.**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs 101 lbs**

Story
Hi friends, I’m Resi!I would like to begin by saying that I am VERY busy. There are things to sniff. Things to investigate. Things to learn. People to impress. And, most importantly, WATER. I have places to be and splashing to do. I am a high energy, goofy little chaos gremlin and a firm believer that life is best lived at approximately 110% at all times. The staff here love me, because I am the best. I came to FDHS a few months ago after my family’s home burned down and they had nowhere else for me to go. Before that, I spent most of my life living on a tie out next to railroad tracks. When I first arrived, I was kind of a hot mess. I had not exactly been given much opportunity to learn how to be a well rounded dog, so I needed some help with my manners and figuring out this whole “being a gentleman” thing. Luckily, I’ve had some pretty great people in my corner and I’ve made a LOT of progress. Now, let’s discuss my greatest passion: WATER. I LOVE WATER. I want to swim in it, splash in it, investigate it, and wallop around in it all day. I am convinced I was a mermaid in a previous life and I would like to return to my aquatic roots. I’m also interested in making some animal friends! I’ve been friendly with other dogs through the kennel and have shown interest in playing. I’m polite but curious around the cats in the catio, too. New people are a little more complicated. I didn’t get much practice with them growing up, so I can be shy and standoffish until I decide you are one of the good ones. Treats help tremendously. In fact, I am willing to reconsider almost any opinion in exchange for snacks.I do have some things my future family will need to understand. I LOVE food. Perhaps a little too much. I can gobble down my meals and have been known to resource guard my food bowl and high value treats. I do great with a slow feeder and prefer to enjoy my meals peacefully in my kennel. My future family will need to respect my boundaries around food and continue helping me build confidence and trust.I’m looking for an active family who understands my breed, enjoys a dog with a little extra horsepower and is ready to keep teaching me. I’ve been through some really hard things, but I have a LOT of life left to live, and I’m hoping my forever family is out there ready to keep up!**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Story
Say hello to Nova! Nova is a beautiful American Bulldog who recently arrived at FDHS with her son Cubone (also available) through no fault of their own.Mama Nova is calm, independent, and very well mannered. She enjoys spending time with her people and getting some attention, but she doesn't need to be glued to your side every second. She's perfectly happy hanging out nearby and enjoying some quiet time, too. She's been wonderful with our staff and has been a great girl all around. We were told Nova has experience living with kids and other animals, and so far, she's been taking her time to warm up to all of the big changes here at the shelter. Once she warms up, she's pretty easy to handle and enjoys getting out of her kennel for some one on one time.Nova has been through a lot of change, and she deserves a home where she can finally settle in, feel safe, and be loved for good. She's a wonderful dog with so much to offer, and we really hope her perfect family comes along soon. **Spayed, scheduled to be microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Story
This scruffy little sweetheart is Bud! Bud is a newer face around the FDHS kennels after being transferred from an Indiana shelter that was dealing with some major flooding and needed a helping hand. We were happy to welcome this little guy to Ohio!Bud is still just a puppy, which means he comes fully equipped with good vibes, endless booty wiggles, and the most ridiculously adorable scruffy beard. Seriously, that face is going to be someone’s downfall. But Bud is more than just a cute face. He has a fantastic personality and seems to make friends with absolutely everyone he meets. He has been a total joy for our staff to handle and is impressively well mannered for such a young pup. With his friendly personality and easygoing attitude, we think Bud could fit beautifully into all sorts of homes. His future family is going to have a whole lot to love!**Scheduled to be neutered, scheduled to be microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs 32 lbs**
