Looking for the Right Home for a Very Special Boy ❤️ Our 7-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix is deeply loved and has been a cherished member of our family for many years. After a lot of soul-searching, tears, and difficult conversations, we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to find him a home that better fits his needs and keeps everyone safe as our family grows. Let’s start with the good stuff: If you’re part of his inner circle, you are his people. He is incredibly affectionate, loyal, goofy, and loving with those he trusts. He’s the type of dog who believes personal space is optional and would happily spend his days following you from room to room as your furry shadow. He loves his family fiercely and takes his job as “Head of Household Security” very seriously. Now for the honest part (because he deserves a home that knows exactly who he is): Our boy is not a social butterfly. In fact, he would probably like me to tell you that other dogs are highly overrated. He has a history of aggression toward other dogs and has bitten dogs in the past. He is also wary of some men and has nipped at men before. He can be skittish and anxious in unfamiliar situations and around unfamiliar people. Because of this, he needs: • An experienced dog owner • A home without young children • A home where he is the only pet • Someone who understands and respects his boundaries • A calm, structured environment We think he may do best with a single woman or a patient, loving couple willing to take the time to earn his trust and give him the stability he craves. He’s crate-trained, generally does well on walks, and thrives when he knows what to expect. Once he trusts you, his loyalty is unmatched. We are not rehoming him because we don’t love him. In fact, we’re rehoming him because we do. We want him to have the safest, happiest life possible, and we feel that his needs no longer align with the realities of our growing family. This decision has broken our hearts, and finding the right home matters far more to us than finding a quick one. We are committed to being completely transparent because he deserves a family who loves him for exactly who he is—quirks, flaws, giant heart, and all. If you think you might be that person, we’d love to talk.

Story
Meet Mia Bella! Mia Bella is a beautiful 2-year-old Boxer/Mastiff mix weighing 66 pounds. This sweet and loving girl came to Anderson Animal Shelter from a partner shelter in Louisiana along with her nine puppies. Now that her puppies are growing up, it's Mia Bella's turn to find the loving forever home she deserves. Mia Bella is a sweet, loving girl with a gentle soul. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she feels comfortable, her affectionate personality truly shines. Give her a little time, and she'll happily come over for cuddles, pets, and quality time by your side. Mia Bella loves companionship and enjoys showing her affection in her own quiet way. While treats aren't quite her favorite thing yet, she's still discovering all the good things life has to offer, and with time, she may become a treat enthusiast too! When Mia Bella arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter, she tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Mia Bella to recover and complete treatment is in a loving forever home. If you choose to adopt Mia Bella, our clinic staff will support you every step of the way by answering questions and providing guidance throughout her treatment. The process generally takes about three months and involves some simple at-home care to help keep her safe while she recovers. The final step is a follow-up test six months after treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and the staff anticipates that Mia Bella will make a full recovery! It's also important to know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal through mosquito bites. If you're looking for a gentle, affectionate companion with lots of love to give, Mia Bella is ready to meet you! Stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

Story
Hi, I'm Beignet! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. So, if you're up for the challenge and the fun, why not come meet me in person? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more details, email info@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 0. The friendly folks here will be happy to answer all your questions! Can't wait to meet you and start our adventure together! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. She wants all the attention, love and belly rubs one can offer. Emphasis on the belly rubs!  Moxie loves being outside and is always up for a walk. Moxie would do best in a home with a fence as she enjoys laying outside in the warm weather. Moxie will go in a crate and she is also okay being left out as well. She currently sleeps with her foster parents in bed. Moxie would do best with not being left alone for long lengths of time. She’s misses you too much when you’re gone.  She’s a vocal girl that loves to alert you to people walking outside while she watches at the front door. Moxie has been good with kids, but isn’t particularly good at understand her power when she runs and plays. Because of this she will be best with older kids. We’re not sure if she has Betty Davis eyes, but we are CERTAIN that TNT’s Betty Davis has the cutest underbite! She’s a 2.5 year old Boxer lady with the most wiggly lil tail nubbin! So far, Betty has done very well with other dogs and is always trying to engage in play. She’s very gentle and respectful of boundaries, so she’d probably do fine with cats, too. Given her demeanor, we think Betty would make a great family dog and could be a wonderful companion for respectful children. Betty’s foster family has started working with her on her training needs. She is looking for a loving family who will remain committed to continuing her socialization, training, and confidence building! Though she is shy, she is very sweet and interested in making friends! She just needs a home where she can figure things out at her pace! Apply to meet Betty Davis if she sounds like the perfect gem for your home! Betty Davis's adoption fee is $550

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey there, I’m Dalilah! I’m a 64-pound Boxer mix, professional squirrel chaser, and part-time nap enthusiast. My puppies have all been adopted (you’re welcome, world), and now it’s my turn for a forever home! ✨ When I’m not running off squirrels and bunnies like the neighborhood security guard ️, I’m usually lounging around looking adorable. I’m fully potty trained — zero accidents, 100% good girl. ✅ I love walks, tennis balls, and kids (especially the ones with snacks). I might borrow a stuffed animal or two… purely for emotional support, of course. Cats? Hard pass. They look suspiciously like bunnies, and I take my duties seriously. Car rides aren’t my fave — I prefer a cozy crate where I can grumble quietly about the traffic. Oh, and fun fact: I’m a surprisingly good swimmer! ‍♀️ (Baywatch who?) I get along with most dogs and promise to bring love, laughter, and a little chaos to your life — in the best way possible. So come on — take a chance on your new favorite girl! Apply at projecthopearf.org before I chase my next squirrel! Born 10/6/2022  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 25, 2026, 11:09 pm
