Story
Jack is a 9-week-old Lab mix with a short tan-and-black coat, soulful eyes, and an adorable expressive face that will melt your heart. At approximately 7 pounds now, he's expected to grow into a medium-sized dog, making him the perfect companion for adventures, cuddles, and everything in between. This sweet boy has a wonderfully balanced personality. Jack is playful and curious when it's time for fun, but he also knows how to settle down and enjoy a cozy nap. One of his favorite things is exploring the world through his nose—on walks, you can practically see the moment he catches an interesting scent and decides he needs to investigate! He's smart, confident, affectionate, and always eager to see what comes next.Despite being rescued while wandering in the woods, Jack adjusted to foster life immediately. He popped right out of his travel crate, made himself at home, and has been happily embracing life ever since. He's friendly with everyone he meets, including other dogs and children of various ages. Like most puppies, he's currently in his playful nibbling stage, so young children should be supervised as he continues learning puppy manners.Jack enjoys squeaky toys, chew treats, puzzle toys that challenge his clever mind, and playing with his littermates. He sleeps through the night in his crate, transitions easily from playtime to downtime, and quietly waits for his foster family to wake up in the morning. He's currently working on house training and is doing well using potty pads.Jack would thrive with a family that can provide both physical activity and mental enrichment. He loves walks, playtime, and learning new things, but he's equally happy curling up for a long puppy nap after a busy day.If you're looking for a confident, cuddly, intelligent puppy with a curious spirit and a heart full of love, Jack may be the perfect addition to your family. Come meet this handsome little chap—you'll quickly see why everyone falls in love with him!If you are interested in Jack, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $550. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Story
Maxx is a 2-year-old Shepherd with a big body, soft heart, and just a touch of lovable chaos. At nearly 100 pounds, he’s truly a gentle giant who doesn’t quite realize his own size. He loves his belly rubs and will melt down at your feet to ask for one.Maxx is also a local celebrity and destined for the silver screen. Recently he was on WCCO with our Executive Director Kerry D'Amato https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/video/maxx-is-roughly-95-pounds-of-pure-love-looking-for-a-forever-home/#xMaxx is fully house trained but not a fan of being crated (especially with the door closed). He does well having free roam of the home and settles nicely when he feels safe. He also does great in the car! He’s incredibly people-focused, eager to please, and already showing off his smarts with commands like sit, shake, lay down, stay, come, and even “bang.”Maxx is curious but doesn't have a lot of experience with other dogs and cats, so he will do great with slow introductions. He cannot live in homes with young kids (under 13) simply due to his size — he could easily knock little ones over without meaning to. Older, dog-savvy kids would be a better match. This boy needs an active home. He has lots of energy and will thrive with plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation. Fetch with a ball is a favorite, and he also enjoys keeping watch out the window like the good neighborhood supervisor he is. A securely fenced yard will be required in his future home to meet his energy needs and for safety. He’s a big, goofy, loving dog who just wants to be near his people and be told he’s a good boy (which he is). With the right mix of exercise, structure, and love, Maxx is going to be an incredibly loyal and fun companion. If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Story
Tempo is a 2-year-old Husky mix and a sweet, sensitive guy. At 62 lbs, he has a gentle heart, a curious mind, and a playful streak that comes out once he feels safe. He can be shy at first and prefers slow, respectful introductions, but give him a little time and he’ll happily follow you around the house, lean in for pets, and invite you to play—sometimes by dramatically forcing his face into your arms or chasing his own tail for laughs. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and generally well-behaved, though he can get into mischief like exploring the trash if left alone too long. Tempo has some mild separation anxiety and benefits from being crated when left alone. His favorite toy is a tennis ball that he chews on and chases. Tempo loves being outside and going for walks, and he does best with regular exercise to keep his body and brain happy. He will require a fenced yard in his future home to give him the exercise he needs.Proper introductions will be needed when introducing Tempo to new friends because of his unknown history. He will pull toward dogs on walks like he wants to play, and he hasn’t met a cat directly, but he seems curious when seeing cats outside. Tempo hasn’t met kids yet, but he would likely do well with dog-savvy kids who let him warm up to them.Tempo is looking for a patient home that understands shy dogs, loves daily walks and outdoor time, and is ready to earn the trust—and loyalty—of a truly special sidekick! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Story
Ollie is a 2–3-year-old Shepherd mix who perfectly balances adventure buddy and cuddlebug. At 40 pounds, he’s big enough to join you on long walks and outdoor fun, but perfectly content to curl up next to you on the couch afterward. He’s happiest when he’s near his people. He was quiet and subdued his first couple of days in foster care, cuddling almost immediately, and grew more playful and confident as he settled in. He’s fully house trained and hasn’t had any accidents in his foster home. Ollie knows “kennel” and will head right into his crate, though he's done well when left out and content to nap for hours.Ollie is great with other dogs and gets very excited when he sees them out and about. He does not have experience with cats or with children, so a proper introduction is recommended. This boy has high energy and will need more than just a quick stroll around the block. Multiple daily walks are recommended, and a fenced yard will be required in his future home to meet his energy needs. His favorite activity is running free and sniffing everything in sight, but also enjoys puzzle toys to keep his smart mind busy. He loves soft or crinkly toys (fair warning: they may not survive long), and he’ll happily chase a tennis ball — he just hasn’t quite grasped the concept of bringing it back. Ollie is the kind of dog who will run with you by day and curl up close by night. Story
Clara is one of a litter of 10 pups surrendered to PUP to be rehomed. Mommy and pups were living in a challenging situation where the owner felt it was best for the puppies to go into rescue to find forever loving homes. Mommy, pictured, looks like a scruffy terrier type and daddy was a mystery man who didn’t stick around and man-up to his responsibilities. The puppies arrived at their foster home in good health and mommy had done a good job caring for them. We had DNA testing done on one pup from the litter. They are quite the mix, with 54% herding dog including Australian Cattle Dog, German Shepherd, Miniature American Shepherd, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Border Collie and Cane Di Oropa (we didn’t know what that was either!) The rest is Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, Husky, Pit Bull, Japanese Chin, American Eskimo and Golden Retriever. We call it hybrid vigor. There is no possibility of inbreeding here!! We think puppy will be mid-size when full grown but that is best guess and her adopter should be ready to love and cuddle pup if she is larger or smaller than predicted. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Puppy has been vet checked, is vaccinated, and de-wormed. She will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. Her required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done by 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that she be altered by 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested. Puppies may be seen and selected now but may not go to their new home until June 22.
