Story
Tyson is a very sweet boy that can be very clingy to his owner. He has never showed any type of aggression and does very well at the dog park. My assumption is that it will take him a couple days to a few weeks to get himself accustomed to him being in a new place with your family. He may be scared and whine and bark a lot. If that is something you’re willing to tolerate and work with him to get him comfortable in your home then we can absolutely arrange something. He doesn’t do well on walks because he pulls and is not good with recall off leash in public. But he does well at the dog park with other dogs. Most of the time he just runs and explore the dog park without paying much attention to other dogs. He is potty trained but there may be accidents if it’s a new place that he’s trying to get use to. He loves to play fetch. Would love an active family who will let him cuddle with them in bed.

Story
Snapshot of Trooper: Size: Large, 75lbs Activity Level: High Noise Level: moderate barking but quiet in the house Good with Dogs: yes Good with Cats: unknown Good with Kids: No Good with Strangers: Skittish and slow introduction but warms up quickly. Potty Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Shedding: Yes Hi my name is Trooper: I think I'm pretty much a pure German Shepard but its tough to tell because nobody knows where I came from. I was found on the streets, severely underweight and in pretty bad shape, but finally got taken into rescue and was given some much-needed love and care. During this whole journey, they told me that I am likely about 3.5 years old and although I was skinny at the time, they helped me get back to a normal weight of about 75lbs. Being on the streets made me pretty weary of new people, so I am not a huge fan of strangers and don't like being approached. Because of this, I don't think I would do the best around young kids; however, after you give me some time to check you out, I do warm up quick. I haven't been around many cats, but I do know that I am a fan of playing with the dog friends my family has introduced me to. Aside from some of my skittish behaviors and fear towards new people, I actually am very smart. My foster parents tell me that I am one of the smartest dogs they know and love making me do all these ridiculous things. I know the basic commands like sit, shake, stay, and lay down, but also know a few others like when to place on my mat and can go to my kennel when being told...usually. I also am big fan of play wrestling with my foster parents but am still working on calming myself down when they tell me they're done. I can get a little mouthy (I call them teeth kisses) but have learned that this is a bad trait to have, so I have been working hard to stop doing that as well. I can definitely keep up with an energetic lifestyle and love to play and go on walks. When I am not playing, I don't mind lounging around. I typically like staying near my people and making sure I know what is happening at all times, and definitely love some cuddles and belly scratches. Overall, I know there are some things I need to work on, but I am convinced that if someone can continue to work with me, I can make a great companion. I love being outside so would love a place where I can still explore the yard and have room to run around. I wouldn't mind sharing a house with another pup as long as they can manage playing rough sometimes. While I might not do great in a crazy home with kids and tons of new people, I would love to be someone's buddy for life. Trooper is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Adoption Fee: $400 + applicable tax Trooper is currently on medication for skin allergies. With his reactivity and anxiety he will need further training and possibly medication to help him. Story
Sven is the smallest of the little family that was surrendered to PUP. He is playful but since his siblings out weigh him, he sometimes ends up with the short end of the stick. Sill, he wants in on the action. Sven appears to be about 8 weeks old and is a mixed breed that includes some herding dog, possibly a Kelpie or Aussie. Dogs from the area he comes from nearly always have some German Shepherd, a dash of husky, and a teaspoon of Chihuahua in their DNA. We have sent DNA in for testing on his brother and it has not come back yet. We do know a lot about him, tho. His coat was in rough shape when he arrived but it is now a lovely reddish tan with black highlights. He has the 'tail diamond' that we see so often in German Shepherd puppies. He, as well as his siblings, is quite the cuddler and he loves to be held and fussed with by his foster. He is always the first to snag a spot on your lap. He will be a mid-sized dog when full grown. Sven and his siblings Anna and Olaf, along with their auntie Elsa, were surrendered to PUP because their owner was deeply impoverished and simply could not afford to feed them. They had all (including the people) missed a few meals before the pups were surrendered, but the pups were otherwise healthy. Sven loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He is accustomed to going outside and does much of his pottying outdoors, but he is using newspapers reliably in the house. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Sven has been vet checked, dewormed and had one routine vaccination. He will need two additional vaccinations plus rabies vaccination at the adopter’s expense. The $375 adoption fee (check or cash) includes the cost of pup’s required spay/neuter at 6 months of age provided it is done by the PUP vet. We do place puppies outside the metro area but a plan for the required spay/neuter must be in place. We do not ship. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.

Story
Sara is a 2 yr old, 51# female German shepherd mix. She is very affectionate, and very smart and attentive to her foster family. She loves to run and play with other dogs (a fenced yard would be great), but doesn’t like cats. Sara does well with respectful kids; can be shy with strangers at first, but warms up quickly. Her leash manners are fairly good, but she will pull if she sees a critter or another dog. Although she doesn’t bark at other dogs or people during her walks, she will do some alert barking at home. Being a young dog, she is energetic and will need some form of regular exercise, and having another dog to run around the yard with would help meet this need; afterwards, she is relaxed and ready for some cuddle time (she loves pets and scratches). Sara can entertain herself by hiding toys in the yard, and finding them later – she enjoys playing with toys and chewing on bones. She is house trained, and has never had to be kenneled – she’s good being alone for 5-6 hrs. but prefers to have someone at home with her. For training and correction, she responds well with rewards of treats and praise. Sara came to us from an out-of-town animal shelter where she had presented as an injured stray, so we don’t have any history on her. She likely had been hit by a car because she had cuts and abrasions, and wasn’t weight bearing on her left hind leg. X-rays indicated a luxated hip joint, and in February of this year had an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) on that left hip. After rest, physical therapy, and hydrotherapy, an X-ray re-check in mid March looked good and she uses her leg without any limping . She has no activity restrictions, and can be as active as she wants. Sara was vaccinated, spayed, and her heartworm test and tick profile are negative. Her microchip is registered to Second Chance. Sara has a $375 adoption fee. Please call 651-771-5662 if you are interested in Sara.

Story
Name: Beetle Breeds: German Shepherd/ Husky Mix Age: Young Adult Sex: Male Size: Large Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice! And here appears this handsome boy. Except you don't have to say his name 3 times...he's right there from the get go ready for the next adventure. Beetlejuice is a young German Shepherd/ Husky mix (best guess) who ended up in doggy jail after being found running as a stray and no one coming to claim him. He is excellent with other dogs and loves people. He is a BIG boy and needs some manners about not jumping up and being overzealous with his love so is best suited for a home with older kids and someone willing to put in some training to teach him good manners. Beetle loves to go for walks, loves to play fetch, and is happiest going on any adventure his human wants to take him on. He is housetrained and cratetrained. If you are an active home looking for a smart, energetic buddy, check out this boy! Requirements: Training sign up required. No young kids Adoption Fee: $500 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm/tick testing in dogs over 8 months of age, deworming, microchip and current Heartgard and Nexgard preventatives.
