Story
Meet Blake! Blake is looking for a home with a fenced yard to run endlessly in. Without a fence, he thinks it’s a fun game of chase to run for an hour (I’ll let you guess how we know 😬) Over the last 8 months with us, Blake has calmed down tremendously. He is a well behaved pooch. He doesn't get into things anymore, he is also potty trained. Blake is part husky, and his attitude shows it. When you aren't moving as fast as he wants you to, he will bark and demand things. Blake does well with his cage, goes in without an issue. He does not do well at staying in his cage if he has not had enough exercise. Blake is also extremely smart; he has learned sir, shake, touch, under, spin, and heel so far. Blake is food motivated. He thinks he is starving, which has become better as we use the enzyme pills to help him properly digest his food. We are still tackling the diarrhea. Blake is well mannered when he isn’t distracted. Blake also suffers from the worst thing ever; selective hearing. Blake does well with all dogs, he also does well with cats. Blake can do well with kids BUT has a jumping issue; so no delicate kids 😆 He’s very resilient to any challenge he faces. He has a well mannered personality, but just needs guidance for overall manners. We initially were told Blake has EPI; but our vet has determined against that; therefore we are still working on a diagnosis.

Mocha is a very sweet and shy puppy. Other than that, typical puppy. Energetic, loves toys and treats, etc. she seems to not mind anything. She is crate trained and working on house training, it’s fairly decent but not foolproof. Mocha came to us when she and her sister (Pip) had been left in the petsmart parking lot in their cage. Mocha is UTD on DHLPP and rabies, microchipped, spayed, and dewormed.

Story
Adopt Kylo! Who’s looking for a low energy, fluffy, sassy cattle dog?! Young adult male cattle dog mix. This sweet, sweet boy still needs a home. He is so down to earth and go with the flow. Does great with other dogs, is low energy, and loves those booty scratchins! He seems to want to chase livestock, but I’m betting that if someone put the time in with him, he’d understand that he shouldn’t do that. He really just wants to please. He loves being around our other dogs and has no issue with any of them. He’s a silly, playful guy that likes maybe a 15 minute walk and then he’s good. He is fixed and up to date on shots! He came to Ashtabula county animal protective league as part of a hoarding case - to which we pulled him from there! Being fostered in Lebanon OH. https://gforms.app/HhpNgNP

Story
Chuy was an owner surrender in Dallas Texas who quickly found himself on the list for next to be euthanized- purely for space. Chuy is very shy at first, so it takes time to gain his trust. Once you gain Chuy's trust, he is a dedicated pup. Chuy is vocal with his wants; wanting to go outside, wanting treats, wanting cuddles, wanting the other dog to stop drinking so he can drink. Chuy does well on a leash and does well in crowds IF nobody approaches to pet him. He has no problem with passerbyers, but does not enjoy being pet by strangers. Chuy does well with cats and other dogs with a proper introduction. Shelter notes on Chuy: Meet Chuy, a sweet and sensitive pup looking for a new home. Often cowering in his kennel, Chuy may seem nervous at first, but with patience and tasty treats, he quickly warms up to show his affectionate side. Chuy's s on a journey to find a loving home where he can continue to blossom and build his confidence. Due to space Chuy is needing placement as soon as possible. PLAYGROUP: PG1 - SOCIAL DG - DAINTY & GENTLE On 3/14/24 Timid and not very social, got a bit defensive upon interactions with others (mostly high energy dogs)Sometimes would approach others for sniffs but mostly sat in corner SHELTER OBSERVATION On 2/26/24 Upon intake Chuy was nervously shaking, and did need the help of the owner to bring him into the shelter and once inside he did walk with me well but with a few stops where he needed to calm down and then walk again, he started to whine once his owner left the building, and no signs of aggression VOLUNTEER OBSERVATION On 3/17/24 Timid Good on Leash;Good Manners;Learns Quickly;Pottied Immediately; Social (Dogs);Social (People); Timid at first, loosened up on the run ; Warms Up;Wants to Run; Chuy is overwhelmed at the shelter, but would blossom in a quieter environment. He wants to trust people, but is timid at first. He has amazing leash skills and manners in general

Story
Buster came to us from our overcrowded friends in Alabama. Buster appears to be young daschund mix puppy - we have no clue what he is mixed with. Buster was seized by animal control from a hoarding situation of over 40 daschunds and chihuahuas. Buster does well in the crate, and enjoys tearing up puppy pads. He does well with dogs big and small, and we are unsure about cats. Buster also enjoys playing in the pool and hanging out outside.

Australian Cattle Dog Corgi

Female, 2 yrs 2 mos

Size

Story
We saved Misty hours before her euthanasia for over capacity. Misty is a very underconfident dog who needs some TLC. She has the looks of a heeler and the build of a corgi! She has stubby little legs and corgi attitude. Misty is potty trained and does well with low profile dogs. She is a bit skiddish and reacts to dogs, but has not caused any harm. Her foster says it is easily managed. Misty is heartworm positive and has begun treatment - so somehow she will need to be on a relaxed lifestyle for a while.
