A portion of Coco's adoption fee has been sponsored by her friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $275.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi, my name is Coco! From the Foster: A typical day with Coco, I am home with Coco all day, with the exception of appointments, errands, etc. After nearly 2 years in our home, Coco has settled in and become a delightful companion dog. She gets along well with, and seems to take cues from, my black lab with a calm temperament. I have modified living arrangements such that the cats are kept separate from her- she seems to have high prey drive and due to limited vision perhaps cant really tell them apart from a squirrel. I had hoped after this long hearing and smelling them, and occasionally seeing them through the gate, she would have become accustomed to them, but alas she is just not a kitty dog. I keep Coco's medication pretty consistent, aiming for 12 hours apart. Coco and Lucy (my resident dog) both sleep on my bed all night. They don't get up until I do, and are great about going right outside and then in to eat and Coco has her oral meds, eye meds, and insulin. She is a champ taking her meds, doesn't resist at all. Throughout the day, Coco and Lucy go between my office and bedroom, taking long naps (they are 9 after all). Coco loves to race outside into the fenced yard with Lucy and search for real or imagined critters. The only thing that deters her is rain! A strange sound or presence will get her raising the alarm, but she settles down quickly and back to her sniffing and taking long luxurious naps in the sun. She may alarm due to her limited vision, but no significant limitations. Coco loves to be where I am, and would rather tag along in the car than be left behind, but thanks to occasional medication and my very mellow black lab, she is feeling more secure and safe as time goes on. She does fine out of the crate in the house, does not chew on unacceptable items, and can wait several hours to go outside. She has never had an accident indoors. Coco loves a long walk, especially a leisurely sniffari. Due to a lot of training, she is not nearly as concerned about other dogs out on walks as she used to be. I try not to get too close for comfort for her, and help her feel safe and confident. SHH can set an adopter up with ongoing training, too. She is pretty stressed, though, if she cant get out of perceived threat area, so instead of dog parks or busy recreation areas, we stick with the familiar neighborhood and a quiet regional nature park. Evenings are super-relaxed. Right after eating their dinner, both pups settle in for reading, watching a movie, or going to bed early. Coco loves to lay on the couch next to a warm body. She isn't a lap dog, not a hugger, but does love to snuggle. Through the course of my veterinary care at The Bond Between it was found that I have diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, and mature cataracts. Luckily, my foster and the doctors at The Bond Between and BluePearl took great care of me, and I am now ready to find my forever home! I had surgery for my cataracts, and I can see much better now. Future adopters should know that due to my multiple endocrine diseases, I will need to continue to work with a primary veterinarian, as well as an internal medicine specialist (I am currently under the care of Dr. Mazepa at BluePearl.) To manage my diabetes, my adopter will need to administer insulin everyday, as well as monitor my glucose levels with the guidance of a veterinarian. I am also on medication for my hypothyroidism. It is recommended that discuss with my future vet clinic about recommended follows ups and labwork (CBC, chemistry, UA, Fructosamine and T4).

Story
Hi, my name is Rocket! I'm an owner surrender from Minnesota. From the foster: Rocket has been living with us for just over a month now. She's such a love! She wasn't super responsive to her name, and we didn't think it was quite the right fit for her. We've started calling her Mary Lou, as in gymnastics legend Mary Lou Retton. Like her namesake, Mary Lou is strong, athletic, determined, on the shorter side, and an absolute sweetheart! She is incredibly smart and will win your heart over very quickly with her silly ways and expressive face. Mary Lou LOVES to play! Chewing on her stuffed animals, running and playing fetch with a tennis ball, and zoomies in the backyard are all highlights of her day. Snacks and snuggly naps are right up there too. If you'll allow it, she'll scooch right up beside you and rest her head next to yours on your pillow. Her soft snores kick in almost instantly. Its adorable! Mary Lou likes routine. She is ready for bed pretty early (all that playing will tire a girl out!) and sleeps well through the night. She is 100% house trained and hasn't had any accidents. On the days when the backyard has been extra muddy we wipe her feet with a rag when she comes in the back door. It only took one time for her to learn this! She has a crate, and will go in there on occasion, but mostly she prefers the couch, our bed, or one of her blankets. She comes when called, knows how to sit, and is pretty good with stay. She sits and waits while we put her meals down. She's pretty good about sitting - and sometimes lying down - waiting for you to throw one of her toys. I don't know exactly how she does it, but sometimes she gets so excited when you're about to throw a stuffed animal that she does this sort of moonwalk dance. It's hilarious! Mary Lou has had a lot of change in her one year of life. Luckily, she is really smart and it isn't taking too long for her to adapt to our home. When she first got here she was pretty jumpy over the smallest noise, but she's settling in well. Things we are working on: * It takes some time and some work to get Mary Lou comfortable with new people. We haven't introduced her to any other dogs at this point. * She does not do well on walks. She pulls, and she is very strong. She isn't very reactive towards people on walks, but she is to other dogs. It's something we're working on. * I've tried explaining to her that we live in community, and that there are going to be people, cars, bicyclists, and other dogs walking by the house. She's getting better, but still barks when this happens. * When she's overly excited, like when we come home from being out, she sometimes jumps up and will get a little mouthy. It's not bad and possibly will continue to improve as she feels more settled and gets more training. We are beginning work with a trainer this week. Mary Lou is a real gem! She is so smart and well behaved. We know with some training she'll quickly become a perfect pet to join your family! If we were in the position to share our home full time with a dog, we would have been almost immediate foster fails. We love her a ton! It's such a treat to watch her learn and grow and relax every day. Are you thinking about putting in an application for me but you're seeing that I may need some help with training? Not to worry! My adoption comes with training support because The Bond Between wants to help me and my forever family. They know that some dogs need some extra support after adoption and they are all about setting me up for success. You can ask to speak to a trainer if you'd like more information about it. The trainer will tell you that I am worth it!

Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $250.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi my name is Bill and I am from Minnesota. From his foster: Meet Bill (also known as Bill-da-bear, Billy, or Big Head [fondly])! He's a wonderful little pup full of love and kisses who wants to find a family to share them with forever. Bill's quick stats: Fully housebroken Fully crate trained No separation anxiety - you can leave him home alone and he'll just nap while he waits for you to return Obsessed with food (which makes training a breeze!) Very people friendly - will lean into you for pets and loves a good snuggle Humongous gigantic adorable face (big bonus) When he's set up for success, Bill can make dog friends. His interaction with dogs inside of a home, as with any animal, requires a transition time. When he moved into his foster's home he was unsure of the resident black lab at first, but was allowed to gradually get used to having a canine roommate in a low-stress environment with the help of baby gates. After a slow introduction, Bill and his foster's resident dog are now great friends and coexist extremely well! He does love to play (with humans and familiar dogs alike), and because he is a medium sized dog we recommend caution with toddlers as they can get underfoot. Cats that aren't extremely confident and don't like to play may take some time getting used to having Bill in the house, as he's been very keen to chase squirrels and rabbits on walks. His baseline energy is relaxed, but Bill vibes off the energy in the room, so if you get excited for play time Bill is ready to go! He would make a great running companion but is also content to bounce around the backyard fetching a ball for a bit, then lounge around chewing on his favorite bone. Bill has been to social events and has done fantastic. He was the dog of the game at a St. Paul Saints game and was amazing with all the kids and adults coming up to him and giving him pets. All in all we know that you will love him, and as much as we will miss our little Bill-da-Bear we are so happy knowing he is going to a home with a family that will cherish him!

I need a month-long temp foster for all of August!! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org to sign up to foster! Hi, everyone! My name is Chilli! My foster mom says I am practically *perfect* in every way. I am snuggly, playful, affectionate, gorgeous, house trained, and crate trained! I currently live in an apartment and do well with shared walls! I am a strong girl so need someone who handle me during walks. See?! I told you - practically PERFECT! Which leads me to the word "practically" - I do have one small issue. I take time to trust doggy friends. What does this mean? With slow, proper intros (think a day or so of baby gates, smells, crate and rotate) I become besties with other dogs. I am SUPER appropriate with other dogs, good at reading their signals, and love to play. But until I trust my fellow pups, I am a "freak on a leash" they say... which means no dog parks, no breweries, no doggy playdates for me! So, do I sound like the perfect pooch for you?! I hope so! I can't wait to find my family!

I need a foster home! I am available for adoption! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org to sign up to foster! Hi! I'm Dani. I'm from Kentucky. Hi! Thanks for stopping to read a bit about me. I probably caught your eye because of my beautiful coloring and my cute eyebrows. I am a fun, playful girl and I can't wait to be your new best friend and constant shadow. I do have a lot of energy and I hope to find a forever home that would include me in all kinds of activities. A few of my favorite things are playing with my foster dog sister and playing with toys. I love running around with toys in my mouth before I eventually de-stuff them. I would love to have another dog in the home to play with but not a requirement as long as there are toys to play with. As mentioned above, I am very talented when it comes to de-stuffing toys, but I never chew on anything other than toys. Your furniture, pillows, and cords are safe with me, I am house trained and crate trained. I am very smart and food motivated so I can basically learn anything. I probably would do best in a home without small children because I can be a little rambunctious when I play and could accidentally knock a small child over. My paws are crossed that you will come meet me and decide that I would be an amazing addition to your household

Story
I am looking for a new foster or forever family! I need a temp foster August 5-11! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org to sign up to foster! Hi! My name is Mel and I am from Kentucky! From his foster: Ole' blue eyes is a happy, energetic puppy who's eager to learn & excellent with redirection. He's very smart (has learned to sit for his food!) & will nicely let you take items that aren't toys & replace them etc. He kennels immediately when asked & only whimpers occasionally when he hears you moving about after being in there awhile. He walks rather nicely on a leash for a puppy without pulling but can still learn to stay on his side. He occasionally chases the cats when they run in a playful manner but has shown any aggression. He gets along just fine with both small & large dogs, men, women & older children. We are working on potty training. He does well on a schedule & will stop mid potty to go outside. He keeps his kennel immaculately clean overnight! He is not a barker in general so I do think he would do ok with shared walls. He can keep himself occupied nicely but needs lots of toy options & will need things to keep his brain busy. He is at the normal puppy fear stage. Nothing extreme but he does need exposure- he is lacking confidence to strange items & new things. He is strong & jumps a lot. I don't think right now he'd do good with small children only bc of this - otherwise I do think he'd be very gentle. He is not much of a play biter or anything. He would thrive in doggie daycare! I think he could be an only dog with a very active couple or a couple with a nice size yard (I do feel he could learn an invisible fence), but he does love to play! He is starting to grumble when I feed him next to my other dogs so I have separated them but he has never tried to react, otherwise he has been submissive.
