Story
Volunteers describe him as playful, happy and great on leash. Favorite things: play fetch and loves water. His playstyle is Rough & Rowdy: involving lots of physical play such as grabbing, holding, and tumbling. It is typically mutual and often noisy. Human analogy: wrestling or rough housing. Socially, he's selective which means he can play with some dogs but not successfully with all dogs. He would do best in a home where he is the only object of his human's affection. Mint Chip is available for adoption at Contra Costa Animal Services in Martinez https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/7885/Available-Dogs

Story
Is this adorable sweet and Sassy diaper baby the dog for you? She can be sassy with other dogs but she really just wants to be a sweet cuddly girl with her favorite humans. Why do we call her a diaper baby, you ask? Well, she has some minor issues with her hind quarters, possibly due to a subarachnoid diverticulum cyst on her spinal cord (a congenital defect that is likely to be stable over the remainder of her life). It seems that the nerve impulses from her hind quarters are blocked or delayed getting back to her brain so she drags her back legs a bit and she unfortunately has little bowel and bladder control, hence the “diaper baby” endearment. The good news is that she does not let it stop or slow her down and she is very tolerant of wearing her diapers. She has full command of her hind legs but does not always seem to know exactly where they are at any given moment. When she is running at full tilt boogie (zoomies level 10) she tends to do power slides around corners and will occasionally trip and momentarily loose traction, but she quickly gets back up to full Husky speed. She would be great as an only dog for someone who is willing to take on a sweet diaper baby. She does exhibit some occasional resource guarding behaviors so an experienced owner would be recommended for a multi dog home. She also tends to be the play police when her foster dog siblings are trying to play. Both behaviors are relatively minor and manageable by an experienced owner. If you will consider giving this sweet (and a bit sassy) diaper baby a place in your home, she will steal your heart.      July 14, 2024, 1:39 pm

Story
Sweet Brulee is a beautiful girl with the most amazing coloring. She has a strong personality, very human centric and bonds very quickly with her humans. She walks decent on leash once some of the typical husky energy has been burnt off but could use more leash training and would do best with a very active family. She has a strong prey drive so care should be taken around small animals.  Brulee is treat motived, takes treats very nicely, knows 'sit', ‘shake’, 'down', 'stay' and crate trained. She loves playing with toys and people, but not very interested in other dogs. Brulee would most likely do best as an only dog as she loves all the attention. Anyone looking for a very active but extremely sweet girl as a companion dog, Brulee is your girl!Click here to watch a video of Brulee.      July 14, 2024, 1:39 pm

Story
Bilbo is a very sweet dog with striking looks. He's high energy some of the time, and quiet at others. The shepherd in him is guarding and alert, but the husky in him greets people easily. He does pull on the leash, but if you're someone who is outdoorsy, he'll eagerly go on long walks/runs/hikes. Bilbo does not do well being left alone so another dog would be great.  Bilbo is currently in a home with another male dog but the owners circumstances changed so Bilbo is now a NorSled boy. He sleeps in the house and is housebroken. He likes kids in his neighborhood but as with all NorSled dogs should be in a home with kids 8 years or older.        July 14, 2024, 1:39 pm

Story
Jubilee has been living in a foster home and she's really living up to her name!  She is about 12 months old and full of FUN!  This sweetheart of a puppy only weighs 40 lbs. and we don't think she'll get much bigger.   She loves all the dogs and people she meets - and they love her back! She especially loves, loves to play with her 8 month old and 2 yr old foster sisters, for hours! She is also respectful to older dogs.  She's a smart girl that knows basic commands, is potty trained, plus she’s eager to please.  She loves to cuddle when she's sleeping or relaxing, either with humans or other dogs. She's well behaved in public and in restaurants - but is very interested in meeting other dogs too.  She needs some leash training and we're working on that. She's still very full of young puppy energy! Jubilee is 57% Siberian Husky, 23% Australian cattle dog, 9% Alaskan malamute, 3% Samoyed and 3% Chow Chow! All this in a petite and fun sized little girl t hat wants to be your BFF! Click here to watch a video of Jubilee.      July 14, 2024, 1:39 pm

Story
Prancer is an easy girl: - Potty trained - Crate trained - Easy to walk and not a puller (loose leash!) - Not an escape artist or digger - Can be trusted alone in a home without touching a thing! Seriously. Great on solo walks. Would be great in a calm environment. Loves treats and very affectionate. Great with other people; needs attention around other dogs. She’s loving, lovely and easy! She loves her walks, rides and adventures, but, despite little bursts of energy, she’s not super high energy so a nice walk and/or play time in the yard and she’s good to go. This really is an easy dog!      Click here to watch a video of Prancer the Dancer.      July 14, 2024, 1:39 pm
