Story
🚨 WANTED: A Forever Home for Officer Badge 🚨 Meet Badge — the newest recruit from the Hamilton Police Services “Paw-trol Division!” Badge was picked up as a stray alongside his sister, but don’t let his rough start fool you… this sweet suspect is guilty of stealing hearts, accepting unlimited belly rubs, and causing excessive smiling in public places. At approximately 6 months old, Badge is a young Bully mix cadet with energy levels that can only be described as “high-speed pursuit.” This happy boy loves hanging out with his caregivers and is always ready to report for cuddle duty. While he may act a little “undercover” when meeting new people or entering unfamiliar situations, with patience, confidence-building, and positive socialization, Badge is expected to graduate top of his class in Companion Excellence. ⚖️ Badge’s Rap Sheet Includes: Public displays of affection Possession of zoomies with intent to distribute Resisting naps Excessive tail wagging Attempted theft of all squeaky toys As a growing puppy, Badge needs plenty of mental and physical exercise to keep him out of puppy mischief. Daily walks, training sessions, enrichment games, and playtime are all part of this officer’s recommended patrol schedule. If left without enough activity, he may resort to unauthorized snack investigations and rogue sock confiscations. 👮 Training Academy Notes: Badge is smart, eager to learn, and responds best to positive reinforcement — treats, praise, and consistency are basically his preferred currency. He’s currently accepting applications for a family willing to help him learn important life skills like leash manners, confidence, and proper “paw-cedure.” Socialization will be Badge’s top assignment as he grows. Exposure to new people, places, and experiences will help this rookie become a confident, well-rounded canine citizen. Puppy classes or supervised doggy meetups would be excellent backup units for his continued development. 💙 If you’re looking for a loyal partner, certified cuddle accomplice, and four-legged best friend who’s ready to protect and serve your household with unconditional love, Badge may be your perfect match. 📢 Case Status: Still at large… for your heart. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. Story
A soft-hearted sweetheart bursting with life, joy, and love, Honey is the kind of dog who will quietly steal your heart and never give it back. This three and half year-old lab cross' happy spirit shines through in everything she does, from her enthusiastic sniff-filled adventures to the way she lights up around her favourite people. In the home, Honey is an absolute dream. She’s calm, affectionate, beautifully behaved, and a total crate superstar. She settles easily, loves being near her people, and has that comforting, gentle presence that makes a house feel more like home. Out in the world, Honey’s happiest place is a quiet park with plenty of room to roam, sniff, and explore at her own pace. Give her open space, a peaceful trail, or a calm suburban stroll, and you’ll see her relaxed, engaged, and happily trotting alongside you with her curious nose to the ground. Watching Honey enjoy the simple things in life like soft grass, fresh air, and a good sniffing route is pure happiness. Honey is a sensitive girl, and busy streets full of noise, traffic, bikes, and close-up dogs can feel overstimulating for her. Because of this, she’s looking for a patient, dog-savvy adopter who lives in a quieter suburban or country setting and can help her manage her leash reactivity. The beautiful thing? Through it all, her love for people never wavers. Her temperament with humans is truly exceptional as she is sweet, trusting, affectionate, and full of heart. Honey doesn’t need a perfect home, but she does need one where close encounters with the canine kind will be minimal. In return, Honey promises unwavering loyalty, joyful adventures, endless cuddles, and the kind of love that feels extra special because it’s been earned. Story
Meet Tango — a 4–5-month-old Mastiff/Lab cross puppy with giant paws, a growing personality, and enough charm to bulldoze his way straight into your heart. Tango arrived at the shelter as a “stray,” which honestly feels hard to believe because this sweet boy clearly thinks people are pretty wonderful. Like many puppies, he can be a little shy when meeting new people at first but give him about five minutes and suddenly you’ve got a wiggly best friend following you around like you’ve known each other forever. He’s playful, social, goofy, and currently at that fantastic puppy stage where every single thing in the world is exciting. A leaf blowing across the yard? Incredible. A squeaky toy? Life-changing. Your shoelaces? His greatest enemy. Tango also arrived with Demodex Mange, which he has been treated for and is recovering from nicely. Demodex mange is a common skin condition in puppies caused by microscopic mites that naturally live on dogs’ skin. Young puppies can sometimes develop it when their immune systems are still maturing, leading to hair loss, irritated skin, and scabbing. The good news is that it is treatable, and Tango is already healing well — his scabs are improving, his skin is recovering, and now that he’s starting to feel better, his happy puppy personality is really shining through. This handsome boy already knows “sit,” and he’s eager to learn more. Continued obedience training and crate training will be very important as he grows, especially because Tango is expected to become a large dog. Right now, he may just be an oversized puppy with floppy enthusiasm, but one day he’ll be an oversized adult dog with floppy enthusiasm — so starting his training early will help him become the very best version of himself. As a Mastiff/Lab mix, Tango will need plenty of daily exercise, mental enrichment, and positive guidance to keep both his body and his big puppy brain happy. Puzzle toys, walks, training games, and family adventures will all help this growing boy thrive. Overall, Tango is exactly what many people dream of in a family dog: affectionate, playful, social, and full of potential. He just needs a home willing to put in the time, patience, and training needed to help a young puppy grow into a confident, well-balanced companion. Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Tracker has a future appointment to be neutered once he is fully recovered. His adopters must be willing to return him to a Hamilton clinic for this surgery, which is included in the adoption fee. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario

Story
Meet Tracker — part Heeler, part goofball, part amateur detective, and 100% ready to find his people. When Tracker first arrived, he acted like someone had accidentally dropped him into the wrong movie. He was timid, shaky, and clearly unsure about this whole “meeting new humans” situation. But after some time to decompress, the real Tracker has started making an appearance — and spoiler alert: he’s pretty great. These days, Tracker happily walks up to staff members on his own for attention and pets, proving that underneath that nervous beginning was just a sweet young dog waiting for the world to feel a little safer. Watching his confidence grow has honestly been one of our favourite glow-ups. True to his name, Tracker is very serious about investigating every blade of grass, leaf, squirrel rumour, and mysterious sidewalk smell on walks. Sniffing is his passion. Is he solving crimes? Mapping secret treasure routes? Conducting important neighbourhood business? We may never know. He’s a medium-energy boy who enjoys getting out and exploring, and as a young Heeler cross, he’ll need both physical exercise and mental stimulation to keep his clever brain happy. Puzzle toys, adventures, training sessions, and sniff-heavy walks will all be right up his alley. During his dog assessment, Tracker was playful and polite with a much larger intact male dog, and we believe he could happily live with another playful canine companion if introductions are done properly. We also feel he could do well with dog-savvy children who understand that sometimes a young dog needs a little patience while building confidence. Now, fair warning: Tracker currently believes leash walking is a full upper-body workout for his humans. He can be strong on leash, but with obedience training and positive reinforcement, he should improve quickly. In fact, we strongly recommend enrolling him in training right away — not only to help polish his manners, but because smart dogs like Tracker absolutely thrive when given structure and learning opportunities. At the end of the day, Tracker is a sweet, sensitive young dog who just needed a little time for his personality to shine. Now that it has, he’s ready to find a home where he can continue building confidence, making friends, and living his very best adventure-dog life. Story
KIKI – Mexi-Hound Mix / 2.5 years / 17 kg / F-Spayed We asked Kiki's foster parents the secret to her success, and it just comes down to the right match! Kiki is so incredibly smart and thrives when in learning mode. Combined with her passion for activity, this girl will soar! Exercising her body and her mind give this girl her glow! She would make a great running partner and would appreciate a 5k in her day. She is great on a leash, and as her favourite mode is "let's go!" a jog would be fab for her. Her training foundation is solid - she knows a ton of commands, is great in the house, has good leash manners: where her new people will have fun with her training is with agility or other mind/body programs. In her downtime, she is very cuddly and happy to be with her people. Some dogs may find her a bit extra, so we think she'd be happiest as the solo dog in the home, provided there are a ton of toys and playtime. If you are looking for an adventure buddy in your life, Kiki could be for you! Please check out the adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. Her adoption fee is $750. If you are a family with older kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply. (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs)
