Story
Hunter, a 1 1/2 year-old dog with a gentle and loving nature, is seeking a stable home. While he has brought joy to our family, his habit of finding gaps in the fence for neighborhood exploration has prompted us to seek a more suitable environment. Hunter expertly escapes over our deck, physical fence, and electric collar, making containment challenging. He's currently sharing a home with an 8-year-old dog named Toby, Hunter engages in really nasty fighting exclusively with him. I'm really not sure if his aggressive behavior is exclusive to Toby, so to ensure Hunter's well-being, we recommend a single-dog household to avoid sibling rivalry dynamics. Despite these challenges, Hunter remains a loving companion. He's incredible smart and can be trained very quicklly, I wish my family had more time and energy to put into this dog and make things work, but I don't think that it's going to be possible. With the right owner, we believe he can thrive and bring joy to a new home.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rocco was adopted as a puppy and returned to the shelter 14 years later as a senior dog. An overcrowded inner city shelter is no place for a senior. They are more susceptible to infection and he quickly developed kennel cough which led to pneumonia. He has been two months with us and has made an amazing recovery.  Our veterinarian says he is in great shape for a 14 year old. His cough is gone and his lungs are clear. if you have ever thought of adopting a senior he is your guy. He still enjoys a walk and loves the car. He has had X-rays and blood work and all came out great.  he does take thyroid medication once a day and it is very reasonable. We are looking for a forever foster or adopter for Rocco. We would like to see him as an only dog so that he can get all the attention but he can be with calmer dogs. He has a bit of arthritis and is not interested in playing with more active dogs.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 1, 2023, 9:37 am

Khaleesi is a sweet husky mix. What is that mix? No clue. But she is a lovely lady, she knows a couple commands, and has great manners.

Story
Sitka is a gorgeous but slightly challenging white husky mix. When he first came into the shelter, he didn't want to be touched at all. Once he was in and out of his kennel a few times he slowly started reacting better, but was still quite the "I am large and in charge" type of guy. He arrived as an intact male and doesn't really seem to have had much in the way of manners guidance or training once he sort of figures out that the person that is taking care of him is good and providing food and not a threat to him, he becomes much more relaxed. He's still probably going to need someone who is a confident dog handler because he's a smart fellow. He definitely could take advantage of a situation where he feels like he could intimidate someone. He hasn't been tested yet with other dogs but we could certainly do that. He's super food motivated but doesn't respond to any commands. He does show some resource guarding with food; his new family or rescue would need to be prepared for that. We would definitely recommend he go into a home with no children? under teenaged. With the right family and training, we think that this guy will absolutely thrive. If placed in a bad situation and left to make choices on his own, we guarantee he's going to make some bad choices.

** $50 in pledges for the rescue that pull ** ** The Bridge Clinic will repair the right forelimb (radius and ulna) fracture for $1500 within 1-2 weeks (please note ACCT is not covering the cost)** ** NEW VIDEO ** ** Interested foster through rescue ** Zion ACCT-A-152586 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Zion must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH at 6PM. Should Zion's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. Zion is a stunningly handsome and friendly young husky who was found as a stray on 11/25. His finders reported he may have been the victim of a hit and run; after receiving X-rays, it was discovered that Zion has a complete horizontal fracture of both the radius and ulna in his right front leg. His fractures will most likely require orthopedic surgery to repair, so Zion must urgently exit the shelter with a rescue partner who can help him recover! Please note that The Bridge Clinic has offered to repair Zion's right forelimb radius and ulnar fractures for $1500 within one to two weeks of rescue placement, to be coordinated by the rescue and at the rescue's expense. On 11/25, Zion's veterinary exam noted: BAR, happy, friendly. Patient is holding up the RFL and the limb distal to the carpus is flopping around. Distal radius/ulnar region has a round swelling. Otherwise ambulating on the other three limbs fine. Withdrawal on pinching of right front digits. Right paw is warm to the touch. Assessment - complete right distal radius fracture; complete right distal ulnar fracture. Xray (right lateral and CrCd carpus) - the distal diaphysis of the right radius and ulna have a complete horizontal fracture in each bone. There are some small bone fragments in the tissue surrounding the fracture. significant soft tissue swelling at this area. Despite his painful injury, Zion doesn't let anything dampen his spirits and is an exuberant, outgoing, and happy guy! He loves meeting new people and making friends. Zion has met two other dogs at the shelter and has done well with both pups, though the meets were kept brief due to his fracture. On 11/25 a staff member noted: Zion is very friendly, and was very tolerant of all handling and examination. He solicits attention and gives kisses. He seems to be well socialized. He was pretty exuberant at intake despite his painful leg, and was given hydromorphone for light sedation for radiographs. On 11/25, Zion's finder noted: Good around strangers. Friendly, cuddly, playful. VIDEOS ** NEW ** Zion: https://youtu.be/doovl10xGk0?si=x59qIu1qbbVKGisX Zion meets Paola (fence meet): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0qnUuH0Szo
