Story
Canelo's (Cinnamon) is approximately 1.5 years old. He weighs 70 lbs. He is fully vaccinated, 4DX tested negative neutered and has a registered microchip. His adoption fee is $650.00 + tax. Canelo is a happy, playful and social pup with gorgeous copper eyes! He is a sweet boy who loves to be with people and is eager to please. He is a super smart pup and learns quickly especially when there are treats involved! He came to rescue from an outdoor living situation where he was expected to stay in the unfenced yard. He found him self in multiple out of his yard locations due to his seeking out humans to interact with! He is so happy to be in a home and included in family activities; whether indoors or outdoors... he just wants a family to be close to. He is working on leashed walking, but can be VERY strong when he sees something new or exciting! He will need a strong owner who can 'hold on', as he learns to control his excitement... he really is just so excited to experience new things after living alone outside. He is great with being kenneled indoors and sleeps soundly while kenneled overnight. For being new to the life of living indoors, he picked up super quickly on house training. He loves to run and explore the yard, and boy can he run!!! Due to his, breed and size and energy level, he would do best in a single family home with a large fenced in yard. He takes good 'cues' off of the dogs that he spends time with. While he can be a playful pup with the ones that enjoy to play, he will also give space to the ones that prefer to be left alone. He hasn't lived with cats in foster care, but he has seen some from a distance and has been very curious in a non-aggressive way. He has had no issues with the chickens that are separately fenced in the yard and has not tried jump the 4' ft. fenced in enclosure to get to them. Canelo can't wait to find a family to call his own! He is a fantastic pup and will make a great loyal companion to his new family, living the life of a loved family member... together where he wants to be! If you are interested in meeting Canelo or being considered for his adoption, please complete an adoption application at: savingtails.org *Due to the STAR adoption process and the continuing support of our rescue animals, STAR does not do adoptions outside of a 60 mile radius of the Twin Cities area. Saving Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) is a 501(c)3 registered no-kill, non profit animal rescue. All animals are placed in loving foster homes until their forever family finds them. Because there is not a physical shelter location, foster homes are needed to help rescue local animals who are in danger of euthanasia. If you would be interested interested in fostering an animal in need; please fill out an application at savingtails.orgApril 11, 2024, 7:22 pm

Snapshot of Trooper: Size: Large, 75lbs Activity Level: High Noise Level: moderate barking but quiet in the house Good with Dogs: yes Good with Cats: unknown Good with Kids: No Good with Strangers: Skittish and slow introduction but warms up quickly. Potty Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Shedding: Yes Hi my name is Trooper: I think I'm pretty much a pure German Shepard but its tough to tell because nobody knows where I came from. I was found on the streets, severely underweight and in pretty bad shape, but finally got taken into rescue and was given some much-needed love and care. During this whole journey, they told me that I am likely about 3.5 years old and although I was skinny at the time, they helped me get back to a normal weight of about 75lbs. Being on the streets made me pretty weary of new people, so I am not a huge fan of strangers and don't like being approached. Because of this, I don't think I would do the best around young kids; however, after you give me some time to check you out, I do warm up quick. I haven't been around many cats, but I do know that I am a fan of playing with the dog friends my family has introduced me to. Aside from some of my skittish behaviors and fear towards new people, I actually am very smart. My foster parents tell me that I am one of the smartest dogs they know and love making me do all these ridiculous things. I know the basic commands like sit, shake, stay, and lay down, but also know a few others like when to place on my mat and can go to my kennel when being told...usually. I also am big fan of play wrestling with my foster parents but am still working on calming myself down when they tell me they're done. I can get a little mouthy (I call them teeth kisses) but have learned that this is a bad trait to have, so I have been working hard to stop doing that as well. I can definitely keep up with an energetic lifestyle and love to play and go on walks. When I am not playing, I don't mind lounging around. I typically like staying near my people and making sure I know what is happening at all times, and definitely love some cuddles and belly scratches. Overall, I know there are some things I need to work on, but I am convinced that if someone can continue to work with me, I can make a great companion. I love being outside so would love a place where I can still explore the yard and have room to run around. I wouldn't mind sharing a house with another pup as long as they can manage playing rough sometimes. While I might not do great in a crazy home with kids and tons of new people, I would love to be someone's buddy for life. Trooper is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Adoption Fee: $400 + applicable tax Trooper is currently on medication for skin allergies. With his reactivity and anxiety he will need further training and possibly medication to help him. My foster family says I am very smart and learn so fast. I am potty trained and I let my foster family know when I need to go out. I am learning how to sleep in my crate at night and getting the hang of it. I love walking and am getting better on my leash daily. I love everyone I meet and will kiss you all day. I love other dogs and cats but need to learn how to say hello appropriately. (I have a lot of energy). I do not want the other dog in the house to have my toys or my food, which is called resource guarding. My foster family is helping me work through this. Lady is a sweet dog who loves anything and everyone she meets. She is shy at first but works through it. This beautiful girl is looking forward to finding her furrever home. Story
Hi there! My name is Davey and I'm a 4 year old male Shepherd mix. I have been told I am a very handsome boy with a personality to match! Those are great qualities, right? I just don't understand what is taking so long to find my own forever family. I originally came from a high kill shelter in South Carolina and boy was I glad to get out of there! I have since come to love all the volunteers and staff at Animal Ark. When the volunteers brush me, I don't have the heart to tell them they can brush all they want, I'll just make more! I think you should know right from the start about my two favorite things. They are belly rubs and a fun game of fetch! You may wonder why those two?... Well, I get to do both of them with my humans! So, if this sounds good to you, count me in! This is what the volunteers & staff want to share about me:Davey is an affectionate and playful boy who will brighten your days and capture your heart in an instant. You can often find Davey with his chin on his paws and his eyes looking up your way. He is hoping to catch your glance in a silent plea for some quality time spent with you. Davey will settle right next to you or even come up and lay right in your lap. He doesn't need any coaxing. And during brushing sessions, well, he will always turn over for his tummy to be rubbed because he thinks belly rubs are the best! Davey LOVES to play fetch and he is unable to hide his enjoyment when chasing and returning the ball. His happiness is written all over his SMILING face! Davey is a pack dog at heart and has many doggy friends at the shelter. Davey and his friend Blue often chase each other around while playing in the ark park together. He will even share his ball with her. Davey does well with most dogs when given proper introductions, however, a meet with any potential siblings would be a must. Davey looks forward to going on walks and is always on the lookout for a squirrel to chase.... SQUIRRELS BEWARE!!! Because he has a prey drive, he will do best in a home without cats and other small animals. Davey adores his humans and after his walk he enjoys a good rest or nap hopefully right next to you! Davey rides well in the car, is house trained, and knows commands like sit, shake, down, and come. He likes children but at times can be a little mouthy. He does have a "soft" mouth and responds well to treat or toy redirection. Davey is smart and wants to please and he would really benefit with some training to become the best dog he can be! We Love Davey very much and we want more than anything for him to find him his very own family. He will fill your life with joy! So, if you are a "pro" at giving belly rubs and you are searching for a super sweet and playful companion then our sweet Davey is your boy!

Story
**I am currently residing in a foster home and can be seen with an approved adoption application**My name is Emmy short for Emerson and I am ready to slowly meet your acquaintance. You might have looked at my breed and thought that someone got it WAY wrong, but I have actually gotten a DNA test done and I am 27% German Shepherd, 8% Australian Cattle Dog, 8%Siberian Husky, 7% Border Collie, 6% Miniature Pinscher and 19 other breeds! I am a sweet girl that can be a bit shy at first and I am just 2-years-old. I came into Animal Ark because I was not being friendly with the small dog in the home but I have done well with other dogs my size so some have called me dog selective. I also lived with a cat but we got along just fine! Once I know you, I love to give hugs, hold your hand and receive scratches(particularly around my neck). My favorite toys include anything that squeaks and footballs! Side note, I'm great at catch and potty trained! It might take me a few visits to warm up to you, but I promise I'm worth it!

Story
Name: Bucket Breeds: German Shepherd Age: Puppy Sex: Male Size: Large Bucket is a goofy name for a goofy pup! This German Shepherd is gorgeous, outgoing, social, and just a little bit naughty. Well, he's not naughty so much as he has never been taught manners or how to play appropriately. Bucket loves people, cannot get enough of people, but his love often is shown in jumping all over, bouncing off, and mouthing. This was probably adorable when he was a little puppy and his owners never corrected it and even encouraged it. But from a 70 lb and growing dog, it's more painful than adorable. Bucket is not at all mean or aggressive, he is untrained and it shows. The progress he has made in learning appropriate interactions in even a week is outstanding and we know he will be an incredible dog for someone who puts the time into training him. He already has an exceptional temperament and his potential is sky high. Bucket LOVES the water and the kiddie pools, loves toys, and is learning that fetch is way more fun when you bring the ball back to be thrown again. He is very friendly with other dogs but very overbearing so will need a home who will monitor interactions and separate to make sure the other dog is not overwhelmed by him. He is not good with cats. Due to his mouthy behavior he should not be placed with kids. He is doing well on his housetraining and cratetraining with a schedule and repetition. If you have the patience, time, and experience to put some training in, Bucket is going to be amazing. As with all dogs under 2, he is required to be signed up for a basic training class prior to adoption to set everyone up for success Requirements: Training sign up required. No cats. No young kids Adoption Fee: $500 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm/tick testing in dogs over 8 months of age, deworming, microchip and current Heartgard and Nexgard preventatives.
