You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Please apply online to schedule a one-on-one meeting with me - https://underdogrescuemn.com/canine-adoption-application/ DOB: Approximately 5/23/16 Requires another dog in home: Yes, needs another large social dog Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown weigh: 63 pounds Requires a fenced yard: Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hello, my name is Ellen. I am a gorgeous, sweet, and very kind albeit shy adult female German Shepherd. Truth be told, I am afraid of pretty much everything in this enormous world from commotion to loud noises like thunderstorms so a fenced yard is a must. Additionally, I am looking for a VERY special fur-ever family who is lovingly patient and will NEVER give up on me! I have not met any cats or kids, but I am good with other dogs and will need another large dog who will help me feel comfortable and secure! I don’t play much but I’m a smart girl who knows what “go potty” means and I’m potty & leash trained. As for the kennel/crate, foster mom doesn’t put me in that cave because I am an amazingly good girl who simply lays in her bedroom, she can even shut the door if she wants to because I feel safe in there. I am very slowly learning what it’s like to feel safe and loved. In fact, I have become comfortable enough with foster mom that I greet her in the morning by putting my head right next to hers while I patiently await lovingly gentle head scratches! Hint, hint! By the way, I also love butt scratches and ear rubs! Just sayin’! Hee, hee!! Anyway, I really am an incredibly sweet girl who tries SO hard to be brave. All I need now is a calm fur-ever home. Sure, I may not ever be that girl that greets you at the door or gives you kisses but I assure you that I have an enormous heart that is brimming with unconditional love and I long to share with YOU!! All I ask is that you give unconditional love in return and allow me the time, space, and patience I need to become comfortable and learn to trust in my own time! I promise that I’m worth it and in time, I will love you more than all the pebbles of sand on the planet! Love, Ellen *Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
Welcome Chonk to CCPAL foster program. He is a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix is our best guess. He is 3 to 4 years old and weighs about 60lbs. He was found near a home as a stray that is a common dumping ground for dogs. This good Samaritan has asked CCPAL to help find Chonk a forever home. He is good with other dogs and walks well on leash. He is potty trained. He loves to be next to you laying on the couch or floor next to you. He is also a fan of playing in the yard outside. He takes treats like a gentleman and has never shown any food aggression. He has learned sit and shake a pay since we have had him. He doesn’t mind his nails being cut and takes treats like a gentleman. He has never shown any food aggression. He is learning kennel training and has great recall. He is a well-rounded dog and would be great in just about any home. The family could be moderately active to very active and he would be a good fit. He is healthy, vaccinated and will be neutered soon and ready for his forever home. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can also work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Mal to CCPAL Rescue. He is an 11-month-old German Shepherd dog. Mal is potty trained, good in a car, good with other dogs. He loves children and was really nice and gentle with the child that he made. He is outgoing and social. He doesn’t have too much of a slope on his back legs so less of an issue as he ages with his hips. He is very attentive, very smart and will be a fun boy to train. He is loyal and social with new people. We would love a previous GSD owner for Mal. GSDs need to have mental and physical stimulation to be happy. He would be a great family dog with children as the children become a job for them. He has the typical Shepherd coat and bushy tail. He weight about 48 pounds and is a little thin. His foster will be working on him to give him more food. He was found as a stray and after exhausting all efforts to find his owner, they feel he may have been dumped as a stray. He is healthy, vaccinated and will be neutered soon. He is active and would be best with an active family to join. He would be great in social settings and in a crowd as he is very confident and friendly. He will be fun to train as he is very smart and attentive. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally in Texas. We can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get Mal to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Story
Greetings, mortals! I am Aries, a majestic male dog with a powerful spirit that rivals the might of the gods themselves. My lineage is a fusion of strength and courage, much like the mythical Greek warriors of old. As a German Shepherd mix, I bear the mantle of both protector and loyal companion, ready to embark on epic adventures by your side. Behold, my most distinctive feature: my big, floppy ears that listen keenly to the whispers of the wind and the secrets of the world around me. They stand as a testament to my unwavering vigilance, always attuned to the slightest rustle or sign of danger. Like the fiery ram that represents my namesake constellation, I possess boundless energy and a fiery spirit. With every step I take, I channel the might of the heavens, exuding the strength and grace befitting of a true Greek hero. My paws tread the earth with purpose, and my heart beats with the fervor of an ancient battle cry. But fear not, for beneath my divine exterior lies a heart overflowing with affection. I am not just a warrior; I am a loyal and loving companion. Together, we shall conquer every challenge and forge an unbreakable bond that even the gods would envy. So, dear mortal, if you seek a canine ally who embodies the essence of a Greek legend, look no further. I, Aries, the German Shepherd mix with big floppy ears, am here to join you on a quest of a lifetime. Let us create a mythic tale of companionship and courage that will be sung by bards for generations to come. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB: 02/08/2021 Requires another dog in home: No, picky about her friends Okay with dogs of all sizes: Not good with small dogs - read more in profile  Okay with cats: No, unless dog savvy cat  Okay with children under 12 years old: Older, considerate kids only Weight: 34 lbs Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Raquel. I am a stunning, wrinkly-faced young adult female Belgian Malinois/Boxer mix with an adorable underbite who’s the perfect mix of energetic and relaxed. That said, I can be a bit reactive when it comes to other dogs and I have been known to whimper, bark, lunge, or even bite at them. Little dogs like Pugs or Bulldogs seem to be a trigger for me so although I would love to have a doggie companion at my new home, he/she would need to be a larger, alpha dog who’s already established in the home. I am, after all, a great guard dog and will think of the home as ‘MINE’ if another dog is brought in after me. Additionally, I’m a bit of a follower which means I like to follow the pack so if other dogs are fighting, I will too. That said, I did go to a training facility where there was 30+ dogs and I did great so I think with time, patience, and continued training I will overcome these quirks of mine!!  Anyway, my favorite activities include spending time with and shadowing my people (even kids); going for leashed walks; chasing squirrels, bunnies, or birds (if given the chance); snoozing on the couch; eating food; playing with my toys; chilling with my resident doggie sib; running zoomies in a fenced yard; barking at the strangers/noises outside; and playing hide-n-seek with the cat. I admit I have a high prey drive, but I do well with a cat that can keep me in line! Hee, hee!!  I don't require a fenced in yard, but if you don't have one, I need a home who can give me a walk or run each day.  I don’t like a lot of commotion and if strangers come into the house when foster mom’s not there, I have been known to get a little uneasy and that can come out in the form of a growl or snap.  I am a very smart girl who will not only give myself a ‘time-out’ in my kennel if I’m barking too much but I am potty trained and I know commands like “sit”, “down”, “kennel/crate”, and “heel”! Seriously, how brilliant am I!!?!! I am a great listener too which makes training a lot easier!  I know that I’m a bit unpredictable right now but I’m still young and I really am a sweetheart who simply wants to find unconditional love in my own furever home with a patient family who will NEVER give up on me! My heart is SO full of love that I really want to share with YOU…please be my new family, I assure you I’m worth it! Love Raquel NOTE: Raquel has had a DNA test and is 38% Belgian Malinois, 18% Boxer and 17% American Pitbull Terrier Note that this dog has been treated for heartworm  and will need monthly heartworm preventatives year round for life.  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
